Glabar Park is a neighbourhood in Bay Ward, in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is bounded on the west by Woodroffe Avenue north by Carling Avenue, south by The Queensway and on the east by Maitland Avenue. The population at the 2011 census was about 2,806.Most of the neighbourhood was built in the 1950s. The first part of the neighbourhood was built in 1950 in the area around Hare Avenue (surrounding the eponymous Glabar Park) by the F. J. Shouldice Construction Company and sold by the Brownlee & McKeown Realtors. Further development in the neighbourhood was done by Teron Construction and subdivided by J. P. Chenier Ltd. In 1985 townhouses on Esterlawn Private were built which is off Fairlawn Avenue just behind Fairlawn Centre. Today a few houses on Carling Avenue have demolished and turned into low-rise apartments. The neighbourhood is home to D. Roy Kennedy Public School, St Paul's Presbyterian Church, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Ottawa. It is home to two parks, Kingsmere Park and Lorry Greenberg Park. Kingsmere Park is the park with more of a social setting, it features a large wading pool in the summer, and a double-sized hockey and skating rink in the winter. These amenities are provided by the City of Ottawa. Fairlawn Mall is on Carling Avenue across from Carlingwood.

Iris station is one of the few grade-level stations on the Southwest Ottawa Transitway. It is located on Iris Street, a collector road in western Ottawa.It is both one of the smallest Transitway stations and one of the least used, likely because it is only 400 m (1/4 mi) south of Queensway station, has no trip generators apart from residential commuters in the area, and does not have any major routes connecting at the station. Only two suburban feeder routes (routes 50 and 58) enter the Transitway at this station. Iris station is being converted to a light rail station as a part of Stage 2 of the Confederation Line. As a result of this, numerous significant changes and realignments are being made in the vicinity, including the installation of a new bridge on Iris Street and the relocation of the Pinecrest Creek. In June 2022, the segment of Transitway between Iris station and Baseline station closed permanently, with buses currently detoured along Woodroffe Avenue and re-entering the Transitway at this station.

Queensway station is located around and under the Queensway along the Southwest Transitway in Ottawa, Canada. The upper platforms provide access to crosstown route 55, while the lower platforms are for Transitway routes such as routes 74 and 75 and eastbound trips of routes 61, 62, 63, and 64. The station serves nearby residential areas through the bikepath, which is to the west of the transit station. The station is scheduled to be demolished when construction begins for phase two of the O-Train.

College Square is a shopping centre in Nepean, a suburb of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, located at the intersection of Woodroffe Avenue and Baseline Road, and is north of Algonquin College. It has an area of 389,244 square feet (36,162.0 m2) and houses 35 stores and services across 11 buildings.Originally called Shoppers City West, the mall opened in November 1961. Over the years, the mall featured stores like Loblaws, Freimans, Towers (later Zellers), LCBO, BMO, Pet Valu as well as a miniature cinema featuring large TV's showing second-run movies and Chances R, a restaurant co-owned by former NHL player and Ottawa 67's coach Brian Kilrea. Other services detached from the main building included Top Valu gas station and car wash, Beer Store, McDonald's and a round-shaped building that had a convenience store, Pinto. In July 2001, Shoppers City West was closed and redeveloped as College Square by First Capital Realty and the Leiken Group. The new stores opened 2002—2003. Current tenants include anchors Loblaws and Home Depot, Beer Store, Dollarama, Garage, LCBO, Kettleman's Bagel Co., McDonald's, Pizza Pizza, Popeyes, Rexall, Reitman's, Starbucks, Subway, Tim Hortons and Tommy Hilfiger. Chances R and BMO are the only remaining original tenants.

The Fairlawn Centre (formerly Fairlawn Plaza) is a strip mall along Carling Avenue in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The mall opened in 1961 when the plaza's original tenants were Steinberg's grocery store and J. Pascal Hardware. Miracle Mart was also one of the early tenants.Canadian Tire was a tenant from December 1974 until it closed in March 2008 and moved to a bigger location 2 kilometres east on Carling Avenue. The Royal Bank of Canada also had a branch at the plaza. Fairlawn Diner, a dry cleaners, and a beauty salon and barbers shop which all closed during renovations in 2009–10. Business had been severely affected when Canadian Tire closed. The expansion of Carlingwood Mall directly across Carling Avenue, which itself had many of the same types of retail stores as Fairlawn Plaza, may be one reason for the mall's dwindling customer base. The site was partially redeveloped in the early 2010s. The expanded Fairlawn Centre now includes Harvey's, Swiss Chalet, H&R Block and Bridgehead Coffee.

