Haussner's Restaurant was opened by William Henry Haussner in 1926 and became one of Baltimore's most famous landmarks over the next 73 years.In addition to 'old-world' style food, including Baltimore's finest crab cakes, the restaurant housed a large collection of fine art, which decorated the walls. The art had been acquired over the years by William Henry Haussner and Frances Wilke Haussner, who bought their first painting in 1939, "Venetian Flower Vendor," by Eugene de Blaas (1843-1932). Over the next 73 years, the Haussners acquired over 100 pieces, including highly important works by 19th-century European and American masters. The restaurant was closed in 1999, and the collection, which included pieces from the estates of J.P. Morgan, Cornelius Vanderbilt and Henry Walters, was auctioned by Sotheby's in New York City for $10 million. The restaurant officially served its last meal on Wednesday, October 6, 1999. The site of the restaurant and its business content was donated to the owner of the former Baltimore International College. In 2011 the site was purchased by Joseph Schultz, owner of Schultz Development LLC, a Baltimore home and rehab company. In 2015, the building was purchased by Garver Development Group. Haussner's was demolished in July 2016 by Access Demolition & Environmental Services. Old Town Construction has constructed a 6-story high rise apartment building in its place.A reproduction of Haussner's served as the setting in the television show, Mad Men (Series 3, Episode 27).

Brewers Hill is a neighborhood in the Southeast District of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The neighborhood is bounded by Fleet Street to the north, Haven Street to the east, Dillon Street to the south, and Conkling Street to the west. Brewers Hill is south of the Highlandtown and east of the Canton neighborhoods. The city's Canton Industrial Area lies to the south.The neighborhood's architecture includes a variety of houses built between 1915 and 1920 as the city expanded eastward. The housing includes traditional Baltimore rowhouses built of redbrick and formstone. Many of the older houses have original architectural features, such as marble steps and porch fronts. A portion of the neighborhood, bounded by Haven, Dillon, Conkling, and Eastern, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

The Highlandtown Arts District (a.k.a. "ha!" and Highlandtown Arts and Entertainment District) is the largest such designated area in the state of Maryland, encompassing the southeast Baltimore neighborhoods of Highlandtown, Patterson Park and portions of the Canton and Greektown neighborhoods. In the Highlandtown Arts District, artists live and work in an area known for cultural diversity. The "ha!" district has extensive retail and industrial spaces, along with affordable housing, with easy access to Interstate 95, Interstate 895, Fell's Point and Downtown Baltimore.Events held in "ha!" include the Great Halloween Lantern Parade, a farmer's market, the Artket festival, Salsapolkalooza, and Highlandtown Wine Festival.

The National Brewing Company was an American brewing company that was founded in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1885. Its Baltimore brewery was located in the city's Highlandtown neighborhood. After World War II, it grew to be the largest brewer in Baltimore history and its advertising, including one-eyed mascot "Mr. Boh" and its slogan "From the Land of Pleasant Living", became part of the folk culture of the Baltimore area. In 1975, the National Brewing Company was acquired by the Carling Brewing Company. National's Highlandtown brewery was operated until 1978, when it was closed and production moved to a brewery in nearby Halethorpe, Baltimore County that had been built by Carling in 1961. The National Brewing Company brands continued to be brewed at the Halethorpe plant until it closed in 1996. Since 2000, the company’s two most prominent brands, National Bohemian Beer and Colt 45, have been brewed for Pabst Brewing Company at several plants.

