The Clarendon Way is a recreational footpath in Hampshire and Wiltshire, England. It starts beside the waters of the River Itchen in the centre of Winchester and ends near the River Avon at Salisbury Cathedral. The path passes through the Clarendon Estate and close to the 12th century ruins of Clarendon Palace. The path also passes through Farley Mount Country Park and the villages of Pitton, The Winterslows, Broughton and King's Somborne. The path shares part of its route with the Monarch's Way long-distance footpath. The footpath is waymarked by metal and plastic disks attached to wooden and metal posts, trees and street furniture. This route is shown as a series of green diamonds on Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 maps and as a series of red diamonds on Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 maps. Several charity events take place along the Clarendon way: Each June, the Naomi House & Jacksplace charity organises a sponsored walk along the Clarendon Way. The event attracts thousands of walkers and raises significant sums for the charity. The Clarendon Marathon takes place every year on the first Sunday in October. The event is organised by the Rotary Clubs of Winchester and Salisbury, along with other volunteers, and attracts over one thousand runners each year. The proceeds from the race are donated to good causes and many runners also raise money for a charity of their choice. Competitors can choose between full marathon, half marathon and 5 mile options, and it's also possible to cover the full marathon distance as a four-person relay team.

Venta Belgarum, or Venta Bulgarum, was a town in the Roman province of Britannia Superior, the civitas capital of the local tribe, the Belgae, and which later became the city of Winchester.

Lower Barracks was a military installation in Winchester. It was the depot of the Royal Hampshire Regiment from its formation in 1881 until it moved out in 1959. The Royal Hampshire Regiment Museum reopened at Serle's House in 2004. It is one of several independent museums that comprise Winchester's Military Museums.

St Thomas Church (previously St Thomas & St Clement Church) is a disused Church of England parish church in Winchester, England. An earlier St Thomas Church (which itself replaced a church dedicated to St Petroc which fell into decay in the 14th century following the Black Death) was in St Thomas Street. It was demolished in 1845 and replaced by the present church, about 100m away in Southgate Street. Nikolaus Pevsner remarked that it is the most ambitious Victorian church in Winchester, and it is remarkable that it should be so early; for it is ‘archaeological’, i.e. no longer uninformed in its Gothic motifs and their handling.The new church joined the parishes of St Thomas and St Clement and contained around 2,500 souls. The new church was consecrated on 16 April 1847 by the Bishop of Winchester.This church closed in 1969 and for a while housed the Hampshire Record Office. At that time it was listed Grade II and remains on the statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest with the name of Hampshire Record Office. The Record Office moved to a new building and the church, called the St Thomas Centre, was used as charity offices until about 2010. It is now in the process of being converted into housing, with nine flats and properties being created inside the building.

Win FM, the on-air name of Winchester Independent Radio, was an Independent Local Radio station for Winchester, in Hampshire, England, and surrounding areas. After two one-month trial broadcasts in 1996 and 1997 it won a permanent licence and began to broadcast on 3 October 1999. It closed on 2 October 2007.The trial broadcasts were made from temporary studios in Winchester High Street. The permanent station broadcast from studios on the top floor of the Brooks Shopping Centre, Winchester.The station played pop music from the 1960s onwards, and covered local news and events in central Hampshire, with news bulletins generally on the hour through weekday daytimes and weekend mornings. There were also 15-minute local news programmes Winchester Today on weekday lunchtimes and Winchester Tonight on weekday evenings. Win FM did many outside broadcasts from around the area, including presenting live at the switch-on of the Winchester Christmas lights, and the Winchester Round Table fireworks display. Presenters included Simon Norton, Andy Martindale, Phil Stocks, Ken Rayner, Brian Matthews, Tim Butcher, Phil Marriott, Dina Burgess, Nick David, Steve Ridout, Jo Jones, Matt Aldous, Ben Shoveller, Dave Moses and James Morgan. The station was originally owned by The Local Radio Company and Jacob & Johnson, then owners of the Hampshire Chronicle newspaper. Jacob & Johnson sold their share at the same time as they sold the Hampshire Chronicle. Ownership later passed to Radio Investments Inc, and then to a later company using the old name The Local Radio Company. It was bought by Tindle Radio in October 2006. Tindle closed the station in October 2007, replacing it with Dream 107.2.The 107.2 frequency has subsequently been used by: Dream 107.2 (2007–8), Radio Hampshire (2008–9), Play Radio (2009–10), The Breeze (2010-20), Hits Radio South Coast (2020-22) and Easy Radio South Coast (2022-).

