The following is a timeline of the history of the city of Billings, Montana, USA.

Billings Senior High School, located in Billings, Montana, and part of the Billings Public Schools District, opened in 1940. Billings Senior High School is a comprehensive public institution.

Montana State University Billings (or MSU Billings) is a public university in Billings, Montana. It is the state's third largest university. Its campus is located on 110 acres in downtown Billings. Formerly Eastern Montana Normal School at its founding in 1927, the Normal School changed its name to Eastern Montana College of Education in 1949. It was again renamed in 1965 as Eastern Montana College (EMC). It merged into the Montana University System in 1994 under its present name. Currently, the university offers over 100 specialized programs for certificates, associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees through the university's five colleges. The five colleges of Montana State University Billings are Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, Business, Health Professions and Science, Education, and City College.

Prescott Commons is a historic building on the campus of Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. It was designed in the Tudor Revival style by Wallace H. Comstock, and built in 1915–1916 thanks in part to a donation from Amos L. Prescott, a financier from New York. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 30, 1982.

Rocky Mountain College (Rocky or RMC) is a private college in Billings, Montana. It offers 50 liberal arts and professional majors in 24 undergraduate disciplines. In fall 2013, the college had 1069 enrolled students. It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church (USA), and the United Church of Christ.

Billings Studio Theatre is a studio theatre and not-for-profit community theatre company located at 1500 Rimrock Road in Billings, Montana.The first performance by the company was There's Always Juliet in 1953. In 1963, the company decided it needed a home and moved into a church in downtown Billings. Five years later, the church became condemned and effort to build a new home began. In 1971, Billings Studio Theatre opened its doors to a new theatre located in the western part of Billings.Currently, the company produces several plays and musicals each year. There are both children's and adult productions and some more recent productions have included The Laramie Project, Oklahoma!, 12 Angry Men, and Wit. In 2013, it became the first community theater company in Montana to stage a "full version of the musical "Les Misérables"."About 500 people a year volunteer at the theater. The theater "showcases two Rocky Mountain College productions annually" and "operates a children's theatre, The Growing Stage."

Billings Logan International Airport (IATA: BIL, ICAO: KBIL, FAA LID: BIL) is two miles northwest of downtown Billings, in Yellowstone County, Montana, United States. It is the second largest airport in Montana, having been surpassed by Bozeman in both number of gates as well as annual enplanements in recent years, and is owned by the city of Billings. The airport is on top of the Rims, a 500-foot (150 m) cliff overlooking the downtown core. BIL covers 2,300 acres (9.3 km2) of land.The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a primary commercial service airport (more than 10,000 enplanements per year). Federal Aviation Administration records say the airport had 387,368 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2013, 388,329 in 2010 and 397,073 in 2009.Billings Logan International Airport has scheduled nonstop flights to several airline hubs such as Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Portland, Salt Lake City and Seattle. Billings also serves as a small hub for Cape Air, a commuter airline which operates nonstop flights with Cessna 402 prop aircraft to Glasgow, Glendive, Havre, Sidney and Wolf Point in Montana.

The Moss Mansion Historic House Museum is located at 914 Division Street in Billings, Montana, United States. It is a red-stoned mansion built in 1903 by Preston Boyd Moss (P.B. Moss) and his wife, Martha Ursula Woodson Moss, (Mattie). Mr. and Mrs. Moss moved to Billings from Paris, Missouri where, "There was more happening at midnight than at noon in Paris Missouri"

Billings Central Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Billings, Montana, United States. It is one of three Catholic high schools in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Great Falls-Billings.

First Interstate Center is a signature commercial office building located in the Transwestern Plaza, a complex consisting of four office towers with a total of 20 floors in the downtown core of Billings, Montana, United States. It is the tallest building in the northern Rockies, and the tallest in the state of Montana. It was built in 1985 and rises to 272 feet (83 meters). It is used primarily for office space.

The Austin North House, also known as The Castle, is a historic house in Billings, Montana. It was built in 1902-1903 for Austin North, his wife née Hattie Swartz, and their five children. North was a native of Iowa and he split his time between Billings and San Antonio, Texas. He was the president of the North Real Estate Investment Company, a real estate, mortgage and insurance company. He died in 1928. By the 1970s, the house was in mixed use, with stores on the first floor and residential apartments on the upper floors.The house was designed in the Medieval style by Link & Haire, a prolific Montana-based architectural firm. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since November 23, 1977.

Dehler Park is a multi-use stadium in Billings, Montana. It is primarily used for baseball and is the home of the Billings Mustangs of the independent Pioneer League. It is also the home field of the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets. The ballpark opened on June 29, 2008 and has a capacity of 3,071 people (6,000 including standing room only). It replaced Cobb Field which was a fixture in Billings since the 1930s. The groundbreaking ceremony took place March 22, 2007. The stadium was named by Billings businessman Jon Dehler, who purchased the naming rights in 2007 to honor his father, Billy Joe Dehler. The park still has part of Cobb Field included, as a section down the right field line includes some of the same bench seating used at the old stadium. Outside of that and the over 2,500+ individual seats are two grass berm areas for picnic seating. Patrons can walk around the entire field thanks to an outfield terrace, which is also home to those who buy a standing room-only ticket. Theoretically the stadium could feasibly hold well over 6,000 people with a large standing room-only crowd. The first event at the stadium was on June 29, 2008, an American Legion baseball game between the Billings Scarlets and Bozeman Bucks. The Bucks led 10–3 when the game was suspended after seven innings due to malfunctions with the lights. It was completed at Pirtz Field, the local Legion Ballpark, the following night with the Bucks winning 16–3. The first home run, hit by Matt Comer of the Bucks, was retrieved by a man riding a bicycle outside the stadium. After some speculation as to what would become of the ball, the owner of the ball came forth and agreed to donate the ball to the Billings Parks and Recreation Department for a Dehler Park Hall of Fame display.On June 30 the park hosted local Little League championship games before the Billings Mustangs and Great Falls Voyagers met in the first professional baseball game at the park on July 1. The Mustangs won a rain-soaked 9–7 game highlighted by a Michael Konstanty grand slam which stands as the first professional homer at the field. Attendance for the game was 3,749.In 2021 the park was featured in a Geico commercial. [1]
