Coolfont Resort

John Herbert Quick House — also known as "Coolfont Manner House" — is a historic home located near Berkeley Springs, Morgan County, West Virginia, US. It was built in 1913, and is a large 2+1⁄2-story mansion in the Colonial Revival style. The front facade is two stories and features a pediment, with a one-story rounded portico topped by a balustrade. It was built by author John Herbert Quick (1861-1925).In 1961 the house and about 1200 surrounding acres were acquired by businessman Sam Ashelman, who went on to establish a hotel called the Coolfont Resort in 1965. The property, including the house, was sold to a real estate developer in 2005. In 2017 the house sold to an unnamed bidder for $225,000 as part of an auction of the entire former resort property.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It was called Coolfont Manner House after the springs of the same name.

Morgan County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 17,063. Its county seat is Berkeley Springs. The county was formed in 1820 from parts of Hampshire and Berkeley Counties and named in honor of General Daniel Morgan, prominent soldier of the American Revolutionary War. The county and town of Bath are considered an excellent jumping off point for exploring the Potomac and Cacapon Rivers valleys just to the north and west. Along with also being a tourist destination hosting numerous local artists, mineral water spas, and a large amount of outdoor recreation that includes fishing, boating, wildlife, hunting, and mountain scenery. The region is known for the famed Apple Butter Festival held annually in October. Morgan County is also the home of an important silica mine, part of U.S. Silica.

Smith Crossroads is an unincorporated community in Morgan County in the U.S. state of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. The hamlet lies at the crossroads of the Winchester Grade Road (County Route 13) with County Routes 26 and 13/1. According to the Geographic Names Information System, Smith Crossroads has also been referred to as Smiths Corners, Smiths Cross Roads, and Smiths Forks.

Rock Gap is an unincorporated community along Valley Road (U.S. Highway 522) in Morgan County, West Virginia, United States. It is located between Omps to its south and Berkeley Springs to its north. Situated between Warm Springs Ridge (1,086 feet) to its west and Timber Ridge (1,355 feet) to its east, Rock Gap takes its name from the "Rock Gap" in Warm Spring Ridge, carved out by Rock Gap Run, a tributary stream of Sleepy Creek.

Berkeley Springs High School is an American public, co-educational high school located in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. It teaches 9th through 12th grade and currently has about 747 students in attendance.

Berryville is a former independent community in Morgan County in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Located south of downtown Berkeley Springs, Berryville sprouted up along U.S. Route 522 at the beginning of the 20th century; first as a farming community and then as a residential extension of a growing Berkeley Springs. It remains outside the Bath town limits. Berryville includes Berkeley Springs High School, Widmyer Elementary School, and Greenway Cemetery.

T. H. B. Dawson House is a historic home located at Berkeley Springs, Morgan County, West Virginia. It was built in 1880 and is an "L"-shaped, two-story, brick house with highly ornate porches at the front and side elevations. It features Gothic Revival and Italianate decorative elements. The house was built for T. H. B. (Thomas Hart Benton) Dawson (1840-1921), a native of Berkeley Springs who attained prominence in community service and business affairs. It 1866, he was elected county clerk of Morgan County and held that position for 36 years.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is located within the Town of Bath Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Judge John W. Wright Cottage, also known as "Wisteria Cottage," is a historic home located at Berkeley Springs, Morgan County, West Virginia. It was built in 1872, and is a two-story, frame residence of board-and-batten construction in the late Italianate style. It features a simple hipped roof and a three-sided Victorian-era verandah and a one-story gable-roofed kitchen wing. The house was originally built as a summer home for John W. Wright, an influential 19th-century Federal jurist and associate of Abraham Lincoln.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is located within the Town of Bath Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The Samuel Taylor Suit Cottage, also known as the Berkeley Castle or Berkeley Springs Castle, is located on a hill above Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, United States.

Ambrose Chapel is a historic Methodist chapel located at Stotlers Crossroads, Morgan County, West Virginia. The land was deeded for a free meeting house for anyone who preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, in 1797 by (William) Henry Ambrose. The original building was a log structure and was later replaced. The current Chapel was built in 1851 and is a 1+1⁄2-story rectangular building with hewn log framing, stone foundation, clapboard siding, and metal roof. Also on the property is a cemetery with over 300 burials dating from the early 19th century to about 1945. During the American Civil War it was used as a Confederate field hospital in January, 1862 during Stonewall Jackson's Bath Romney Campaign.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Berkeley Springs is a town in, and the county seat of, Morgan County, West Virginia, United States, in the state's Eastern Panhandle. Berkeley Springs is also commonly used to refer to the area in and around the Town of Bath. In 1776, the Virginia Legislature incorporated a town around the springs and named it Bath. Since 1802, it has been referred to by the name of its original post office, Berkeley Springs. The population was 758 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Hagerstown–Martinsburg metropolitan area. The area contains mineral water springs frequented by Native Americans indigenous to the area, possibly for thousands of years. After settlement by Europeans, the mineral springs drew many visitors from urban areas. Notable colonial visitors to the area included George Washington and James Rumsey. Berkeley Springs remained a popular resort area during the United States' early years. It is the home of the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting, the longest-running and largest such event in the world. Another local tradition is the famed Apple Butter Festival, started by a group of local business owners in 1974, with overwhelming support from then-Mayor Frank Heiner. The area continues to be a popular resort area, with tourism the primary industry in the county and six full-service spas using mineral water.

Berkeley Springs State Park is situated in the center of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, USA. The centerpiece of the Park is its historic mineral spa. These waters were celebrated for their medicinal or restorative powers and were generally taken internally for digestive disorders, or bathed in for stress relief. Native peoples visited these springs as did George Washington. Berkeley Springs is the only state-run spa in the United States and is operated by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
