Area code 724 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in western and southwestern Pennsylvania, including most of the suburbs of Pittsburgh. It was created in an area code split of area code 412 on February 1, 1998, which made the 412 numbering plan area (NPA) an enclave for the city, with 724 surrounding 412. In 2001, area codes 412 and 724 were overlaid with area code 878, so that the entire southwestern corner of Pennsylvania is served by area code 878.

It is served by the Belle Vernon Area School District. Some buildings in the town antedate 1820. Like many towns in this area, Fayette City has been home to many coal miners supporting the coal industry in the region. It was the site of the Naomi Mine explosion, December 7, 1907. It was also the location of an explosion in the Apollo Mine in January 1926. Herbert Vargo Jr. is the current mayor. His term ends in 2025. He was first elected to the office in 1993.

The Locus 7 Site is an archaeological site in Washington Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. Located north of Fayette City, the site lies on a bluff over Downers Run about 2,000 feet (610 m) from the Monongahela River. It is believed to be the location of a former Monongahela village, but its date is uncertain; the village may have existed at any time between 900 and 1600.: 2  Its location on a bluff is unusual for Monongahela village sites, but this may have contributed to its preservation; most riverside Monongahela sites in the valley of the Monongahela River have been destroyed by development.: 3  Small-scale archaeological investigation at the site has revealed a wide range of pottery at the site, along with a significant amount of mussel shells; it is believed that a more extensive excavation would yield evidence of small round houses and a stockade.: 2  Such a large amount of potential findings has been theorized because of the limited disturbance that the site has seen: unlike most Monongahela sites in the region, it has been damaged only by surface cultivation by local farmers who used only horse-powered equipment.: 3  Locus 7's archaeological significance was recognized in 1980 when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is located in far northwestern Fayette County and is bordered by Fairhope to the east, Fayette City to the south, and Lynnwood to the north. The western border is the Monongahela River, which forms the Washington County line. Pennsylvania Routes 201 and 906 intersect in Naomi.

Fairhope is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Washington Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is in the northwestern corner of Fayette County, bordered by Lynwood to the northwest, Naomi to the west, and Arnold City to the east. The borough of Belle Vernon is 2 miles (3 km) to the northwest. Pennsylvania Route 201 passes through Fairhope, leading north to Interstate 70 and south to Fayette City. As of the 2010 census, the population of Fairhope was 1,151.

Hamer Hall is a multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Pennsylvania Western University California (known before July 2022 as California University of Pennsylvania) in California, Pennsylvania. The building is the home to California's athletic offices, varsity arena, natatorium, weight room, training room, classrooms and other facilities used by Vulcan student-athletes and the campus community. Hamer Hall's hardwood court is the current home of the California Vulcans men's and women's basketball and volleyball teams, while adjacent to the main arena, the first floor includes 10 locker rooms and the main athletic equipment room. Cal's six-lane, 25-yard competition pool, also used for classes and recreation, also has several locker rooms, new scoreboards and record boards, as well as the head coach's office and gallery seating for 250. The second floor features the main athletic office and space for all the varsity programs. In addition, the University's sports management program office is located in Hamer Hall. In the past, the building was the default location for commencement ceremonies, however, Hamer Hall ceased to host most sporting events and commencement ceremonies when the Convocation Center opened in fall 2011, ending Hamer Hall's 46-year tenure as Cal U's home court. Hamer Hall opened in 1965 and was rededicated in 2000, with the renovation and construction of a new "Alumni Room".
