Hardcastle Crags is a wooded Pennine valley in West Yorkshire, England, owned by the National Trust. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the town of Hebden Bridge and 10 miles (16 km) west of the town of Halifax. It gave the title to a poem by Sylvia Plath that was included in her 1960 debut collection The Colossus.

Walshaw Dean Reservoirs are three reservoirs situated above Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, England. They are between Hebden Bridge and Top Withins, a ruined farmhouse near Haworth, the reputed inspiration for "Wuthering Heights" in the novel of the same name by Emily Brontë. The reservoirs' catchments are dominated by peatland habitats. The reservoirs drain into the Calder Valley. On 19 May 1989 Walshaw Dean Lodge entered the UK Weather Records with the Highest 120-min total rainfall at 193 mm; however, the Met Office expresses 'reservations' about this record.

Colden is a hamlet in the civil parish of Heptonstall in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, the hamlet consists of scattered houses and farms on high ground west of Heptonstall, above the valley of Colden Water. Colden School is a junior and infants school established in 1878.Colden Water is crossed by two old footbridges, possibly dating from the 17th century. Strines Bridge is a packhorse bridge, and lower down a clapper bridge crosses the stream. Both are Grade II listed buildings. The Pennine Way and Calderdale Way both pass through Colden.

Heptonstall is a small village and civil parish within the Calderdale borough of West Yorkshire, England, historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. The population of Heptonstall, including the hamlets of Colden and Slack Top, is 1,448, increasing to 1,470 at the 2011 Census. The town of Hebden Bridge lies directly to the south-east. Although Heptonstall is part of Hebden Bridge as a post town, it is not within the Hebden Royd town boundaries. The village is on the route of the Calderdale Way, a 50-mile (80 km) circular walk around the hills and valleys of Calderdale.

The South Pennines Regional Park (or South Pennines Park) was a proposed national park that would cover the South Pennines area in Northern England, encompassing parts of Greater Manchester, Lancashire and West Yorkshire. It would also adjoin the borders of two existing national parks; the Yorkshire Dales in the north and the Peak District in the south. The area was named as a prospective national park in the 1940s when the idea of creating national parks was being carried forward, but it was never given the same status as the Peak District, North York Moors or the Yorkshire Dales. The South Pennines Regional Park was championed by many agencies and charities. Pennine Prospects were awarded Heritage Lottery Funding in 2018. In September 2021, the park was launched under a "self-declaration" scheme, though its status is not recognised by DEFRA. The organisation behind the proposal closed at the end of 2023. The South Pennines is the only upland area of England without any designated protection framework.

Blackshaw is a civil parish in the Calderdale metropolitan borough of West Yorkshire, England. It contains the village of Blackshaw Head. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 935, increasing to 992 at the 2011 Census.

Top Withens (SD981353) (also known as Top Withins) is a ruined farmhouse near Haworth, West Yorkshire, England, which is said to have been the inspiration for the location of the Earnshaw family house Wuthering Heights in the 1847 novel of the same name by Emily Brontë. A plaque affixed to a wall reads: This farmhouse has been associated with "Wuthering Heights", the Earnshaw home in Emily Brontë's novel. The buildings, even when complete, bore no resemblance to the house she described, but the situation may have been in her mind when she wrote of the moorland setting of the Heights. The ruin lies on the Pennine Way east of Withins Height below Delf Hill. It is a popular walking destination from nearby Haworth and Stanbury. Such is the attraction to Japanese literary tourists that some footpath signs in the area include directions in Japanese.

Eastwood Railway Station served the village of Eastwood in the civil parish of Todmorden, West Yorkshire, England. The station opened with the line on New Years Day 1841 and was closed on 3 December 1951 by British Railways. Retaining walls in the cliff above the site, together with a substantial road access ramp, and the remains of adjacent coal drops can still be seen. In addition, the former vehicle-size level crossing has survived in reduced form, as a pedestrian crossing. The signal box here survived for around 20 more years until its abolition as part of the Preston area resignalling scheme in 1972. A derailment in the (now removed) goods loop next to the westbound line in October 1986 blocked the route for over a week — heavy lifting equipment had to be brought in to recover several overturned coal hopper wagons from the scene, whilst a replacement bus service ran between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge stations.

Hepton was a rural district in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England, from 1894 to 1974. The district included four civil parishes: Heptonstall, Blackshaw Erringden WadsworthIt was created in 1894 as the Todmorden rural district. It was renamed in the 1930s and survived until 1974, when, under the Local Government Act 1972 it was abolished and became part of the Calderdale metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire.

Hebden Bridge Town Hall, formerly Hebden Bridge Council Offices, is a municipal building in St George's Street, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, England. The town hall, which is the meeting place of Hebden Royd Town Council, is a Grade II listed building.

The Battle of Heptonstall occurred in November 1643 during the First English Civil War at Hebden Bridge and Heptonstall, Yorkshire. During the battle, Colonel Bradshaw, a Parliamentarian commander fended off an attack by Sir Francis Mackworth and the Royalists.

Hebden Bridge Picture House in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, is one of the last remaining council-owned cinemas in Britain. Together with the adjacent shops, it forms a Grade II listed building.The Picture House, built between 1919-1921, is an independent cinema with daily evening screenings, weekend matinees and tea time screenings, and matinees most days during school holidays. There is a screening every Thursday morning, at which free tea and biscuits are provided. It also screens live broadcasts of theatre, opera, ballet, music and arts documentaries via satellite. It has both digital and 35mm projection facilities. It has one screen with over 500 seats, and mainly operates from the stalls (accessible) seating downstairs. It has a kiosk serving hot and cold drinks, cake, popcorn, sweets, chocolates and savoury snacks. The Picture House offers a wide-ranging programme of film and live events. It shows anywhere between 16 and 26 films per month, ranging from mainstream and blockbuster to art-house and foreign language films. There are regular screenings of specialist films and touring programmes from a range of organisations, including the British Film Institute. Certain screenings come with subtitles and / or audio description.
