Bolgoda Lake or Bolgoda River (Sinhala: බොල්ගොඩ වැව, Tamil: போல்கோடா ஏரி) is a freshwater lake in the Western Province of Sri Lanka, straddling the border between Colombo District and Kalutara District. It consists of two main bodies of water, a Northern portion and a Southern portion, connected by a waterway called Bolgoda River. The lake drains into the sea at the estuary in Panadura.Bolgoda Lake is part of Bolgoda Environmental Protection Area, gazetted in December 2009 and consisting of 5 subdivisions: Bolgoda Ganga Bolgoda North Lake Bolgoda South Lake Panadura Ganga Weras GangaThe lake is a popular location for watersports with the Ceylon Motor Yacht Club been located on the shores of the lake since 1936. The waterfront properties around the lake are owned by wealthy and notable individuals such as Mangala Samaraweera and Susanthika Jayasinghe.

Panadura electoral district was an electoral district of Sri Lanka between August 1947 and February 1989. The district was named after the town of Panadura in Kalutara District, Western Province. The 1978 Constitution of Sri Lanka introduced the proportional representation electoral system for electing members of Parliament. The existing 160 mainly single-member electoral districts were replaced with 22 multi-member electoral districts. Panadura electoral district was replaced by the Kalutara multi-member electoral district at the 1989 general elections, the first under the PR system, though Panadura continues to be a polling division of the multi-member electoral district.

Holy Emmanuel Church is an Anglican church in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka (a southern suburb of Colombo). The current church building was officially consecrated in 1860 but the site has been used for religious services since 1799.

St. Sebastian's College (Sinhala: සාන්ත සෙබස්තියන් විදුහල, Tamil: செயிண்ட் செபாஸ்டியன் கல்லூரி) is a Catholic educational institution in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, established in 1854. The college enrolls over 4,000 students served by a staff of over 200. The college motto is "Exspecta Dominum Viriliter Age", meaning "Expect the Lord and act manfully" in Latin.

Prince of Wales' College (Sinhala: වේල්ස් කුමර විද්‍යාලය Wels Kumara Vidyalaya, Tamil: பிரின்ஸ் ஆஃப் வேல்ஸ் கல்லூரி) is a selective entry boys' school situated in Moratuwa, a suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa (along with Princess of Wales' College), was founded and endowed in 1876 by Sir Charles Henry de Soysa, a famous 19th century Sri Lankan philanthropist and was named in honour of Prince Albert, Prince of Wales The school became a fully government-controlled school in 1962. As of 2016 over 7100 boys are studying in the school in grades 1 to 13 including all main streams of secondary studies which include biology, mathematics, commerce and arts. The first Minister of Education, Dr. C. W. W. Kannangara and Dr. Tuan Burhanudeen Jayah, a senior minister, have both served on the staff of Prince of Wales College. Sir James Peiris was a former trustee of the college.For a very long time, the school has created a niche for itself in the field of sports. Prince of Wales College has produced many exceptional cricketers who, at one time or another, played for the national team. It won the Herman Loos Cup for cadeting many times in the past and has won international championships in rowing.

Princess of Wales' College was founded in 1876 by Sir Charles Henry de Soysa who was a famous 19th century Sri Lankan philanthropist and was named in honour of Alexandra, Princess of Wales As of 2014 over 4000 girls are studying in the School from grade 1 to 13 including all main streams of secondary studies which include biology, mathematics, commerce and arts. Currently there are 138 teachers in school

Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies (ACCIMT) (Sinhala: නවීන තාක්ෂණය පිළිබඳ ආතර් සී. ක්ලාක් මධ්‍යස්ථානය Navina Takshanaya Pilibanda Athar Si. Klak Madhyasthanaya) is an institute for research and technology transfer in Sri Lanka. It is named after its founder patron, Sir Arthur C. Clarke, the famous British science fiction author, inventor and futurist. The institute is mainly focused on conducting research in the fields of electronics, micro-electronics, telecommunications, information technology, space technologies and robotics, and providing training for relevant industry professionals. It is one of the few institutions of this kind in Sri Lanka.

The University of Moratuwa (also referred as Moratuwa University) (Sinhala: මොරටුව විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය Moraṭuwa Wiśwawidyālaya, Tamil: மொறட்டுவைப் பல்கலைக்கழகம்) is a public university in Sri Lanka. It is located on the bank of the Bolgoda Lake in Katubedda, Moratuwa. Apart from academics including undergraduate and postgraduate studies, the University of Moratuwa presents social and cultural activities, student services, societies, and sports and recreational activities. The institution was known as Ceylon College of Technology, Katubedda (Katubedda Tech) before gaining university status. Its roots go back to the Institute of Practical Technology founded in 1960 to provide technical education.

De Soysa Cricket Stadium (formerly known as Tyronne Fernando Stadium) is a multi-use stadium in Moratuwa, in southwestern Sri Lanka. It is currently used mostly for cricket matches. The stadium holds 15,000 people and hosted its first Test match in 1992. The ground opened in 1940 and gained Test status in 1979. Moratuwa, located just thirteen kilometres (8 mi) south of Colombo, is renowned for its carpentry, cricket and its philanthropists. Indeed, it was the most famous of these families that initiated the development of De Soysa Park Stadium, when they donated the 20,000 m2 (5 acres) plot of land to the Urban Council in 1940, to develop the Sports Complex. An additional 0.81 ha (2 acres) were sold below its market value by another member of the family. The ground was named De Soysa Park and subsequently used mainly for Moratuwa Sports Club (MSC) and school competitions.

Lunawa is a suburb in Sri Lanka lying on the coast just south of the capital, Colombo. Lunawa is a suburb of Moratuwa in the Colombo District of the Western Province. The main sources of income in this city are carpentry and fishing. There are also two government schools and an international school in the city. Among them are St. Sebastian's College.Among the shrines in the Lunawa area are the trinity of Buddhist shrines: Sri Visuddharamaya, Sri Bodhirajaramaya, Sri Visuddhasramaya, as well as St. Peter and Paul's Church, Uyana Methodist Church and Uyana Anglican Church.The only hospital in Moratuwa is located in the Lunawa suburb.
