It was formally inaugurated by Prof. Madam J.Curie on 2 January 1950, as Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital, named after Chittaranjan Das, who donated land and property for the cause..This campus( first campus) also serves as a cutting-edge cancer research centre.

Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) is a medical institution and hospital on Sarat Bose Road, Kolkata, which functions under the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. It started in July 1932 as Shishumangal Pratishthan, a maternity and child welfare clinic by Swami Dayanand, a disciple of Sarada Devi. Swami Dayananda (born Vimal) was younger brother of Swami Madhavananda, the ninth President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission (1962–1965). In 1956, the clinic paved way for the present hospital. Today the institution runs a 600-bed general hospital, Ma Sarada School of Nursing, Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences, besides mobile health units and community health services for rural areas.

Asutosh College (Bengali: আশুতোষ কলেজ) is a college affiliated to the University of Calcutta, situated in Southern Kolkata, close to the Jatin Das Park Metro Station, gate No. 2. It was established in 1916 as the South Suburban College, under the stewardship of educationist Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee, who was the then vice-chancellor of the University of Calcutta. After the death of Sir Mukherjee, the college was renamed as Asutosh College in 1924. The principal of the college is Dr. Dipak Kumar Kar. It is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. The first college in West Bengal to be accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 2002, it was given an A grade with a CGPA score of 3.22 in 2016, helping it secure its position among the top four affiliated colleges of West Bengal.

Jogamaya Devi College is one of the oldest and leading women's colleges in Kolkata, India. It shares the same building with Asutosh College (day college) and Syamaprasad College (evening college) and is named after the wife of Sir Asutosh Mukherjee. South Suburban School (Main) was established in 1874. It was located at Hazra Pukur (now Jatin Das Park) in Kolkata, India. At that time it was known as South Suburban School, Kalighat. Pundit Sibnath Sastri was the first head-master. After a few years the school's name was changed to South Suburban School, Bhowanipur. The school was relocated to Govinda Bose Lane (its current location). The secondary building of the school was built in 1888 by an Italian engineer and its primary building was built in 1908. Asutosh College was established by the school. The school helps other schools including L.M.S. Institution (now known as South Suburban School (Branch), Sir Ramesh Mitra Balika Vidyalaya and Chakraberia High School.
