Searsport Historic District

The Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport, Maine, United States, is Maine's oldest maritime museum and is designed to preserve and educate people regarding Maine's and Searsport's rich and unique maritime and shipbuilding history. It was founded in 1936, and is located at 5 Church Street in the center of Searsport.

Searsport is an incorporated town and deep water seaport located at the confluence of the Penobscot River estuary and the Penobscot Bay immediately northwest of Sears Island and Cape Jellison in Waldo County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,649 at the 2020 census. Searsport includes the village of North Searsport. The town is known as "the home of the famous sea captains" and the "Antique Capital of Maine".

Built in 1863, it is a remarkably sophisticated example of Italianate architecture for a relatively small town, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 for its architecture.

Carver Memorial Library is the public library of Searsport, Maine. It is located at 12 Union Street in the town center, in a 1910 Tudor Revival building donated in memory of Captain George A. Carver, a Searsport native. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Pendleton, a prominent local ship's captain, businessman, and politician. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

The Capt. John McGilvery House is a historic house on East Main Street in Searsport, Maine. Built in 1874 for a popular local ship's captain, it is one of mid-coast Maine's finest examples of residential Second Empire architecture. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a contributing property to Searsport's East Main Street Historic District.

The Capt. John P. Nichols House is a historic house at 121 East Main Street (United States Route 1) in Searsport, Maine. Built in 1865 for a ship's captain from a prominent local family, it is one of Waldo County's finest examples of Italianate architecture, with a particularly elaborate cupola. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is now the Homeport Inn.

The East Main Street Historic District of Searsport, Maine encompasses an architecturally distinctive collection of five residential properties on United States Route 1 east of the town center. All five houses are at least somewhat Italianate in style, and were built by ship's captains between about 1860 and 1875. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991; three of the properties are also individually listed.

Watchtide by the Sea, once known as the College Club Inn, is a historic traveler accommodation at 190 West Main Street (United States Route 1) in Searsport, Maine. Based around an early 19th-century house and developed as an inn and tea room in the early 20th century, the property exemplifies the adaptive reuse of older properties for the tourist trade in Maine. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Mortland Family Farm is a historic farmstead on Mortland Road in Searsport, Maine. Begun in 1834 and altered and enlarged until about 1950, it is a well-preserved example of a New England connected farmstead, a property type that has become increasingly rare in Maine. The farm, at 16.3 acres (6.6 ha) a fraction of its greatest extent, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