Gunther Brewing Company is a historic brewery industrial building complex, located in the Canton neighborhood of southeast Baltimore, Maryland, (United States). The site comprises 15 masonry buildings. The main structure is a five-story brick L-shaped Romanesque Revival-style brew house with a two-story brick ice plant built about 1910 and one- and two-story boiler room. Additional brew houses built in 1936 and 1950 are also on the property. The later Tulkoff factory and warehouse was built about 1964. It was home to the George Gunther, Jr. Brewing Company, founded in 1900. By 1959, it was the second largest brewery in Baltimore, one of the major centers of brewing in America, when it produced 800,000 barrels per year and employed approximately 600 people. Hamm's Brewing Company bought the Gunther Brewing Company in 1960, and later became part of Miller Brewing Company. The brand was acquired just three years later by the F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company in 1963, the plant in Canton was closed in 1978. The Tulkoff company briefly used the factory for their sauce products at the conclusion of all brewing operations. After that, large portions of the rear walls of some buildings were demolished to facilitate salvage. The former brewery has been redeveloped into a modern, mixed-use building called The Gunther, much like other Canton buildings. Gunther Brewing Company was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, which is maintained by the National Park Service of the United States Department of the Interior.

Canton is a historic waterfront neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The neighborhood is along Baltimore's outer harbor in the southeastern section of the city, roughly 2 miles (3 km) east of Baltimore's downtown district and next to or near the neighborhoods of Patterson Park, Fell's Point, Highlandtown, and Brewers Hill. Canton is considered one of Baltimore's trendiest and vibrant neighborhoods, known for its family-friendly community, urban lifestyle and hot spot for the social scene. The inclusive neighborhood continues to see rapid growth as more development opportunities come into the area. Since the late 1990s, the neighborhood has undergone significant gentrification and has been ranked the 16th most-gentrified zip code in the nation from 2000 to 2016.

Ellwood Park is a neighborhood in the eastern part of Baltimore, Maryland. It is named for a small public park with a playground between Jefferson and Orleans Streets. The neighborhood extends from Linwood Avenue and Haven Street, between Monument Street and Fayette Street. It is contained within the 21205 and 21224 zip code. Architecturally, Ellwood Park is made up of rowhouses constructed in the early 20th century. Most have front porches and the white marble steps. It is a community of mostly middle class to low-income residents. Neighborhood groups include the Ellwood Park Improvement Association and Family of Ellwood Park Community Association.

Patterson Park is an urban park in Southeast Baltimore, Maryland, United States, adjacent to the neighborhoods of Canton, Highlandtown, Patterson Park, and Butchers Hill. It is bordered by East Baltimore Street, Eastern Avenue, South Patterson Park Avenue, and South Linwood Avenue. The Patterson Park extension lies to the east of the main park, and is bordered by East Pratt Street, South Ellwood Avenue, and Eastern Avenue. Patterson Park was established in 1827 and named for William Patterson (1752–1835). The park consists of open fields of grass, large trees, paved walkways, historic battle sites, a lake, playgrounds, athletic fields, a swimming pool, an ice skating rink and other signature attractions and buildings. At 137 acres (0.55 km2), Patterson Park is not the city's largest park; however, it is nicknamed "Best Backyard in Baltimore."

Kresson is a neighborhood of Southeast Baltimore, Maryland, United States.The area currently known as Kresson is primarily an industrial district, though a small section contains a residential neighborhood. Residents of Kresson often refer to their neighborhood as Highlandtown, a larger, adjacent residential neighborhood. Kresson's boundaries are defined by Pulaski Highway (U.S. Route 40) to the north, East Lombard and East Pratt Streets to the south, Haven Street (north and south portions) to the west and rail tracks to the east.The residential neighborhood in Kresson is architecturally, like much of Baltimore, composed of rowhouses. These row houses were constructed around the year 1900. The 2000 census determined its residents to be racially diverse, though predominantly lower-income. The neighborhood of 395 people was 75.9% white, and 20.3% African American.Kresson Street, which runs through the heart of the Kresson neighborhood, from East Lombard Street to East Monument Street (0.1 miles outside Kresson) is a section of MD 150.The north-south streets are arranged in consecutive order alphabetically, so to the west of Kresson lie Baylis, Conkling, Dean, Eaton, Fagley, Grundy, Haven, Iris and Janney, while those to the east are named Lehigh, Macon, Newkirk, Oldham, Ponca, Quail, Rappolla, Savage, Tolna and Umbra.
