Salzwedel-Land

Purnitz is a river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It flows into the Jeetze south of Salzwedel.

Salzwedel (German pronunciation: [ˈzaltsveːdl̩], officially known as Hansestadt Salzwedel; Low German: Soltwedel) is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is the capital of the district (Kreis) of Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, and has a population of approximately 21,500. Salzwedel is located on the German Timber-Frame Road.

Salzwedel station is the station of the district town of Salzwedel in Altmark in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Until 2004, it was a railway junction, but as a result of the closure of nearly all branch lines it has lost most of its importance. Only one railway line still runs through Salzwedel.

Altensalzwedel is a village and a former municipality in the district Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 July 2009, it is part of the municipality Apenburg-Winterfeld.

Chüden is a village and a former municipality in the district Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the town Salzwedel.

Wieblitz-Eversdorf is a former municipality in the district Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It consisted of the villages Eversdorf, Groß Wieblitz and Klein Wieblitz. On 1 January 2011, it was merged into the town Salzwedel.

Pretzier is a village and a former municipality in the district Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the town Salzwedel.

Lübbow is a municipality in the district Lüchow-Dannenberg, in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Benkendorf is a village and a former municipality in the district Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2009, it is part of the town Salzwedel. It derives its name from the ancient noble Benkendorf family, who descend from Johannes De Benkendorpe who lived around the year 1240. They are considered to be one of the oldest and most respected lower noble families in Germany. Variations in spelling include, Benkendorf(f), Benckendorf(f), Beneckendorf(f), Beckendorf(f), von Benkendorf(f) und von Hindenburg, von Beneckendorf(f) und von Hindenburg and several others. Some of the branches use the predicate of von, others however do not.
