St. Nicholas Hotel (New York City)

The Theatre Comique, formerly Wood's Minstrel Hall, was a venue on Broadway in Manhattan, New York City. It was built in 1862, replacing a synagogue on the site.

The E.V. Haughwout Building is a five-story, 79-foot (24 m) tall commercial loft building in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, at the corner of Broome Street and Broadway. Built in 1857 to a design by John P. Gaynor, with cast-iron facades for two street-fronts provided by Daniel D. Badger's Architectural Iron Works, it originally housed Eder V. Haughwout's fashionable emporium, which sold imported cut glass and silverware as well as its own handpainted china and fine chandeliers, and which attracted many wealthy clients – including Mary Todd Lincoln, who had new official White House china painted here. It was also the location of the world's first successful passenger elevator.

The New Era Building is an 1893 Art Nouveau commercial loft building at 495 Broadway, between Spring Street and Broome Street, in the SoHo section of Manhattan in New York City.

SoHo, sometimes written Soho, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan in New York City. Since the 20th century it has been the location of many artists' lofts and art galleries, and has also been known for its variety of shops ranging from trendy upscale boutiques to national and international chain store outlets. The area's history is an archetypal example of inner-city regeneration and gentrification, encompassing socioeconomic, cultural, political, and architectural developments.The name "SoHo" derives from the area being "South of Houston Street", and was coined in 1962 by Chester Rapkin, an urban planner and author of The South Houston Industrial Area study, also known as the "Rapkin Report". The name also recalls Soho, an area in London's West End.Almost all of SoHo is included in the SoHo–Cast Iron Historic District, which was designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1973, extended in 2010, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978. It consists of 26 blocks and approximately 500 buildings, many of them incorporating cast-iron architectural elements. Many side streets in the district are paved with Belgian blocks.SoHo is part of Manhattan Community District 2 and its primary ZIP Codes are 10012 and 10013. It is patrolled by the 1st and 5th Precincts of the New York City Police Department.

Soho Synagogue was a "hipster" synagogue located in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan, New York. On September 15, 2009, The SoHo Synagogue signed a 7-year lease for the ground floor of 43 Crosby Street, located between Spring and Broome Streets. Designer Dror Benshetrit designed the synagogue space.The SoHo Synagogue was founded in 2005 by Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Dovi Scheiner and his wife Esty.

The Museum of Women is scheduled to open in a five floor building that was formerly home to Topshop at 480 Broadway in SoHo in the summer of 2022. The museum was founded by Abby Trott and will offer interactive exhibits and a gift shop featuring products made by women. Its physical location is expected to run through the end of 2022 at least and will explore issues faced by women in contemporary society and culture.

Balthazar is a French brasserie restaurant located at 80 Spring Street (between Broadway and Crosby Street) in SoHo in Manhattan, in New York City. It opened on April 21, 1997, and is owned by restaurateur Keith McNally.: 182 McNally also owns Pastis, Cafe Luxembourg, Lucky Strike, the Russian-themed bar and restaurant Pravda, Odeon in Tribeca, and Schiller's Liquor Bar on the Lower East Side. Balthazar Bakery was later opened, at 80 Spring Street.McNally opened Balthazar in the theater district in Covent Garden in London, in February 2013. Balthazar London will reside within a building known as The Flower Cellars, sharing the space with The London Film Museum. The general manager will be Byron Lang.

Yellow Rat Bastard is the flagship establishment in a chain of New York City retail clothing stores and print magazine owned by Henry Ishay. It specializes in hip hop and alternative-style clothing and shoes.

Environ was a performance space that was influential during the Loft Jazz scene of the mid-1970s in NYC. It was located on Broadway in SOHO and close to two other noted Loft Jazz venues: RivBea and Ali's Alley. Environ was established by Chris Brubeck and Danny Brubeck sons and band mates of noted jazz musician Dave Brubeck. Environ was managed by John Fischer pianist leader of Interface with assistance by staff Mark Forman indie media producer and Brian Olewnick music blogger and reviewer for Bagatellen. Environ offered performance space to many Loft Jazz musicians, dancers and other performance artists. Dave Holland (former Miles Davis bassist), Anthony Braxton, Charles Tyler, Hamiet Bluiett, David Murray, Lester Bowie, Joseph Bowie, Chico Freeman were some of the many free jazz artists that performed there. James Siegfried, who was later to become better known as James Chance, and the Contortions (part of the No Wave scene in NYC) had his debut there. Environ attracted many of the future avant-garde jazz and No Wave musicians to its stage and audience. Muhal Richard Abrams one of the founders of the AACM practiced there regularly on the house piano.

The Center for Italian Modern Art is an American art museum and research center in the SoHo district of Manhattan, in New York. It specializes in Italian modern and contemporary art. It was started in 2013, and is a 501(c)(3) organization. It publishes an online journal, Italian Modern Art, and offers fellowships for study at the center or in Italy.

The Eleanor Ettinger Gallery was a private art gallery in SoHo, Manhattan. The gallery was founded in 1975 by Eleanor Ettinger. The gallery had started as a home for fine art lithography, with Norman Rockwell as the first artist to host an exhibition there. Notable artists that were exhibited at the Eleanor Ettinger Gallery included Malcolm T. Liepke, Alice Neel, and R. Kenton Nelson.The Eleanor Ettinger Gallery was later owned and run by Eleanor Ettinger's daughter, Frann Bradford, and Frann's husband James Umphlett. They had an interest in realism, and representational and contemporary art, and this was reflected in the work exhibited during their time running the gallery. In July 2010, they decided to move the gallery out of SoHo, and opened new two locations in Midtown on 57th Street and in Chelsea on 25th Street. The Eleanor Ettinger Gallery closed in 2013.

Mechanics' Hall was a meeting hall and theatre seating 2,500 people located at 472 Broadway in New York City, United States. It had a brown façade. Built by the Mechanics' Society for their monthly meetings in 1847, it was also used for banquets, luncheons, and speeches held by other groups. The building eventually became a playhouse. During this time, it was variously known as the Abbey Theatre, Butler's American Theatre, and other names. The blackface minstrel troupe Buckley's Serenaders saw great success there until 1846. Christy's Minstrels became the resident minstrel company in February 1847, buying the building later in 1847. They remained until July 1854, when the troupe disbanded. Bryants Minstrels played at Mechanics' Hall for the first time in 1857, leaving after May, 1866, when the house was taken over for a season by minstrel showman Charles "Charlie" White.In 1867, showman Robert Butler took over management of Mechanics' Hall following a fire that destroyed his former theater at 444 Broadway. Butler's luck was no better in the new venue as Mechanics' Hall was also destroyed by fire later that year.
