Deadwood Creek (Oregon)

The Deadwood Creek Bridge is a covered bridge in western Lane County in the U.S. state of Oregon. Built in 1932, the 105-foot (32 m) Howe truss structure carries Deadwood Loop Road over Deadwood Creek. The crossing lies upstream of the rural community of Deadwood in the Siuslaw National Forest of the Central Oregon Coast Range. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.A concrete bridge carrying Deadwood Road bypassed the covered bridge in the 1970s, and the older structure fell into disrepair. Lane County officials decided to pay for repairs, and by 1986 the bridge was fully restored.

The Lake Creek Bridge also known as the Nelson Mountain Bridge, near Greenleaf, in the U.S. state of Oregon, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Greenleaf is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. Greenleaf lies on Oregon Route 36 east of Deadwood and west of Triangle Lake. The name Greenleaf was first applied to the community about 1885, and when a post office was established in the area in 1892, the same name was used. The name may refer to the abundance of bigleaf maple trees in the area. Greenleaf is also the name of a creek that flows into Lake Creek where the post office was first located. The post office was moved in 1908 about 3 miles (5 km) down Lake Creek. Greenleaf post office closed in 1987; Greenleaf now has a Deadwood mailing address.The 1928 Lake Creek Bridge near Greenleaf is a covered bridge listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Linslaw is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It is located about eight miles west of Walton on Oregon Route 126 next to the Siuslaw River.In 1917, when a petition was sent to the United States Post Office Department for a post office at this locale, it was approved with the name "Linslaw". Locals could not explain the source of the name, but the author of Oregon Geographic Names has a theory that the name was supposed to be "Siuslaw", and the handwriting on the petition was unclear and misread as "Linslaw". Linslaw post office was closed in 1957. The Coos Bay Line of the Southern Pacific Railroad had a station here. Today this line is owned by the Central Oregon and Pacific Railroad.

Wildcat Creek is a 16-mile-long (26 km) creek in Lane County, Oregon, United States within the Siuslaw National Forest. The creek empties into the Siuslaw River at Austa on Oregon Route 126. In the 19th century, the stream was named Walton Creek after Joshua J. Walton, a lawyer, Lane County judge, and member of the University of Oregon's board of regents. In the 20th century, the name was changed to Wildcat Creek.

Wildcat Creek empties into the Siuslaw River at this site, and the Lane County Park Service maintains a boat ramp. Austa was named after Austa Grace Yingling where she met her husband William John Vaughn, who drove a stage coach along the river.

Wildcat Creek, a tributary of the Siuslaw River, flows by Globe. One of the creek's tributaries, Pataha Creek, enters the larger stream at Globe.

Inlow was the name of a post office in Lane County, Oregon, United States, on what is now Nelson Mountain Road near the confluence of Chickahominy and Nelson creeks, approximately one mile north of Walton. Inlow post office was established June 20, 1899, and was named for either Igo Inlow or his father, "Doc" Inlow. The office closed to Hale in 1901.

Walton is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It is located halfway between Eugene and Florence on Oregon Route 126. Construction of Route 126 began in 1881, and after it crossed the Oregon Coast Range near Noti, it followed a tributary of the Siuslaw River named Walton Creek. Walton post office was established in 1884 to serve the settlers along the new route and postmaster James L. Atkinson named it for the stream. The stream was in turn named for Joshua J. Walton, a pioneer lawyer who served as a county judge and regent for the University of Oregon. After the turn of the 19th century, the stream's name was changed to Wildcat Creek.

Penn is an unincorporated community and former railway station in Lane County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It was named for the Penn Timber Company, which operated in the vicinity.Penn lies along Penn Road between Walton and Flagg in the Central Oregon Coast Range east of Florence. Wildcat Creek, a tributary of the Siuslaw River, flows by Penn.The name of the post office for Penn was McGlynn. Postal officials rejected Penn as the name for the office because it might be confused with other entities. They approved McGlynn, named after Thomas McGlynn, who owned the land where the post office was established. The McGlynn post office opened in 1923 and closed in 1938.

The North Fork of the Yachats Bridge is a covered bridge in Lincoln County in the U.S. state of Oregon. The bridge carries North Fork Yachats River Road over the north fork of the Yachats River, about 9 miles (14 km) northeast (by river roads) of Yachats and the Pacific Ocean. The structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.Otis Hamer, a veteran constructor of bridges, built the queen post truss structure for Lincoln County in 1938. It was the last of his covered bridges.At 42 feet (13 m) long, the bridge is one of the shortest covered bridges in Oregon. It is one of only two covered bridges in Lincoln County that are open to vehicular traffic; the other is the Chitwood Bridge. The weight limit on the bridge is ten tons; large trucks and recreational vehicles (RV)s are not allowed.After an accident damaged the bridge in 1987, county crews repaired it. They returned in 1989 for a more complete renovation, including new trusses, approaches, a new roof and new siding.
