Hopkins United Methodist Church

Brother's Partnership (also called Peter Harmon House) is a historic house in Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland. The house is located on a 600-acre tract patented in 1734 by Joshua Dorsey named "Brother's Partnership". The house built on the property is a wooden structure with L shaped additions. James and Harriet Shipley sold the 66-acre property to Peter A. Harmon and the neighboring Curtis-Shipley Farmstead in 1874. In 1890 a kitchen addition was built onto the house. In 1927 a major restoration was completed. The property has been subdivided with no visible signs of the original farm. The house is surrounded by modern buildings in a residential cul-de-sac.

The Curtis—Shipley Farmstead is a historic home located at Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland, United States. It is located on the first land grant in modern Howard County, then Anne Arundel County, to the English settler Adam Shipley in 1688 who settled properties in Maryland as early as 1675. The 500-acre estate was called "Adam the First". In 1874, the property was sold with buildings to Peter A. Harmon. A two-story Gothic Revival frame house built with an addition built by John and Lousia Curtis in 1891. Southeast of the main house is a gable-front frame garage, a one-story shed-roofed chicken house, a hog barn, a frame board-and-batten granary, and a board-and-batten bank barn with an unusually deep forebay. The property also contains Shipley and Brown family cemetery. William Smallwood in acquired the property and in 1883 the property was acquired by James A. Curtis, who willed it to his son Robert Curtis who in turn willed it his sons Robert Jr. and Glenn. In 1958 the existing porch was remodeled and converted into a full kitchen and indoor plumbing was added at that time. In 1992, the property boundaries were redefined by the Maryland State Highway Administration to accommodate the Route 100 construction through the historic farm. In 2002 56-acres was sold and subdivided to Buzzuto Homes for a development "Shipley's Grant" which surrounds the historic home now.The Curtis-Shipley Farmstead was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The East Columbia Business District is a section of the planned community of Columbia, Maryland, United States that features a number of large shopping centers and office parks. This district also includes the Columbia Gateway Business Park, which is home to more than 50 companies employing over 17,000 individuals. The business district provides shopping resources for much of Northeastern Howard County. Many locals refer to the area simply as "Dobbin" or "Snowden" due to the major roadways that serve it.

Long Reach, one of ten villages composing Columbia, Maryland, United States, is found in the northeast part of Columbia along Maryland Route 108. Started in 1971, it is one of the oldest villages, and comprises four neighborhoods: Jeffers Hill, Kendall Ridge, Locust Park, and Phelps Luck. The village, with an approximate population of 15,600, is governed by five elected village board members through "Long Reach Community Association, Inc." The Village Office is located in Stonehouse, the community center, which opened in 1974.

Jonestown is an unincorporated community in Howard County, Maryland, United States. The Jonestown area was a historic African American community near Ellicott City that was centered on the crossroads where Howard High School is presently located. The town's identity has been mostly absorbed into Ellicott City and Columbia's Long Reach village.

Pfeiffers Corner is an unincorporated area located in Howard County in the state of Maryland, United States. The community straddles the border between the census-designated places of Columbia and Ilchester. The postal community is home to the prominent Pfeiffer family, who owned Troy Hill. The 1895 Pfeiffers Corner Schoolhouse was converted to a private home, then moved to Rockburn Park.

Bellow's Spring Methodist Church (also called Mt. Pisgah AME Church) is a historic church in Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland. The church was built between Rufus Thompson's farm and Thomas Christian's farm (also known as Bellow's Spring Farm) in the African American community of Jonestown. In 1899 the building was relocated to its present location along Route 108, taking the name Mt. Pisgah AME Church in 1901.The church is dwarfed by a modern church constructed adjacent to the building and the historical building is kept in poor condition with overgrowth covering the entrance.

Howard High School is a public high school located in Ellicott City, Maryland, United States. It is part of the Howard County Public School System, and serves families from Ellicott City, Elkridge, Hanover and Columbia, Maryland.

Chews Resolution Manor, also known as Avoca, Resolution Manor, is a historic home and slave plantation located south of Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland. Avoca was patented by Samuel Chew in 1695 as "Chews Resolution Manor" and "Chews Vineyard". In 1877, the property was listed as part of the prominent Dr. Michael Pue's estate of 176-acres sold to Alfred W. Thoms. The land at the time was described as being "on the road from the Columbia Turnpike to Elkridge Landing and to Waterloo at the terminus of the 'New Cut Road' ... The neighborhood is noted for the salubrity of its climate, the beauty of its scenery, and the culture and elegance of its residents. Mrs. Comfort W. Dorsey, Messrs. James Clark, John C. White, Henry Winter, I. Monroe Mercer and Captain Jonett U.S. Navy, are among the nearest neighbors. ... The Dwelling is of Granite ... The Barn is immense."

Mount Zion United Methodist Church, is a historic African American Church located at 8537 Main Street in Ellicott City, Maryland. The building was constructed in 1874.

Mount Joy (sometimes called Santa Fe) is a historic slave plantation in Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland, which has a current address of 5000 Executive Park Drive. The farm is located on the original land grant named Chews Resolution Manor. In 1810, Dr. Arthur Pue owned land around modern Route 100. Pue was the family doctor for the Gorman family, who Senator Arthur Pue Gorman is named after. The Pue family farmed the property with 19 slaves. In 1851, Samuel Wethered Jr. purchased 206 acres of farmland, creating "Santa Fe" from Dr. Pue. In 1912, 193 acres of the property was purchased by the Buck Family. On October 10, 1980, the estate was purchased by K&M Development Corporation (Brantly Development Group Corporation) for $532,000. In 2003, Winchester Homes purchased the site. The main farm building is an L-shaped layout built of brick with a stone foundation, built about 1851. In 2003 the remaining 86 acres of the site was subdivided and outbuilding were demolished for a Winchester Homes Subdivision, leaving the farmhouse remaining. A barn was offered to the Howard County Conservancy to relocate off the historic setting.
