Lucius P. Buchanan House, also known as the Ralph L. Gray Alumni Center of Missouri Southern State University, is a historic home located at Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri. It was built in 1926, and is a two-story, Spanish Revival style masonry dwelling covered in protective stucco. It has a low-pitched tiled gable roof and features multiple arched entryways and window frames, recessed porch, decorative ornamentation, and wrought iron embellishments. The prominent landscape architects Hare & Hare laid out the gardens, swimming pool and extended grounds.: 5, 7 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Missouri Southern State University (Missouri Southern, MSSU, or MoSo) is a public university in Joplin, Missouri. It was established in 1937 as Joplin Junior College. The university enrolled 4,346 students in Fall 2021.

Northpark Mall is a super regional mall located in Joplin, Missouri. The mall opened in 1972 with 600,000 square feet, and featured 60 stores, restaurants, and other services. Today, the Northpark mall is 1,080,000 square feet, and features more than 100 inline tenants including a food court. Northpark Mall is the largest mall in the Joplin region and serves a trade area of nearly 500,000 people. Freeman hospital added a soft play area in the Macy's women's court in the summer of 2014. The mall was also the temporary home of the 11th and 12th grades of Joplin High School until August 2014, when the new high school was completed. Northpark Mall is managed by CBL & Associates Properties. The anchor stores are Vintage Stock, TJ Maxx, H&M, JCPenney, and Dunham's Sports. There are three vacant anchor stores that were once two Macy's stores and Sears.

Fred G. Hughes Stadium at the Robert W. Plaster Complex is located at 3950 Newman Road is a 7,000 seat football stadium for Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri The stadium opened in 1975 and cost $1.7 million. It claims to be the first state college stadium in Missouri to use artificial turf. In 2003 its turf was replaced with Sprinturf. The previous turf in place in 1988 has been BaspoGrass-S.Its capacity is 4,700 fans on the west side and 2,300 spectators on the east.The stadium was named in honor of Fred G Hughes, president of the College Board of Regents between 1964 and 1978. It was designed by Joplin architect firm Allgeier, Martin, and Associates.In February 2011, the Robert W. Plaster Foundation announced two seven figure gifts to the school to build baseball field and a multi-purpose athletic facility adjacent to the football field and to renovate Fred G. Hughes Stadium. The whole complex is to be named Robert W. Plaster Sports Complex (there is another complex of the same name at Missouri State University). After additional funding is raised for the Hughes renovations, that field is to be renamed Robert W. Plaster Stadium. School officials are debating renaming the entrance to the Hughes Entrance Plaza.The field was used as the first temporary morgue on May 22, 2011 after the 2011 Joplin tornado destroyed much of the community.

Joe Becker Stadium is an American baseball ballpark, built in 1913, located in Joplin, Missouri. The stadium has burned down twice, the first time in 1936 and the second time in 1971. The stadium currently has seating capacity of 4,200 as the home of the Joplin Outlaws of the summer collegiate MINK League.

The Elijah Thomas Webb Residence is a historic home in Webb City, Missouri. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020 as an "outstanding example of a high-style Queen Anne residence." The three-story building was built c. 1891 and has retained many of its original details. It is a rare surviving example of Queen Anne single-family architecture in Webb City. The residence was designed with an eclectic mixture of architectural features that include the Queen Anne, Italianate, Romanesque, and Eastlake movement details. The building has an irregular shape with a slate-clad hip roof with some lower gable sections and a polygonal tower on the front elevation. Red brick walls include contrasting bullnose corner bricks to create faux quoining on top a batter (walls) limestone foundation that extends five feet above grade. The most significant modification to the main building was the addition of a second-floor sleeping porch c. 1914.

Middle West Hotel, also known as Grand Opera House and Webb City Opera House, is a historic hotel building located at Webb City, Jasper County, Missouri. It was built in 1883, and housed an opera house. It was remodeled to its present form in 1902, and is a three-story, brick commercial building with brick corner pilasters and limestone trim.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is located in the Downtown Webb City Historic District.

Downtown Webb City Historic District is a national historic district located at Webb City, Jasper County, Missouri. The district encompasses 43 contributing buildings in the central business district of Webb City. It developed between about 1883 and 1965 and includes representative examples of Italianate, Renaissance Revival, Romanesque Revival, Art Deco, and Streamline Moderne style architecture. Located in the district is the previously listed Middle West Hotel. Other notable buildings include the National Bank (c. 1890), S. Morris Department Store (c. 1907), Morris Opera House and Royal Furniture Co. (c. 1890), The Unity Building and Merchant and Miners Bank (c. 1906), Aylor Building / Odd Fellow Hall (c. 1905), Mystic Theater (c. 1914), Newland Hotel (c. 1890), Dickenson Theater (c. 1928), Civic Theater (c. 1931), U.S. Post Office (c. 1916), and the Old U.S. Post Office / Wagner Building (c. 1907).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

It is affiliated with the Restoration Movement of Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. It emphasizes vocational preparation for preaching, missionary, worship, youth, and children's ministers.
