Chaffey College

Los Osos High School is a public high school located in the city of Rancho Cucamonga in Southern California's Inland Empire in the United States. It operates as part of the Chaffey Joint Union High School District. The school was named a California Distinguished School in 2013, was the recipient of a Golden Ribbon Award from the California Department of Education in 2017, and was a 2018 U.S. News & World Report Best High School Silver Medalist. Graduates from the Class of 2017 met the University of California A-G admission requirements at a rate of 66.4%, nearly 20% higher than the state average.

Rancho Cucamonga ( RAN-choh KOO-kə-MUNG-gə) is a city located just south of the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and Angeles National Forest in San Bernardino County, California, United States. About 37 mi (60 km) east of Downtown Los Angeles, Rancho Cucamonga is the 28th most populous city in California. The city's seal, which centers on a cluster of grapes, alludes to the city's agricultural history including wine-making. The city's proximity to major transportation hubs, airports, and highways has attracted the business of several large corporations, including Coca-Cola, Frito-Lay, Big Lots, Mercury Insurance Group, Southern California Edison, and Amphastar Pharmaceuticals.The city had a population of 174,453 according to the 2020 United States Census. The city experiences an average of 287 sunny days per year, compared to a national average of 205 days. Its climate is classified as warm Mediterranean, or Csa, under the Köppen climate classification system.The Jack Benny Program popularized the city's name, in particular the word "Cucamonga".

Alta Loma (Spanish for "Tall Hill") is one of three unincorporated areas that became part of the city of Rancho Cucamonga, California, United States in 1977. The community is located at 34.15°N 117.60°W / 34.15; -117.60 in the foothills of the south face of the San Gabriel Mountain range, near Cucamonga Peak and Mount San Antonio (Mount Baldy). Its ZIP codes are 91701 and 91737. Elevation ranges from 1,400 feet (430 m) to 3,000 feet (910 m). The name comes from the Spanish words for "high hill." Alta Loma had previously been known as "Iamosa".

The Etiwanda Fire was a wildfire in the San Bernardino National Forest in the foothills north of Rancho Cucamonga. The fire started on April 30, 2014, during Santa Ana wind conditions of high temperatures and strong winds. On the first day, four schools and more than 1,500 homes were evacuated; residential evacuation orders were canceled that evening. Nine schools were closed on May 1, but they all were reopened on May 2. Many nearby communities were warned of unhealthy air quality. It burned 2,143 acres (867 ha) and was fully contained on May 10. The Etiwanda Fire was caused by an escaped illegal campfire.

Dr. Strange Records is a record label and record store located in Alta Loma, California. It started out as an apartment-based distro in 1988 and became a record label in 1989, run out of the "Doc's" apartment until 1997, when the store was first opened. The company is located in the historic Alta Loma post office, built in 1906, at 7136 Amethyst Street (at the northwest corner of the intersection with Lomita Drive; 34.12441°N 117.59847°W / 34.12441; -117.59847 (Old Alta Loma post office)).The label features many well known punk bands.