Winchester United Church (originally Winchester Congregational Church and later Winchester United Reformed Church) is a joint United Reformed and Methodist church in the centre of the city of Winchester in the English county of Hampshire. Built between 1852 and 1853 to the Gothic Revival design of architects Poulton and Woodman for a congregation which had its origins nearly 200 years earlier, it is "incongruously set within the northern part of the former county jail", which had recently moved to a new site. Since 1974 the congregation has been a joint United Reformed and Methodist one, as the city's two Methodist chapels closed, the congregations merged and worship was concentrated on the one site. Historic England has designated the church a Grade II listed building for its architectural and historical importance.

The Winchester Law Courts is a judicial facility just off the High Street in Winchester, Hampshire, England. As well as accommodating the Crown Court, which deals with criminal cases, the complex also accommodates the County Court and the Winchester District Registry of the High Court.

The Eclipse Inn is a public house at 25 The Square in the city of Winchester in Hampshire, England. It has been listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England (NHLE) since January 1974. The building dates from the 16th century and was formerly the rectory of St Lawrence Church. The name of the pub derives from its siting opposite the Sun Inn.It has been included in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide, edited by Roger Protz.The NHLE listing describes the inn as "Very modernized". It is framed with timber over three storeys, with a seven-light casement window with wood mullions. The timber framing was rediscovered in the 1920s after the removal of plaster that covered it. The Eclipse Inn is the last of a group of listed buildings that form 10 to 25 The Square.

The Westgate is one of two surviving fortified gateways in Winchester, England (the other is Kingsgate) formerly part of Winchester City Walls. The earliest surviving fabric is of Anglo-Saxon character. The gate was rebuilt in the 12th century and modified in the 13th and late 14th centuries, the latter including a portcullis in the western façade and two inverted-keyhole gunports (for use with hand-held cannon), the earliest in the country. The gate was in use until 1959 when the High Street was routed around it.In the 19th century the City Corporation (now Winchester City Council) acquired the Westgate and began to use it as a museum and repository for the City archives. In 2014, ownership of the museum space was transferred to Hampshire Cultural Trust. Today, the Westgate Museum's displays include a famous collection of pre-Imperial weights and measures, and a fine painted ceiling made for Winchester College in anticipation of a visit by Mary Tudor and Philip of Spain on the occasion of their marriage in Winchester in 1554.

Castle Hill is a series of buildings used as council offices in Winchester, Hampshire, England. There are two main structures both of which are Grade II listed buildings: the Castle Hill Offices on the east of Castle Avenue and the Castle Avenue Offices on the west of Castle Avenue. They take their name from Winchester Castle, which is located at the south end of Castle Avenue.

The Pilgrims' Trail is a 155-mile long-distance footpath that connects Winchester Cathedral in Hampshire, England to Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy. The UK section of the footpath passes through the towns of Owslebury and Bishop's Waltham as well as the Forestry Commission owned Forest of Bere. It ends at the Portsmouth ferry terminal.The Hampshire section, known as the Hampshire Millennium Pilgrims Trail which opened in 1999, is a 29-mile section that is waymarked with green disks attached to wooden and metal posts, trees and street furniture. In the French section the waymarkes are blue.Within Portsmouth, the section of the route from Portsbridge to the Ferry Terminal is a shared cycling and pedestrian route and also marked with blue cycle and pedestrian route signs.
