Niedersachsenstadion (German pronunciation: [ˈniːdɐzaksn̩ˌʃtaːdi̯ɔn], lit. 'Lower Saxony Stadium') is a football stadium in Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany, which is home to 2. Bundesliga football club Hannover 96. The original 86,000-capacity stadium was completed in 1954 and has since been rebuilt several times for various major football events. Today it has 49,000 covered seats. During the 2006 FIFA World Cup the stadium was named FIFA World Cup Stadium, Hanover. Through a sponsorship deal, the stadium's official name is currently Heinz-von-Heiden-Arena [haɪnts fɔn ˈhaɪdn̩ʔaˌʁeːnaː]. Between 2002 and 2013 a similar arrangement saw the stadium renamed as the AWD-Arena [ˌʔaːveːˈdeːʔaˌʁeːnaː]; from 2013 to 2022 the stadium was named HDI-Arena [ˌhaːdeːˈʔiːʔaˌʁeːnaː].

1979 World Masters Athletics Championships is the third in a series of World Masters Athletics Outdoor Championships (called World Veterans Championships at the time) that took place in Hannover, Germany, from 27 July to 2 August 1979.The main venue was Niedersachsenstadion (English: Lower Saxony Stadium), which featured a new Olympic-style electronic scoreboard. : 1  This stadium has since been rebuilt several times, most extensively in 2003/04. Cross Country was held at Sportpark Hannover (German: Mehrkampfanlage) in Galgenberg. : 4 This edition of masters athletics Championships had a minimum age limit of 35 years for women and 40 years for men. : 1 The governing body of this series is World Association of Veteran Athletes (WAVA). WAVA was formed during meeting at the inaugural edition of this series at Toronto in 1975, then officially founded during the second edition in 1977, then renamed as World Masters Athletics (WMA) at the Brisbane Championships in 2001. This Championships was organized by WAVA in coordination with a Local Organising Committee (LOC) of German Athletics Association (German: Deutscher Leichtathletik-Verband, DLV) and K. Wilhelm Köster. In addition to a full range of track and field events, non-stadia events included 10K Cross Country, 10K Race Walk (women), 20K Race Walk (men), and Marathon.

The Hanover Schützenfest (German: Schützenfest Hannover) in Hanover, Germany is the largest marksmen's funfair in the world. The origins of this funfair are located in the year 1529. It takes place once a year, is commercially organized and includes a big entertainment program. The Schützenfest consists of around 5,000 marksmen, 250 rides and inns, five large beer-tents and the "Marksmen's Parade". The highlight of this funfair is the 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) long Parade of the Marksmen with more than 10,000 participants from Germany and all over the world, among them around 5,000 marksmen, more than 100 bands and more than 60 wagons, carriages and big festival vehicles. It is the longest parade in Europe and probably the world. More than one and a half million people visit this funfair every year. The landmark of the funfair is the 60-metre (200 ft) tall Steiger Ferris wheel, which can carry 420 people in its 42 passenger cabins.

The Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HsH) is a public Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences and Arts) in Hanover. It's the second largest university in Hanover with approximately 10,000 enrolled students in the winter term 2021/2022 and 620 professors and employees. In addition there are around 430 guestlecturers from other academic institutes, organisations and companies teaching at the HsH. The Hochschule Hannover has four locations (main campus Ricklinger Stadtweg in Hannover-Linden, EXPO-Plaza in Hannover-Mittelfeld, Blumhardtstraße in Hannover-Kleefeld and Heisterbergallee in Hannover-Ahlem).

The Bismarck Tower in Hanover, Germany was a tower erected as a monument to the first Chancellor of the united German nation Otto von Bismarck for patriotic and nationalistic purposes, which then became a hub for national socialist events in the city until its dismantlement in 1935 as part of the building of the Maschsee.

Hanover (German: Hannover) was a Regierungsbezirk of the German state of Lower Saxony from 1946 until 2004. It was located in the centre and the south of the state, centered on the Lower Saxon capital of Hanover.

Waterloo is a Hanover Stadtbahn station served by lines 3, 7 and 9. South of here the lines branch off: lines 3 and 7 turn south in order to travel towards Wallensteinstraße and Wettbergen, while line 9 keeps west towards the centre of Hannover-Linden in order to reach Empelde. The station has four tracks to prevent simultaneously arriving trains from Empelde and Wettbergen from having to wait in the tunnel: see below for the layout. It was named for the Battle of Waterloo. The station was opened as the first underground Stadtbahn station in Hanover and renovated in 2014. The walls and columns now display images and information about the history of Hanover.

Sprengel Museum is a museum of modern art in Hanover, Lower Saxony, holding one of the most significant collections of modern art in Germany. It is located in a building designed by Peter and Ursula Trint (of Cologne) and Dieter Quast (of Heidelberg), adjacent to the Maschsee. The museum opened in 1979, and the building was extended in 1992. Bernhard Sprengel donated his extensive collection of modern art to the city of Hanover in 1969, as well as financially supporting the construction of the museum. The city of Hanover and the state of Lower Saxony agreed to jointly operate the museum. In addition to the works donated by Sprengel, the museum also houses 20th century artworks owned by Lower Saxony and Hanover.

The State Radio House of Lower Saxony (German: Landesfunkhaus Niedersachsen) is a group of buildings owned by the public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk in Hanover, the state capital of Lower Saxony, Germany. The broadcaster is based in Hamburg, but has facilities in the capitals of other states that it serves. The building group is situated at the Rudolf von Bennigsen Esplanade on the eastern shore of the Maschsee. When it was built in 1949–1952, it was known as the Hanover Radio House (Funkhaus Hannover). In addition to administrative buildings and an antenna tower, it includes two halls for public concerts: the large broadcasting hall (Großer Sendesaal) opened in 1963, and the small broadcasting hall (Kleiner Sendesaal).

Museum August Kestner, previously Kestner-Museum, is a museum in Hanover, Germany. It was founded in 1889. The museum was renamed Museum August Kestner in December 2007 to avoid confusion with the Kestnergesellschaft, a local art gallery. Museum August Kestner is centered on the collections of August Kestner and his nephew Hermann Kestner, later followed by the collections of Friedrich Culemann and Friedrich Wilhelm von Bissing. It contains four different categories of antiquities: Ancient Egypt, Classical Antiquity, Numismatics and Handicraft.

The New Town Hall (German: Neues Rathaus) in Hanover, Germany, is a city hall and was opened on July 20, 1913, after having been under construction for 12 years. It is a magnificent, castle-like building of the era of Wilhelm II in eclectic style at the southern edge of the inner city (outside of the historic city centre of Hanover). The building is embedded in the 10-hectare (25-acre) Maschpark . The Old Town Hall is no longer used as the main seat of administration, but houses businesses and the registry office.

The Wangenheim Palace (German: Wangenheimpalais) is a building in the Mitte district of Hanover. From 1863 to 1913, it was the town hall and seat of the city administration of Hanover. Today it is the seat of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs.