The Cucamonga Service Station is a historic gas and automobile service station located in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Local lore claims it was built in 1915 by Henry Klusman, who built many of the early buildings in Cucamonga, but no documented evidence of this has been yet discovered. The station operated until 1971. In 1926, the historic U.S. Route 66 was organized, and the station sits on the North side of the Route 66. The Cucamonga Service Station was originally one of thousands of similar service stations along the route. Today, it is the only surviving service station of its design on Route 66 in California. William Harvey was the original owner. He operated the Cucamonga Garage and Cyclery on the lot next door form the present day station. In 1914 he purchased the lot next door and built a larger garage with curb side gas pumps out front. Business must have been good because in November 1915 he purchased the land behind the garage from Henry Klusman, (This may be where the idea that Klusman built the station came from.) The streetside garage was then taken down and rebuilt (probably in 1916) at the back of the lot and given a new facade of a Spanish Colonial style to match the new gas station built in front. After being structurally weakened by a fire, the garage collapsed in 2011 during a heavy storm. From the 1930s through the 1960s, it was a Richfield Oil Corporation gas station, owned and operated by Ancil Morris and ceased operation entirely in the early 1970s. The Rancho Cucamonga city council voted in 2009 to make the Cucamonga Service Station a city landmark but that designation did not provide funds for preservation or restoration. In 2013 the property was owned by Lamar Advertising and when they requested permission to demolish it the city council denied the request informing them of its protection as a city historical landmark. Not being in the business of historic preservation they made a deal with Route 66 Inland Empire California (IECA), a local historic preservation non-profit organization. The property and station were donated to Route 66 IECA with the stipulation that they maintain an easement for access to Lamar's billboard at the edge of the lot. Lamar was able to write off the charitable donation and the station was now owned by someone who could restore it. It was converted into a small museum in 2015. The station is visited each week by tourists from around the world and across the country as they travel America's Mother Road as well as locals who just want to come in and reminisce. The restoration was provided by private donations, grants, and volunteer labor and has since won numerous awards and honors. 2009 - City Landmark designation. 2015 - Dedication Plaque from the Native Sons of the Golden West. 2016 - Preservation Design Award from the California Preservation Foundation. 2018 - Governor's Historic Preservation Award. 2018 - Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 2019 - Best of Rancho Cucamonga - Museum. 2020 - Route 66 IECA named Non-Profit of the year - Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce.Future plans include raising enough funds to rebuild the garage at the back of the lot which will greatly expand the museum space.

The Sam and Alfreda Maloof Compound is a historic residential complex located at 5131 Carnelian Street in Alta Loma, California. The complex includes the house and workshop of woodworker and furniture designer Sam Maloof, who designed the buildings himself. Maloof's house includes hand-carved redwood doors and windows, which Maloof gradually carved to replace the pre-made fixtures. Maloof also replaced many of the house's functional elements with his own creations, including door handles and surrounds, rafters, and even toilet seats. Maloof used the adjacent workshop and display room to build and show his furniture, and he experienced his greatest period of success in the 1960s and 1970s while working in the house. The house was relocated in the early 2000s when California State Route 210 was built through the area; it is now a museum of Arts and Crafts work.The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 9, 2010.

The Chinatown House is an historic building in Rancho Cucamonga, California. It is one of the last surviving examples of historic Chinese worker housing in the region. Built in 1919, the two-story brick building once housed 50 Chinese American laborers. It also served as a general store for the community.

LoanMart Field (previously known as the City of Rancho Cucamonga Epicenter Entertainment & Sports Complex, or The Rancho Cucamonga Epicenter for short) is a stadium in Rancho Cucamonga, California. It is primarily used for baseball and is the home field of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes minor league baseball team. It was opened on April 3, 1993, with the nickname The Epicenter, and has a seating capacity of 6,588 people. While playing home games at the stadium since 1993, the Quakes have broken a number of stadium attendance records.

The Victoria Gardens Cultural Center (VGCC) is a community library and performance venue attached to the Victoria Gardens lifestyle center in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The building (which links the Lewis Family Playhouse, the Paul A. Biane Library, and the 4,500-square-foot (420 m2) Celebration Hall under one roof) officially opened on August 19, 2006. It is supported in part by The Rancho Cucamonga Library Foundation and the Rancho Cucamonga Community Foundation. These two organizations joined together in 2002 to create the Promoting Arts and Literacy (PAL) fundraising campaign. Since then these two groups have continued to hold their annual fundraising events: the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library Telethon and the Community Foundation Gala for the sole benefit of the PAL campaign. The $33.8 million project was completed without the use of any City of Rancho Cucamonga's General Fund. It was instead financed through a $7.8 million State Library Grant, $5.7 million partnership with Victoria Gardens regional town center developer Forest City Enterprises, private partnerships, Community Development Block Grant funds, and Redevelopment Agency Tax Allocation Bond Funds.

Etiwanda is the easternmost of three formerly unincorporated communities that became part of Rancho Cucamonga, California, in 1977.