Parkway Park is a neighbourhood in College Ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is bounded to the north by the Queensway, to the west by Cobden Road, to the south by Baseline Road and to the east by Pinecrest Creek and the OC Transpo Transitway. Developed during the late 1950s and early 1960s along with the nearby neighbourhoods of Kenson Park, Queensway Terrace North and South, Bel-Air Park and Ridgeview. The community is mostly middle class. In the Iris, Cobden and Elmira areas there are community housing projects. To the west of the projects is a small shopping strip on Cobden. Around Baseline, Highgate and Westbury there are three-story apartment buildings owned by Minto. Many Algonquin College students live there. Parkway Park is home to three schools: Terre-des-Jerres, Bishop Hamilton Montessori School and Joan D'Arc. Joan D'Arc is a girls private school (the school used to be Queensway Public School until its closure in 1999). Terre-des-Jerres recently moved from the former Whitehaven Public School location. The built used to be Des Laurier High School which moved the former J. S. Woodsworth Secondary School location on Chesteron and Viewmount Drive in Parkwood Hills. It is also home to the 2 parks, Parkway Park and Pinecrest Recreation Park with a baseball diamond. The Pinecrest Recreation Centre features meeting rooms, a gym, a swimming pool and a hockey arena a named after Canadian skater Barbara Ann Scott. Next to the arena there is a court named after Barbara Ann Scott with townhouses.

Whitehaven (also spelled White Haven) is a neighbourhood located in Bay Ward in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, about 10 kilometres west of downtown. It is bounded by Carling Avenue to the north, Woodroffe Avenue to the east, the OC Transpo Transitway to the west and highway 417 to the south. The population of the neighbourhood is about 2350 (2011 Census) Whitehaven was developed on the lands of Fox farm starting in the 1950s. The Fox farm homestead can still be found on Fox Crescent in the north part of the neighbourhood with its windmill tower now shaded by a large tree. Originally the east side of the neighbourhood was subdivided into large lots, typically 50 by 50 metres. In the 1960s, the west side was developed with smaller lots but mostly large custom homes. At the same time, many lots in the east side of the neighbourhood were subdivided and infill housing was built. Subdivisions have continued through to today, giving Whitehaven a very eclectic housing character. Whitehaven Crescent was built up throughout the mid 1960s as the area's namesake. The south west side of the neighbourhood contains a large park with a playground, with schools including D. Roy Kennedy Public School and Woodroffe High School. In the 1960s there was also a public primary school which operated until 1999 called Whitehaven Public School. It was closed for a few years after much dispute and then was reopened and expanded as a French primary school, called Terre des Jeunes. Whitehaven has plenty of transportation links, green space and shopping centres. The Carlingwood and Lincoln Fields shopping malls are within walking distance of the neighbourhood. Both shopping centres are serviced extensively by OC Transpo with Lincoln Fields being serviced by the Lincoln Fields Transit Station on the Transitway Whitehaven is also connected locally to a network of bike paths with direct access to downtown Ottawa.

Baseline is a public transit station directly across from the main campus of Algonquin College in Ottawa's west end, near the intersection of Woodroffe Avenue and Baseline Road. Many Algonquin College students and Centrepointe residents use this station to get to various points in the city, and to and from the college. Several residential and business areas such as Centrepointe and College Square are also served by this station. It is also a major transfer point for communities in the inner southwest part of Ottawa, making it one of the busiest stations. A small park and ride is also located here, which was the terminus for route 95 for many years until it was extended to Barrhaven. After this station, Route 74 and 75 buses leave the Transitway to travel on reserved bus lanes on Woodroffe Avenue, and re-enter the Transitway at the Nepean Sportsplex. Baseline Station was the first station to be constructed in 1983 when the Transitway was undergoing initial construction.

Sir Guy Carleton Secondary School is a secondary school in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The school specializes in Skilled Trades Education, with three Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSM) programs. It is an application based school serving students living in the west side of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. The school also has three OCDSB Specialized Special Education Classes: a General Learning Program, a Physical Support Program and a Behavioural Intervention Program. Offer of placements in the Special Education Classes is done by central board committee. The school is located in Nepean on Centrepointe Drive. Sir Guy is under the jurisdiction of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. Sir Guy is also known for their motto The School That Works; it is well-known not for its athletics but is for its classes.

Carlingwood Shopping Centre is shopping mall located in the Carlingwood neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The mall opened in 1956 and was one of the city's first major shopping centres. Since January 2021, it has been operated by Strathallen Property Management.

CKDJ-FM (107.9 MHz) is the campus radio station of Ottawa's Algonquin College. CKDJ's radio studios and transmitter are located on campus in Nepean. The station can be heard in the communities around the campus and by using the station's website for live streaming. The station was launched in 1972 as a closed circuit outlet using the call letters CBRT (College Broadcasting Radio Television). At the time, the radio and television broadcasting programs at the college were one unit, though they were later split into two completely separate entities. It was licensed by the CRTC to broadcast on FM in 1994, and was launched on October 3 that year.Until 2003 when it moved to its current frequency, the station broadcast at 96.9 FM with a power of only 8 watts.The station also operates a very low-power radio station at 1700 kHz on the AM dial, known as "AIR AM 1700 | All Hit Radio".

Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology is a publicly funded English-language college located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The college has three campuses, all in Ontario: a primary campus located in Ottawa, and secondary campuses located in Perth and Pembroke. It offers bachelor's degrees, diplomas, and certificates in a range of disciplines and specialties. The college serves the National Capital Region and the outlying areas of Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, and Upstate New York. It has been ranked among the Top 50 Research Colleges in Canada and has been recognized as one of Canada's top innovation leaders. The enabling legislation is the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Act. It is a member of Polytechnics Canada.
