Elkhorn is a neighborhood and former city on the western edge of the city of Omaha, Nebraska, United States. The population was 6,062 at the 2000 census and was estimated by the Census Bureau at 8,192 in 2005. It was named after the Elkhorn River. Elkhorn was once an independent city in Douglas County until it was annexed by Omaha in 2007.

The West Maple Omaha Rock (nicknamed Rocko, also referred to as the west Omaha rock and similar names) is a boulder located in a parking lot at the corner of West Maple Road and North 156th Street in north-western Omaha, Nebraska, in the United States. It became the subject of significant online discourse as well as a local tourist attraction in late 2019 after over a dozen vehicle owners drove on top of it. This included at least six that had to be towed within six weeks. The rock was originally placed on a curb to prevent people from driving over it; however, it was sloped such that it was often not visible to taller automobiles and would get stuck between their wheels. A Facebook group dedicated to the rock, "The W Maple Omaha Rock", was created by employees of a nearby UPS Store and had over 25,000 followers in November 2019; a subreddit and Google Maps listing were also created.In January 2021, the rock was repositioned such that it was no longer sloped towards the road and a tree was planted near it to catch drivers' attention.

Zorinsky Lake Park is a park located at 156th and F streets in West Omaha, Nebraska. Named after Senator Edward Zorinsky of Omaha, the park has a 255-acre (103 ha) lake offering boating and fishing. The park is surrounded by 770 acres (310 ha) of public land, including 190 acres (77 ha) dedicated to wildlife management. The park is home to the Bauermeister prairie, which houses 120 species of plants, birds, and wildlife.

It is the state's most populous county, home to well over one-fourth of Nebraska's residents. Its county seat is Omaha, the state's largest city. The county was established in 1854 and named after Stephen A. Douglas (1813–1861), who was then serving as Senator from Illinois.Douglas County is part of the Omaha-Council Bluffs, NE-IA Metropolitan Statistical Area.In the Nebraska license plate system, Douglas County was represented by the prefix "1" (as it had the largest number of vehicles registered in the state when the license plate system was established in 1922). V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic High School, located in Omaha, Nebraska, United States, is a Catholic, college-preparatory high school established in 1993. It was named in honor of V. J. Skutt, the longtime Chairman of Mutual of Omaha, and his wife Angela Skutt, who were prominent donors toward the school's construction. The school has a 1:16 teacher-student ratio. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Omaha. In 2012 and 2022, it was announced that the Suburban Omaha-based Catholic School was one of only 50 private schools nationally to earn the prestigious title of "Blue Ribbon School." In 2015, the school came under fire when it declined to renew gay teacher's contract after his marriage announcement. The issue spurred a Change.org petition that garnered over 100,000 signatures. The teacher left the school to teach elsewhere.

Keith Lutz Horizon High School is a public high school located in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. The school first opened its doors on January 11, 2010 (due to snow days). It is Millard Alternative High School and houses a few Millard Academies. In 2005, Millard voters approved the fourth-largest bond project in district history, providing $78 million for the construction of Millard South; renovations to all three high schools, one middle school and one elementary school; and the purchase of new land and technology. Horizon was in this plan to become the alternative high school in 2010.

Millard North High School is a high school in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Millard Public Schools district. Millard North partially opened in 1978 for 9th and 10th grade students. In 1981, the second phase of the project was completed and the school began to serve students in grades 9-12; at that time, the school's name was changed to Millard North High School. The school completed an expansion in 2007. Millard North underwent a comprehensive renovation which was finished in 2016.
