Forest Hill Chase

The electoral district of Glen Waverley is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria.It was originally created for the 1985 Victorian state election and was abolished at the 2002 election. At the 2021 redistribution, it was re-created following the abolition of the districts of Forest Hill and Mount Waverley, covering eastern Melbourne suburbs.It contains the suburbs of Glen Waverley, Vermont South, most of Forest Hill and Vermont, and parts of Blackburn South, Burwood East, and Wheelers Hill.

Blackburn Lake Sanctuary is an example of regenerated and remnant bushland in suburban Melbourne, Australia. It is located in the suburb of Blackburn. It is the most significant of the many parks in the City of Whitehorse, featuring areas of regenerated bushland and various walking tracks. In 1889 the Kooyongkoot Creek was dammed forming Blackburn Lake, at the centre of the sanctuary. The park has a diverse history revolving around the human usage of the lake and surrounding bushland, which by the 1960s left the lake in particular, very polluted. Although still polluted today, the late 20th century saw much regenerative planting and protection measures by local residents and community groups which has halted and in some places reduced pollution. Today, the park is home to a variety of local wildlife, including Pacific black ducks and herons. The sanctuary also features a variety of other birds, as well as possums and sugar gliders.

Forest Hill is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 18 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Whitehorse local government area. Forest Hill recorded a population of 10,780 at the 2021 census.Forest Hill was recently ranked 93rd on Melbourne's most liveable suburb list, which was higher than other nearby popular suburbs such as Bentleigh, Mount Waverley and Glen Waverley.The suburb is primarily made up of low to medium density residential housing.

The City of Whitehorse is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It has an area of 64 km2 (25 sq mi) and in June 2018, Whitehorse had a population of 176,196.Whitehorse was formed in December 1994 by the amalgamation of the former cities of Box Hill and Nunawading. The name Whitehorse came from the White Horse Inn, a tavern originally located in the area in the late 19th century. This name was applied to the major thoroughfare, Whitehorse Road, which runs through the municipality today.In the original proposals for council amalgamations in Melbourne, Whitehorse was a suggested name for an area comprising the City of Box Hill, with the addition of residents east of Union Road (part of the old City of Camberwell). The affected residents were unhappy, believing an alignment with Box Hill would lower the value of their properties. A second proposal featured the current boundaries of Whitehorse. The City of Nunawading proposed the name "City of Koornung", claiming it was more appropriate, as both cities shared the Koonung Creek, but they failed to note they had spelled Koonung incorrectly in their proposal. Another suggestion was "City of Deakin", as the region of Whitehorse contains both the Federal electorate of Deakin, and the Melbourne campus of Deakin University, in Burwood.

Morton Park is a football and cricket ground located on Central Road in the suburb of Blackburn, Victoria, Australia. The ground has two ovals, and is home to the local Blackburn football and cricket clubs.The top oval is where the senior football and cricket sides play, while the junior teams play most of their home matches on the bottom oval. The bottom oval has four cricket nets, and both grounds run north–south (for both football and cricket). The Blackburn Football Club's Auskick program is conducted on the top oval. Morton Park is located along the Belgrave and Lilydale railway lines, and is in close proximity to St Thomas the Apostle Primary School, Blackburn Lake Primary School, Blackburn Lake, Blackburn Railway Station and the Blackburn Library. A children's playground is also located to the south east of the ground.

Blackburn is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Whitehorse local government area. Blackburn recorded a population of 14,478 at the 2021 census.The origin of the name Blackburn is not certain, but may have been after an early settler or James Blackburn, who designed Yan Yean Reservoir. It lies within the City of Whitehorse, in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Blackburn is bounded in the west by Middleborough Road, in the north by Springfield Road, in the east by an irregular line along streets to the east of Blackburn Lake Sanctuary - known as the Bellbird area - and in the south by Canterbury Road.

Wobbies World was an amusement park which operated from about 1980 to the late 1990s in the Melbourne suburb of Nunawading, Australia. The park consisted of many custom-built attractions, most slow moving and aimed at very young children. The park had some characteristic modes of transport including a helicopter "Whirliebird" monorail circuit, mower motor driven 6 wheeler ATVs, a real Bell helicopter refurbished as a ground-mounted simulator, a "Splashdown" mini log ride, a mini-golf course, trampolines, a ball pit, several food and drink kiosks, a miniature train circuit, a miniature car circuit, four Melbourne W2 class trams and a large Vickers Viscount propeller plane fitted out as a movie-projector simulator. The plane now resides at the Australian National Aviation Museum, in Moorabbin, while the Bell helicopter is dismantled and currently sits in a paddock on Dandenong–Frankston Road at 38°03′57″S 145°12′02″E. One of the Whirliebird helicopters now resides in the front yard of a private residence [1] Despite memorable television advertisements over the decades, the park slowly deteriorated in the mid to late 1990s and had closed down by the end of the decade. Its demise has been linked to the high entrance fee for the time ($36 for a family of four in 1994) and the charging of separate fees to use some of the attractions.A plant nursery and the Saxon Wood town house estate occupied the Springvale Road site, but the entrance gate (without road), concrete castle, bridges, a train station, the Birthday Room and the miniature golf course from the former amusement park still remained within the nursery. In September 2012, the state government announced that a new Forest Hill police station was to be built on the site. The plant nursery had now closed. The site is now the location of the new Forest Hill Police Station.

Winlaton Youth Training Centre was a Government owned and run female youth correctional facility located on 18 acres (73,000 m2) at 186 Springvale Road Nunawading, Victoria, Australia. The facility was designed to accommodate 14- to 18-year-old wards of the state. It opened in 1956 as the Winlaton Juvenile School, and closed in 1993 as the Nunawading Youth Residential Facility. A housing estate (Candlebark Estate) now occupies the site.

Blackburn South is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 16 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Whitehorse local government area. Blackburn South recorded a population of 10,939 at the 2021 census.Blackburn South is bordered by Canterbury Road, Middleborough Road, Eley Road, and by an irregular line to the east of Blackburn Road. Furthermore, the suburb is informally divided between Blackburn South Proper to the west of Blackburn Road, and Blackburn South Heights to the east of Blackburn Road. Blackburn South Proper Residents Association (BSPRA) is campaigning to amalgamate Blackburn South Heights into neighbouring Forest Hill.

Blackburn railway station is located on the Lilydale and Belgrave lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the eastern Melbourne suburb of Blackburn, and it opened on 25 December 1882.
