The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute (Ohio State ATI) is a satellite campus of Ohio State University in Wooster, Ohio. It grants associate degrees from the university's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. The institute practices open admissions. The curriculum includes general and basic studies that are applied and technical courses, and a paid industry internship. Ohio State ATI is the largest institution of its kind in the U.S., enrolling approximately 500 students and offering 24 programs of study. Ohio State ATI is part of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and on the college's Wooster campus. Ohio State ATI awarded the most associate degrees in agricultural and related sciences in the nation among two-year institutions in 2011–2012.

Secrest Arboretum (110 acres) is an arboretum located on the campus of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), at the intersection of Pine Road and Green Drive, Wooster, Ohio. It is open daily without charge and hosts an estimated 10,000 visitors each year. Secrest Arboretum is the Ohio State University's primary research arboretum, and contains over 2,000 native and introduced species and cultivars of trees, shrubs, and other plants. Planting began in 1905. It was established in 1909 when Edmund Secrest set out the first planting for a proposed Forest Arboretum. As of 2005, the arboretum contains the following Ohio champion trees: Giant Dogwood (Cornus controversa), Nikko Fir (Abies homolepis), Nordmann Fir (Abies nordmaniana), and Japanese Larch (Larix leptolepsis). The arboretum also boasts a collection of Dawn Redwood trees, a fast-growing and deciduous conifer and the only remaining species of Metasequoia, and the Garden of Roses of Legend and Romance, which features about 500 varieties of roses.

Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) is the research institution of the Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. The center is home to research projects ranging from plant and animal sciences to human ecology and medicine, and includes branches across the state covering a total of over 7,000 acres (28 km²).

The Keifer Croco farm was a stop along the Underground Railroad. This was a parallel route to Wooster east of the route through modern Shreve. Along with the John Croco farm, next door, served as waystations and hiding places for slaves moving northward, prior to the American Civil War. From here, the escapee would be transported to Thomas Smiths farm. Smith would then forward them to Isaac Daniel directly or via Daniel Clark in Apple Creek. The attic was designed to hide escaping slaves. A trap door was hidden in the ceiling provided access. The John Croco barn, a half-mile away had a cellar, where runaways could be sheltered. Bill and Rosanna Painter purchased and restored the Croco house around 2001.(pg 105)
