The Ramova Theater is a historic movie theater at 3508-3518 South Halsted Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Businessman Jokūbas Maskoliūnas, one of the many Lithuanian immigrants who settled in Bridgeport in the early twentieth century, built the theater in 1929. The theater opened with 1,300 seats, making it the largest in the neighborhood, and was built with a commercial block and apartments in the same building. Its name, which was chosen by the winner of a local newspaper contest, means "peaceful place" or "serene place" in Lithuanian. Architect Myer O. Nathan designed the building as an atmospheric theater, a style of theater meant to transplant audiences to a distant place or time; in the case of the Ramova, its interior used false fronts and balconies to resemble a Spanish courtyard. Nathan's design included elements of Neoclassical and Spanish Revival architecture, such as extensive terra cotta ornamentation, a frieze spanning the length of the building, and plaster detailing on the interior.The theater was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 17, 2021.

Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church is one of the oldest churches in Chicago, Illinois, founded in 1868. The church was designed by noted architect Patrick Keely, an architectural designer prominent throughout the 19th century. He also designed Holy Name Cathedral in downtown Chicago.Nativity of Our Lord Parish is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago and is located in the city's Bridgeport neighborhood. Prominent church members include former Chicago Mayors Richard J. Daley and Richard M. Daley, as well as William M. Daley, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce and Chief of Staff for the Obama Administration, and former State Senator and Representative and current Cook County Commissioner John P. Daley.

On August 27, 2003, a mass shooting occurred at Windy City Core Supply in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. Salvador Tapia, who had been fired from the company months before, shot and killed six people before being killed by responding officers.

The Spiegel Office Building is a historic office building at 1038 W. 35th Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It was built in 1936-37 as an office building for Spiegel Inc., a mail order company established in Chicago in 1865. The company built its new offices in the midst of a change in its goals and marketing, as it shifted from promoting its easy credit to offering higher-quality products to wealthier customers. The new office building allowed the company to consolidate several of its offices to improve efficiency and thus customer service. Engineers Battey & Kipp designed the Art Moderne style building, which had an industrial loft plan with open floors. In the 1940s, engineer Abraham Epstein placed an addition on the building, allowing the company to keep all of its offices in the building.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 18, 2009.

Redhot Ranch (also spelled Red Hot Ranch) is a three-location hot dog stand in Chicago, Illinois, founded by Barry Nemerow and Jeff Greenfield, who also founded The Wieners Circle. They opened 35th Street Red Hots in 2005 on the south side of Chicago a short walk from White Sox Park. The stand is famous for its limited approach to the Chicago-style hot dog, its toppings departing from tradition by including only mustard, onions, relish, sport peppers and fresh cut French fries placed on top, known as a Depression Dog. The duo opened two more locations in 2014 that served a double cheeseburger modeled on the In-N-Out Burger. The burger has been highlighted by Chicago Tribune for the #2 french fries in the city, and #12 best cheeseburger in the city, the #3 hot dog in Chicago on Serious Eats, and the restaurant was a subject on Check, Please!, a television show dedicated to Chicago restaurants. The menu is limited to hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, fried shrimp, milkshakes, and a cod sandwich.

The Union Stock Yard Gate, located on Exchange Avenue at Peoria Street, was the entrance to the famous Union Stock Yards in Chicago. The gate was designed by Burnham and Root around 1875, and is the only significant structural element of the stock yards to survive. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1981. The plaza surrounding the gate also includes the city's principal memorial to its firefighters.

Exchange was a station on the Chicago "L"'s Stock Yards branch. Its ridership information is missing in 1947, but returned as Racine in 1948.

Bridgeport is one of the 77 community areas in Chicago. The 60th numbered area is a neighborhood on the city's South Side, bounded on the north by the South Branch of the Chicago River, on the west by Bubbly Creek, on the south by Pershing Road, and on the east by the Union Pacific railroad tracks. Neighboring communities are Pilsen across the river to the north, McKinley Park to the west, Canaryville to the south, and Armour Square to the east. Bridgeport has been the home of five Chicago mayors. Once known for its racial intolerance, Bridgeport today ranks as one of the city's most diverse neighborhoods.

The Chicago Maritime Museum is a maritime society and museum dedicated to the study and memorialization of Chicago's maritime traditions. The museum's webpage asserts that Lake Michigan and the Chicago River were key factors in Chicago's growth toward status as a world-class city, and pays tribute to Congress for granting lake frontage in 1818 to the infant state of Illinois. The museum opened in June 2016.

St. Mary of Perpetual Help (Polish: Kościół Matki Bożej Nieustającej Pomocy) - historic church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago located in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It is a prime example of the so-called Polish Cathedral style of churches in both its opulence and grand scale. Along with St. Barbara's in Chicago, it is one of two monumental religious edifices found in this near South Side neighborhood.

The 11th Ward is one of the 50 aldermanic wards with representation in the City Council of Chicago, Illinois. It is broken into 38 election precincts. Five Mayors of Chicago have come from this ward: Edward Joseph Kelly, Martin H. Kennelly, Richard J. Daley, Michael A. Bilandic and Richard M. Daley. The current alderman for the 11th ward is Nicole Lee. The ward has had notable levels of political corruption. It is home to the headquarters of the so-called Daley machine and the 11th ward "...had by far the highest number of trucking firms benefitting from the City of Chicago's Hired Truck Program".

The International Amphitheatre was an indoor arena located in Chicago, Illinois, that opened in 1934 and was demolished in 1999. It was located on the west side of Halsted Street, at 42nd Street, on the city's south side, in the Canaryville neighborhood, adjacent to the Union Stock Yards.
