Apalachin ( AP-ə-LAY-kin) is a census-designated place within the Town of Owego in Tioga County, New York, United States. The population was 1,131 in the 2010 census. The CDP is named after Apalachin Creek. Apalachin is in the southeastern section of the Town of Owego and is west of Binghamton. It is also part of the Binghamton Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Apalachin meeting ( AP-ə-LAY-kin) was a historic summit of the American Mafia held at the home of mobster Joseph "Joe the Barber" Barbara, at 625 McFall Road in Apalachin, New York, on November 14, 1957. Allegedly, the meeting was held to discuss various topics including loansharking, narcotics trafficking, and gambling, along with dividing the illegal operations controlled by the recently murdered Albert Anastasia. An estimated 100 Mafiosi from the United States, Italy, and Cuba are thought to have attended this meeting. Immediately after the Anastasia murder that October, and after taking control of the Luciano crime family (renamed the Genovese crime family) from Frank Costello, Vito Genovese wanted to legitimize his new power by holding a national Cosa Nostra meeting. Local and state law enforcement became suspicious when numerous expensive cars bearing license plates from around the country arrived in what was described as "the sleepy hamlet of Apalachin." After setting up roadblocks, the police raided the meeting, causing many of the participants to flee into the woods and area surrounding the Barbara estate.More than 60 underworld bosses were detained and indicted following the raid. Twenty of those who attended the meeting were charged with "conspiring to obstruct justice by lying about the nature of the underworld meeting" and found guilty in January 1959. All were fined, up to $10,000 each, and given prison sentences ranging from three to five years. All the convictions were overturned on appeal the following year. One of the most direct and significant outcomes of the Apalachin meeting was that it helped to confirm the existence of a nationwide criminal conspiracy, a fact that some, including Federal Bureau of Investigation Director J. Edgar Hoover, had long refused to acknowledge.

Crest View Heights is a neighborhood and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Owego, Tioga County, New York, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The community is in southeastern Tioga County, on the eastern side of Owego. It is bordered to the east by the town of Union in Broome County and to the south by the Southern Tier Line of the Norfolk Southern Railway. The CDP lies on a large hillside that rises to the north above the valley of the Susquehanna River. New York Route 17C passes through the CDP, close to the southern border. Route 17C leads northeast 4 miles (6 km) to Endicott and 11 miles (18 km) to Binghamton, and northwest 10 miles (16 km) to the village of Owego.

Tioga Terrace is a neighborhood and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Owego, Tioga County, New York, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The community is in southeastern Tioga County, on the eastern side of Owego. It is bordered to the east by the town of Vestal in Broome County, to the west by the hamlet of Apalachin, and to the north by New York State Route 434 in the valley of the Susquehanna River. NY-434 leads east-northeast 12 miles (19 km) to Binghamton and northwest 9 miles (14 km) to the village of Owego. Interstate 86 runs parallel to NY-434, just to the north of the CDP, with the closest access from Exit 66 in Apalachin.

Hiawatha Farm, also known as the Levi Green and Mary Montanye House, is a historic home and farm complex located at Owego in Tioga County, New York. The two story, five bay center entrance house was built about 1825 in the transitional Federal / Greek Revival style. Also on the property an English barn dating to the 1820s, garage, and chicken house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The B.C. Open was a PGA Tour golf tournament in New York, held annually from 1971 to 2006. In 1971, it was called the Broome County Open, and the next year it switched to the B.C. Open. In 1973, it became a PGA Tour regular 72-hole money event. From 2000 to 2006, it took place during the same week as The Open Championship, so the leading players were not available and it was one of the smaller events on the PGA Tour schedule. The purse for the final edition in 2006 was $3 million. The tournament was played at the En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott in Upstate New York for every event through 2005. In 2006, severe flooding of the adjacent Susquehanna River forced the event to move to the Atunyote Golf Club at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona. The event was operated by Broome County Community Charities, Inc. Since its inception, the B.C. Open has turned back to local charities in excess of $7.4 million through 2003. It was named after the comic strip B.C., created by Johnny Hart, who was born and raised in Endicott. Johnny Hart's B.C. characters were used in advertising the event. The B.C. Open was held for the last time on the PGA Tour in 2006 due to a schedule revamp based on the introduction of the FedEx Cup. The success of the Turning Stone event in 2006 led to that venue hosting a "Fall Series" event beginning in 2007, the Turning Stone Resort Championship. The Broome County Community Charities has hosted a Champions Tour event at the En-Joie Golf Course beginning in 2007, the Dick's Sporting Goods Open.

The Dick's Sporting Goods Open is a PGA Tour Champions event in Endicott, New York. It debuted in July 2007, supplanting the B.C. Open, a former PGA Tour event from 1971 through 2006. It is sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods, founded in adjacent Binghamton. The tournament is played at the En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott in Upstate New York. En-Joie Golf Club opened 97 years ago in 1927 under the original design of Ernie Smith. The golf course was originally built by George F. Johnson, the owner of the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company. Johnson created the golf course as a place of recreation for his employees who worked at the local shoe factory in Endicott. In 1998 and 1999, the golf course layout was renovated by Michael Hurdzan. He changed the original relatively flat, round greens into very large, undulating greens that challenge all level of golfers. With narrow, tree-lined fairways coupled with large, elevated greens En-Joie golf course is a true test for golfers of all skill levels.The event is operated by Broome County Community Charities. The purse in 2016 was $2 million, with a winner's share of $300,000.

West Endicott Hose Company No. 1 is a historic fire station located at West Endicott, Broome County, New York. It was built in 1926–27 by the Endicott Johnson Corporation as a part of its "Square Deal" program. It is a three-story, rectangular steel frame building, clad in red brick and cast stone. It is five bays wide by 12 bays deep. The front facade features second and third story porches supported by brick piers. The building also houses recreational facilities used by the local community.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

West Endicott Park Carousel is a historic carousel located at Endicott in Broome County, New York. The carousel was purchased about 1929. The carousel is housed in a wooden, one story, 16-sided, enclosed pavilion. The carousel has 36 figures: 34 horses, one pig and one dog, each of which is a "jumper," and two chariots. It was constructed by the Allan Herschell Company. It is one of six carousels donated to the citizens of Broome County by George F.
