The William Wellington House is a historic house in Waltham, Massachusetts. It was built in 1779 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The house stayed in two families until somewhere around 1930 when it was acquired by Middlesex County Hospital. Prior to renovations, it had been abandoned for over 20 years.The home was purchased as part of a development of condominiums nearby now known as "Wellington Crossing". The developers donated the house along with $100,000 for its renovations to the city of Waltham in 2005. Renovations of the exterior were undertaken after some $367,000 were raised by the Waltham Historical Commission. Archie Bennett, director of the commission, said that William Wellington and his family were among the founding families of Waltham and that their Georgian home deserved attention.

The Whitney–Farrington–Cook House was a historic house in Waltham, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1858, and was a good example of Italianate styling. It had a three-bay facade, with a single-story porch across the facade which is supported by Tuscan columns. The main entry was flanked by sidelights and simple pilasters, and topped by an entablature.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It was demolished circa 2012.

WWDJ does not broadcast any local programming, functioning as a repeater for the Relevant Radio network. WWDJ's studios and offices are co-located with the network in Lincolnwood, Illinois, and the station transmitter are located in Lexington.

WAZN (1470 AM) is an ethnic radio station in the Boston, Massachusetts market, licensed to Watertown. It is owned by Multicultural Broadcasting, and as of February 1, 2016 broadcasts Chinese language programming, simulcast from M.R.B.I.'s New York City station.

Gaebler Children's Center was a psychiatric institution operated by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health for severely mentally ill children and adolescents, located in Waltham, Massachusetts. The center opened on October 8, 1955, near the grounds of the Metropolitan State Hospital and closed in September 1992. It was named after William C. Gaebler, the second superintendent of the Metropolitan State Hospital. The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) closed the center as it was antiquated and could no longer serve the needs of the children it housed. According to the DMH, this closure coincided with the decision to place mentally ill children in community settings instead of in institutional settings. Others felt the center was closed due to budget cuts. According to the Waltham Land Trust and The Boston Globe, the grounds of the Gaebler Center are currently being considered for redevelopment. (The Gaebler Center is now slated for Demolition with bids to be received prior to April 15, 2010)Demolition and site development contractor Testa Corp won the bid to begin destruction of the area, as indicated by a sign recently erected at the entrance. Mayor Jeanette McCarthy said the building was bought by the city of Waltham in 2005 in order to have some control over the development of the seven-acre site. Demolition of the Gaebler Children's Center was completed in January 2011. The work cost the City of Waltham approximately $637,000. There are no current plans for the 55-acre lot.

The Murphy Army Hospital is a former hospital in Waltham, Massachusetts. The hospital grounds, now demolished, is now home to Gann Academy, Bentley University Residence Halls, and City of Waltham Veterans Memorial Park- which contains sport facilities. During its operation, it was also home to a sports team called the Murphy Medics. From June 1, 1949, to April 30, 1950, the hospital was the site of an experiment, ordered by the Surgeon General of the United States Army, Major General Raymond W. Bliss, to determine "to what extent women could be substituted for men in the operation of Army hospitals". During the 11-month period, 240 civilian women and members of the Women's Army Corps replaced men in the majority of medical and administrative jobs. However, no women Army doctors were available and "costs precluded the hospital's hiring of civilian women for the experiment." There are several remains of Murphy Hospital still surviving. The main driveway to the Hospital off Trapelo road remains with original brown wood sign holders as well as a lamp post at the end of the roadway. One building from Murphy Hospital remains. The original hospital maintenance shop is still standing on property behind Gann Academy.

The Middlesex County Hospital was operated by Middlesex County from the 1930s until 2001. Its property straddles the towns of Waltham and Lexington, Massachusetts. Originally a tuberculosis hospital, it eventually became the county hospital for Middlesex until its closure. The property was sold and redeveloped into a condominium community. It is located near the old Metropolitan State Hospital, which was closed in 1992 and has also been redeveloped into housing.

Gann Academy is a coeducational Jewish high school located in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States. It was founded in 1997 and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

The Phineas Lawrence House is a historic house at 257 Trapelo Road in Waltham, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1807-08 by Phineas Lawrence, member of the locally prominent Lawrence family, who had owned land in the northeastern part of Waltham since the 17th century. The house is a well-preserved example of Federal styling. The Lawrence properties were extensive, and included land that was used for the nearby Metropolitan State Hospital.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The house at 45 Claremont Avenue in Arlington, Massachusetts is a rare local example of transitional Italianate and Gothic Revival styling. Built c. 1885–90, the house has steeply pitched gables and almost Stick style porch decoration that are typical Gothic work, while the house's massing and the bracketed eaves are Italianate. One of its early owners was Theodore B. Merrick, an instructor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Walter E. Fernald State School, later the Walter E. Fernald Developmental Center, was the Western hemisphere's oldest publicly funded institution serving people with developmental disabilities. Originally a Victorian sanatorium, it became a "poster child" for the American eugenics movement during the 1920s. It later was the scene of medical experiments in the 20th century. Investigations into this research led to new regulations regarding human research in children. The school occupies a 186 acres (75 ha) property off Trapelo Road in Waltham, Massachusetts.
