St John the Evangelist Church, Heron's Ghyll

Heron's Ghyll is a hamlet in the Wealden district of East Sussex. St John the Evangelist Church is a Catholic church in the village. There is a late 19th-century garden laid out by the poet Coventry Patmore in the village.

Temple Grove School was a preparatory school for boys, and after 1984 also for girls, originally at Parsons Green, London, later at East Sheen, London, still later at Eastbourne, and finally at Heron's Ghyll, an estate between Uckfield and Crowborough in East Sussex. Founded before 1803 at Parsons Green, where it was known as Elm House, before it gained the name of Temple Grove, a house at East Sheen, the school survived to become one of the oldest preparatory schools in England, but in 2005 it finally closed. In the 19th century the school was also sometimes called by the name of the headmaster of the day, as in Mr Waterfield's, East Sheen, or Mr Edgar's.

Brickfield Meadow is a 1.4-hectare (3.5-acre) nature reserve north of Maresfield in East Sussex. It is managed by the Sussex Wildlife Trust.This wildflower rich meadow has been traditionally managed for many years by cutting in the summer and grazing later in the year. Flowering plants include Dyer’s greenweed, devil's-bit scabious, bitter-vetch and zigzag clover. It is one of the best places in the county for the chimney sweeper moth.The Wealdway long distance footpath goes through the reserve.

Fairwarp is a small village within the civil parish of Maresfield in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. Its nearest town is Uckfield, which lies approximately 3.3 miles (5.3 km) south from the village, just off the B2026 road. Reginald John Campbell, British Congregationalist and Anglican divine, died at his home in the village in 1956.The actors Joan Tetzel and Oscar Homolka are buried together at Christ Church.

High Hurstwood is a village in the Wealden district of East Sussex.

Rock Wood is a 10.4-hectare (26-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Uckfield in East Sussex.This ancient wood has several different types of broadleaved woodland, a stream which cuts through a steep sided valley and a small waterfall. The valley has a moist and mild climate which provides a suitable habitat for mosses and liverworts which are uncommon in south-east England.

Lieutenant Richard Frank Hill (28 April 1899 – 17 September 1918) was a British World War I flying ace credited with seven aerial victories.

Aspidistra was a British medium wave radio transmitter used for black propaganda and military deception purposes against Nazi Germany during World War II. At times in its history it was the most powerful broadcast transmitter in the world. Its name – after the popular foliage houseplant – was inspired by the 1938 comic song "The Biggest Aspidistra in the World", best known as sung by Gracie Fields. The transmitter was installed in 1942 at a purpose-built site near Crowborough on Ashdown Forest in southeast England. This was equipped with other medium wave and short wave transmitters, which also used the Aspidistra name, being known as ASPI 2, ASPI 3, ASPI 4, etc. However, when the name Aspidistra was used on its own it always referred to the original medium wave transmitter (ASPI 1). The Crowborough station was run during the war by the British government's Political Warfare Executive (PWE). After the war, the station was run by the Diplomatic Wireless Service (DWS) and used for BBC External Service broadcasts to Europe. It closed in 1982.

Five Ash Down is a small village within the civil parish of Buxted, in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. Its nearest town is Uckfield, which lies approximately 1.8 miles (2.9 km) south from the village. The village lies on the A26 road between Uckfield and Crowborough. Five Ash Down is home to the Pig and Butcher public house, a village hall which has a weekly timetable of events and the village shop and Post Office. Five Ash Down Independent Chapel, an Evangelical church, was founded in 1773 and moved to its present site in 1784, although in its present form the chapel is mostly Victorian.

Buxted Park is an 84.7 hectare (206.16 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest, located near the village of Buxted, East Sussex, England. The main house is just over 0.5 km northeast of the town of Uckfield. The site was notified in 1989 under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The site is an old deer park dating back to 1199, which consists of large amounts of unimproved grassland areas. The house which forms the centrepiece of the estate is now a country house hotel owned and operated by Hand Picked Hotels. The park is famous for its herd of deer and a large artificial lake which is home to several exotic birds.

Poundgate is a hamlet in East Sussex on the A26 Uckfield Road at the junction with Chillies Road, just south of Crowborough. It has one pub, the Crow and Gate, on the main road and a scattering of mainly detached houses. The name was first recorded in 1564, and is derived from a gate into Ashdown Forest, which Poundgate lies at the south-eastern edge of. The hamlet is in the civil parish of Buxted, for which its population was accounted for in the 2011 census.Bus services connect to Crowborough and Brighton. The nearest station is Crowborough with an hourly train service to London Bridge and to Uckfield. The Vanguard Way path goes through the hamlet.
