The Produce Terminal Cold Storage Company Building is a historic refrigerated warehouse at 1550 South Blue Island Avenue in the Near West Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1928–29, the warehouse was the largest cold storage facility in Chicago when it opened. As Chicago was a major shipping and transportation hub, refrigerated storage played a key role in preserving perishable goods so they could be sold year-round. Architects H. Peter Henschien, a renowned designer of refrigerated facilities, and Robert J. McLaren designed the Art Deco building. The top two stories of the eleven-story building feature extensive terra cotta and tile ornamentation, including chevrons, Egyptian-inspired colonettes, and a dentillated cornice with cymatium molding. In addition to its extensive refrigerated space, the interior plan also included processing and office space, improving efficiency and lowering costs for the building's tenants.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 2003.

The Otis Elevator Company Factory Building is a historic industrial building located at 1435 W. 15th Street in the Near West Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The Otis Elevator Company had the factory built in 1900. The company, then the nation's largest elevator manufacturer, sought to grow its sales in Chicago, as the city's growth and numerous new skyscrapers made it a profitable market for elevators. The Chicago firm of Adler & Treat designed the factory as a brick building with Colonial Revival elements. The factory served as a regional headquarters until 1914, when Otis restructured and introduced smaller regional offices; while it continued to have a Chicago office, it sold the factory building. The Riley-Schubert-Grossman Company, a wholesaling firm, purchased the building in 1916; while it only occupied the building for a short time, its extensive remodeling gave it its present-day layout.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 26, 2008.

Addams/Medill Park is a public park in Chicago named after Jane Addams and Medill Elementary School. It is located in Little Italy.

South Water Market is a historic produce market in the Lower West Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Completed in 1925, the complex was designed as a structured replacement to Chicago's sprawling downtown produce markets on South Water Street; while these markets had existed since the mid-19th century, they had become a traffic and sanitation problem. The new complex included six buildings with 166 units, all with modernized and hygienic facilities; despite being relocated away from South Water Street, it kept the South Water name. The complex was the largest produce market by area in the nation when it opened, and it soon became the second-largest by sales behind New York City's markets. The market served as the nexus of Chicago's major produce wholesaling industry, which both provided food for city residents and functioned as a forwarding market due to the city's railroad connections. Although business at the market fell into a decline by the 1950s, the market remained in operation until 2001. The market was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 20, 2004.

Thalia Hall is an historic building in Pilsen, Chicago which is currently a mixed-use music, retail, and bar/restaurant space. It was designated as a Chicago Landmark on October 25, 1989.Thalia Hall was built in 1892 by saloonkeeper John Dusek, and designed by architects Frederick Faber and William Pagels in the Romanesque Revival style.Its current owners, as of 2018, are Bruce Finkelman and Craig Golde, through their firm 16” on Center.

Church of the Holy Family is a Roman Catholic church in Chicago, Illinois. It is the second-oldest Catholic church in Chicago. It is one of the few structures that survived the Great Chicago Fire.The Society of Jesus leased the Church to the Archdiocese of Chicago, who operated the parish. In July 2019, following the Archdiocese Renew my Church campaign, the Canonical Parish consolidation with the former Notre Dame de Chicago parish occurred, and the Church building was returned to the Society of Jesus. Church of the Holy Family continues to serve the students, alumni and friends of Saint Ignatius College Prep, as well as families who wish to celebrate weddings, baptisms, and the lives of departed family members.

The National Public Housing Museum is a historical institution that will be opening at 1322 W Taylor St. in Chicago, Illinois, and currently is located at 625 N Kingsubury St. in Chicago. The museum is located in the last remaining building of the Jane Addams Homes of ABLA Homes, and will feature an oral history archive, public programming, and an entrepreneurship hub. Exhibitions will include restored apartment of three families who lived in the Jane Addams homes. The building that the museum is contained within opened in 1938 as the first federal government housing project in Chicago. It housed thousands of families over six decades and has been vacant since 2002

Moses Montefiore Academy (also known as Moses School or simply Montefiore) was a special school of the Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Established in 1929, The school was located Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois and served students with severe emotional disorders. The school closed in 2016.

Little Italy, sometimes combined with University Village into one neighborhood, is on the Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois. The current boundaries of Little Italy are Ashland Avenue on the west and Interstate 90/94 on the east, the Eisenhower Expressway on the north and Roosevelt to the south. It lies between the east side of the University of Illinois at Chicago campus in the Illinois Medical District and the west side of the University of Illinois at Chicago campus. The community was once predominantly Italian immigrants but now is made up of diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds as a result of immigration, urban renewal, gentrification and the growth of the resident student and faculty population of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Its Italian-American heritage is primarily evident in the Italian-American restaurants that once lined Taylor Street. The neighborhood is home to the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame as well as the historic Roman Catholic churches Our Lady of Pompeii, Notre Dame de Chicago, and Holy Family.The recent history of the neighborhood waves of urban renewal, starting with the construction of expressways in the 1950s, the development of UIC in the 1960s, the demolition of public housing in the 1990s and 2000s, and redevelopment of Maxwell Street in the 2000s. Along with these changes, housing prices in the area have risen.

The Moses Montefiore Academy shooting occurred on September 22, 1988, in Chicago, Illinois, when Clemmie Henderson, a 40-year-old man, carried out a shooting spree that began at a nearby auto parts store and ended inside a special-education school. Henderson fatally shot five people, including a police officer, a school custodian, and two auto shop employees, before being shot and killed by a wounded officer during a gunfire exchange inside the school.

Saint Ignatius College Prep is a selective private, coeducational Jesuit college-preparatory school located in the Near West Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The school was founded in Chicago in 1869 by Fr. Arnold Damen, S.J., a Dutch missionary to the United States.
