The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University is an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Baltimore, MD. It was established in 1973 and received its NCI designation that same year as one of the first designated cancer centers in the country.SKCCC is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, an alliance of 27 comprehensive cancer centers in the US. The current director of SKCCC is William G. Nelson, who has been at JHU since 1992 and specializes in prostate cancer. Past directors have included Albert H. Owens Jr. and Martin Abeloff.

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (abbreviated JHBMC or Bayview; formerly Francis Scott Key Medical Center and Baltimore City Hospitals) is the teaching hospital trauma center, neonatal intensive care unit, geriatrics center, and is home to the Johns Hopkins Burn Center, the only adult burn trauma in Maryland, containing about 420 beds. Located in southeast Baltimore City, Maryland, along Eastern Avenue near Bayview Boulevard, it is part of the Johns Hopkins Health System and named after its close proximity to the Chesapeake Bay. Founded in 1773 as an almshouse, it was relocated several times until its now present location in 1866. In 1925, it transitioned into several municipal hospitals, which transferred ownership to Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1984.

Bayview, or Hopkins-Bayview, is a neighborhood located in the Southeast District of Baltimore between the Pulaski industrial area (East) and Greektown (West).The neighborhood is bounded by Lombard Street to the north, Kane Street to the east, Eastern Avenue to the south, and I-895 to the west. Also included in this area is the Joseph Lee neighborhood. Historically, this neighborhood was referred to as "A to K" due to the alphabetical naming of the streets Anglesea, Bonsal, Cornwall, Drew, Elrino, Folcroft, Gusryan, Hornel, Imla, Joplin, and Kane.Central to this neighborhood is the 130-acre (0.53 km2) Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Also found on the campus are two branches of the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute on Aging and the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

Joseph Lee, the residential part of Bayview, is a neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. Part of the larger Bayview or Hopkins Bayview neighborhood, it borders the Greektown neighborhood. It is sometimes called the "A to K" or "ABC neighborhood" because its north-south streets are arranged in alphabetical order: Anglesea, Bonsal, Cornwall, Drew, Elrino, Folcroft, Gusryan, Hornel, Imla, Joplin, and Kane. Most of the homes in the community are traditional Baltimore row homes. The earliest houses, built in the 1920s, are in the western portion of the neighborhood and generally have three bedrooms. The houses in the eastern portion, built in the 1950s, typically have two bedrooms. Some have formstone fronts made popular in the 1940s, though these are not as ubiquitous as in Highlandtown. The neighborhood is also known for its azalea bushes that line some of the streets.

Kresson is a neighborhood of Southeast Baltimore, Maryland, United States.The area currently known as Kresson is primarily an industrial district, though a small section contains a residential neighborhood. Residents of Kresson often refer to their neighborhood as Highlandtown, a larger, adjacent residential neighborhood. Kresson's boundaries are defined by Pulaski Highway (U.S. Route 40) to the north, East Lombard and East Pratt Streets to the south, Haven Street (north and south portions) to the west and rail tracks to the east.The residential neighborhood in Kresson is architecturally, like much of Baltimore, composed of rowhouses. These row houses were constructed around the year 1900. The 2000 census determined its residents to be racially diverse, though predominantly lower-income. The neighborhood of 395 people was 75.9% white, and 20.3% African American.Kresson Street, which runs through the heart of the Kresson neighborhood, from East Lombard Street to East Monument Street (0.1 miles outside Kresson) is a section of MD 150.The north-south streets are arranged in consecutive order alphabetically, so to the west of Kresson lie Baylis, Conkling, Dean, Eaton, Fagley, Grundy, Haven, Iris and Janney, while those to the east are named Lehigh, Macon, Newkirk, Oldham, Ponca, Quail, Rappolla, Savage, Tolna and Umbra.

