Blees

Bleesbruck (Luxembourgish: Bleesbréck, German: Bleesbrück) is a village in the commune of Bettendorf, in eastern Luxembourg. Located nearby is the confluence of the Sauer and the Blees.

Gilsdorf (Luxembourgish: Gilsdref) is a small town in the commune of Bettendorf, in north-eastern Luxembourg. As of 2005, the town has a population of 864. It is the town in which Prince Louis of Luxembourg married. While it was an unusual choice of venue for the wedding of a Prince of the ruling Grand Ducal family, it is supposed that its relative isolation from the City of Luxembourg proved to be a favourable factor. While the approach to media and publicity matters by the Grand Ducal family since the accession of Henri of Luxembourg in 2000 has varied markedly, it has been assumed that the presumed desire of the Grand Ducal family to avoid publicity, as far as possible, was a significant reason for the choice of Gilsdorf for the wedding.

Seltz (Luxembourgish: Selz or Sëlz) is a village in northeastern Luxembourg.It is situated in the commune of Tandel and has a population of 96.

Herrenberg (Luxembourgish: Härebierg) is a hill in the commune of Diekirch, in north-eastern Luxembourg. It is 394 metres tall, and lies between the towns of Diekirch, Bastendorf, and Gilsdorf. It is the site of the headquarters of the Luxembourg military, Centre Militaire (Military Centre), located in the "Caserne Grand-Duc Jean" barracks.

Tandel is a commune and village in eastern Luxembourg, in the canton of Vianden. It lies close to the border with Germany. As of 2001, the village of Tandel, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 87. The commune of Tandel was formed on 1 January 2006 from the former communes of Bastendorf (in the canton of Diekirch) and Fouhren (in the canton of Vianden). The law creating Tandel was passed on 21 December 2004.

Bettendorf (Luxembourgish: Bettenduerf) is a commune and town in eastern Luxembourg. It lies along the river Sauer. It is part of the canton of Diekirch, which is part of the district of Diekirch. As of 2001, the town of Bettendorf itself, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 1,045. Other towns within the commune include Bleesbruck, Gilsdorf and Moestroff. The privately owned Bettendorf Castle dates from 1728 and is built in the Baroque style.

The National Museum of Military History (Luxembourgish: Nationale Militärgeschichtsmusée, French: Musée national d'histoire militaire, German: Nationales Museum für Militärgeschichte), abbreviated to MNMH, is a national museum in Diekirch, in north-eastern Luxembourg, that includes amongst its exhibits military vehicles and weaponry, a photographic archive, and lifesize dioramas displaying military servicemen and actions.

Vianden (Luxembourgish: Veianen [ˈfɑɪɑnən] or (locally) Veinen [ˈfɑɪnən]) is a commune with town status in the Éislek, north-eastern Luxembourg, with a population of 2,203 as of 2023. It is part of the of the canton of the same name. Vianden lies on the Our river, near the border between Luxembourg and Germany. As of 2013, the town of Vianden, which lies in the east of the commune, has a population of 1,811. It is known for the Vianden Castle.

Bettendorf Castle (Luxembourgish: Schlass Bettenduerf; French: Château de Bettendorf) is located in the village of Bettendorf in eastern Luxembourg. While there appears to have been a castle from the 13th century, today's Baroque building dates from 1728 and was restored in 1962. The castle is privately owned and is not open to the public. In 2007, the castle and its parkland, were added to Luxembourg's national register of classified monuments.

Longsdorf (Luxembourgish: Longsdref) is a village in the commune of Tandel, Luxembourg. The hamlet of Marxbierg (or Marxberg) forms part of the village.

Diekirch (French pronunciation: [dikiʁʃ]; German pronunciation: [ˈdiːkɪʁç]; Luxembourgish: Dikrech [ˈdikʀəɕ] or (locally) Dikrich [ˈdikʀiɕ]; from Diet-Kirch, i.e. "people's church") is a commune with town status in north-eastern Luxembourg, capital city of the canton Diekirch and, until its abolition in 2015, the district of Diekirch. The town is situated on the banks of the Sauer river. The town's heraldic shield, showing a crowned lion on a castle, was granted in 1988. It is based on the town's 14th-century seal and arms.In 2001, the town of Diekirch itself, which lies in the south of the commune, had a population of 6,068. in 1977, Diekirch was the first town in Luxembourg to have a pedestrian zone. Diekirch is home to a brewery of national importance carrying the town's name. Three secondary schools are located in Diekirch: Lycée classique de Diekirch, Lycée technique hôtelier Alexis Heck and Nordstadlycée.The town is home to the national operational headquarters of the Luxembourgish Army at the Haerebierg Military Centre (located on the hill Herrenberg) and the National Museum of Military History, reflecting Diekirch's pivotal role in the famous Battle of the Bulge, called by the Germans Rundstedt-Offensive, a major battle of World War II. It was here that the river Sauer was crossed on the night of January 18, 1945, by the US 5th Infantry division. The town is also the seat of one of the six regional headquarters of the Grand Ducal Police and one of Luxembourg's two judicial districts. As far as sports events are concerned, Diekirch has gained a reputation for its annual cross country running competition — the Eurocross — which is an IAAF permit meeting and attracts world-class runners, with Gabriela Szabo and Irina Mikitenko among its past winners.

Diekirch railway station (Luxembourgish: Gare Dikrech, French: Gare de Diekirch, German: Bahnhof Diekirch) is a railway station serving Diekirch, in north-eastern Luxembourg. It is operated by Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois, the state-owned railway company. The station is situated on a branch of the Line 10, which connects Luxembourg City to the centre and north of the country. It is the sole station of the Diekirch branch, which divides from the main line at Ettelbruck.
