Mynydd-y-Garreg or Mynyddygarreg ("The mountain of the stone") is a village in the county of Carmarthenshire, West Wales. It borders the historic town of Kidwelly.

Its headwater is found east of Llanllawddog, in the Brechfa Forest. It runs west, through Llanpumsaint, to its confluence with the River Duad, just south of Cynwyl Elfed village. Here its course turns to the southeast, running through Bronwydd before joining the River Towy at Abergwili. The River Gwili gives its name to a number of settlements, as well as the Glangwili General Hospital. The Carmarthen Aberystwyth Line once followed the course of the river between Abergwili and Llanpumsaint and the dismantled railway line can still be seen right along the valley. In 1978 a section of the line was reopened in Bronwydd as a heritage railway and was given the name Gwili Railway. The River Gwili is popular with both anglers and canoeists.

Glyn Abbey railway station was opened in 1909 as Pontnewydd Halt It continued to serve the inhabitants of the Pont-newydd area and hinterland between 1909 and 1943; it was one of several basic halts opened on the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Trimsaran Road railway station was opened in 1909 at Morfa It continued to serve the inhabitants of the Trimsaran area between 1909 and 1953 and was one of several basic halts opened on the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It lay some distance to the west of the village of Trimsaran.

Coed Gwempa is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Carmarthen & Dinefwr, Wales. It is managed by the Woodland Trust, who describe it as mixed native woodland and ancient trees with abundant floral species like bluebell, meadowsweet and dog violet. Dormice have also been observed.

Ffos Las is a rural area between the villages of Carway and Trimsaran, north of the town of Llanelli in the Gwendraeth Valley in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The Ffos Las area is named after a farm which had existed at the site before mining operations began. The English translation of ffos las is blue ditch. Ffos Las was once the site of an open cast mining operation which operated between 1983 and 1997. At one time, it was the largest open cast mine in Europe and was 500 ft deep.Ffos Las is now best known for the Ffos Las racecourse which was completed in 2009. The racecourse is built on top of the in-filled open cast mine.

The Ffos Las racecourse (strictly: Ffos Las Racecourse & Conference Centre) is a Welsh horse racing, equestrian sports and conferencing venue situated in Ffos Las, Wales. The Ffos Las racecourse was built at the site of an open cast coal mine after mining operations ceased.

Kidwelly Castle (Welsh: Castell Cydweli) is a Norman castle overlooking the River Gwendraeth and the town of Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Llandyfaelog () is a community located in Carmarthenshire, Wales. According to the 2001 census the community has a population of 1,272, of which 71.88 percent are Welsh speaking. The population at the 2011 Census had increased to 1,304.The community is bordered by the communities of Llangunnor, Llangyndeyrn, Kidwelly, St Ishmael, Llangain, and Carmarthen, all being in Carmarthenshire, and includes the villages of Idole, Croesyceiliog and Cwmffrwd.

The Church of Saint Mary is a Grade I Listed Building in the town of Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The church was listed in December 1963 (Cadw Building ID: 11878). Founded c. 1114 the church was burnt down in 1223 and most of the existing building dates from c. 1320 when it was a Benedictine priory.It has been listed as the largest parish church in south west Wales, exceptional for the broach spire and fine decorative 14th-century Gothic detail.

Kidwelly Priory was a Benedictine abbey in Kidwelly, Wales (in Welsh, Cydweli). Roger, bishop of Salisbury (d.1139), a Norman invader founded the priory of Kidwelly, but it seems to have been a place of Celtic Christian veneration of Saint Cadog for some centuries prior to that.It was a daughter abbey of Sherborne Abbey, and although well documented in the historical record it appears to have remained small for its extent. It was dissolved 1539, by Henry VIII. Today the abbey remains a parish church, St Mary's with much of the surviving fabric dates to the fourteenth century, c. 1320.

Kidwelly Town Hall (Welsh: Neuadd y Dref Cydweli) is a municipal building in Lady Street, Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The structure, which was last used as a public library but is currently vacant, is a Grade II listed building.