Brewers Hill is a neighborhood in the Southeast District of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The neighborhood is bounded by Fleet Street to the north, Haven Street to the east, Dillon Street to the south, and Conkling Street to the west. Brewers Hill is south of the Highlandtown and east of the Canton neighborhoods. The city's Canton Industrial Area lies to the south.The neighborhood's architecture includes a variety of houses built between 1915 and 1920 as the city expanded eastward. The housing includes traditional Baltimore rowhouses built of redbrick and formstone. Many of the older houses have original architectural features, such as marble steps and porch fronts. A portion of the neighborhood, bounded by Haven, Dillon, Conkling, and Eastern, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

O'Donnell Heights is a neighborhood named for a public housing development in the far southeastern part of the city of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is located south and east of Interstate 95, just west of the border with Baltimore County, and north of the St. Helena neighborhood. The community was built to house factory workers during World War II. Today operated by the Housing Authority of Baltimore City, the original 900 unit development was modernized in 1983. The neighborhood, which also contains privately owned and rented rowhouses, is separated from Highlandtown by highways, cemeteries, and industrial areas. It is in close proximity to the Point Breeze Industrial Park and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Graceland Park O'Donnell Heights Elementary School #240 is located at Gusryan and O'Donnell Streets. As of May 2007, many of the World War II era public housing buildings in O'Donnell Heights have started a demolition phase as a means of making room for a brand new mixed-income housing area. O'Donnell Heights is predominantly African American, with growing White and Hispanic populations as well, according to the 2010 Census. Notable former resident Dominique Wilkins went on to gain fame in the N.B.A., and returned to his neighborhood to build a basketball court for the community in the early 1980s.

The National Brewing Company was an American brewing company that was founded in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1885. Its Baltimore brewery was located in the city's Highlandtown neighborhood. After World War II, it grew to be the largest brewer in Baltimore history and its advertising, including one-eyed mascot "Mr. Boh" and its slogan "From the Land of Pleasant Living", became part of the folk culture of the Baltimore area. In 1975, the National Brewing Company was acquired by the Carling Brewing Company. National's Highlandtown brewery was operated until 1978, when it was closed and production moved to a brewery in nearby Halethorpe, Baltimore County that had been built by Carling in 1961. The National Brewing Company brands continued to be brewed at the Halethorpe plant until it closed in 1996. Since 2000, the company’s two most prominent brands, National Bohemian Beer and Colt 45, have been brewed for Pabst Brewing Company at several plants.

Venice Tavern is a dive bar in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. The bar opened in 1933, when Frank Sr and Victoria DeSantis converted their basement and added an exterior staircase to access it from outside of their Conkling Street row house. The 3-story mansion above the bar was originally built in 1920 for William Schluderberg of C., a member of the William Schluderberg & Son meat packing family, and now houses a local and organic farmers market store.

Gunther Brewing Company is a historic brewery industrial building complex, located in the Canton neighborhood of southeast Baltimore, Maryland, (United States). The site comprises 15 masonry buildings. The main structure is a five-story brick L-shaped Romanesque Revival-style brew house with a two-story brick ice plant built about 1910 and one- and two-story boiler room. Additional brew houses built in 1936 and 1950 are also on the property. The later Tulkoff factory and warehouse was built about 1964. It was home to the George Gunther, Jr. Brewing Company, founded in 1900. By 1959, it was the second largest brewery in Baltimore, one of the major centers of brewing in America, when it produced 800,000 barrels per year and employed approximately 600 people. Hamm's Brewing Company bought the Gunther Brewing Company in 1960, and later became part of Miller Brewing Company. The brand was acquired just three years later by the F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company in 1963, the plant in Canton was closed in 1978. The Tulkoff company briefly used the factory for their sauce products at the conclusion of all brewing operations. After that, large portions of the rear walls of some buildings were demolished to facilitate salvage. The former brewery has been redeveloped into a modern, mixed-use building called The Gunther, much like other Canton buildings. Gunther Brewing Company was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, which is maintained by the National Park Service of the United States Department of the Interior.

Armistead Gardens is a neighborhood in the Northeast District of Baltimore. It is located north of Pulaski Highway and east of Erdman Avenue, between Herring Run Park (northeast) and the East District neighborhood of Orangeville (southwest).Armistead Gardens is home to four churches, Armistead Gardens Elementary School, and the Bohemian National Cemetery. The nearest major highways are Pulaski Highway (U.S. Route 40) and Erdman Avenue.
