North Richland Hills features popular businesses and locations, including the NRH20 Water Park, Medical City North Hills, and its own state-of-the-art public library. Additionally, NRH is surrounded by numerous communities, such as Haltom City, Keller, Hurst, and Southlake. It also housed the now-demolished North Hills Mall, which ceased operations in 2004. As of 2016, that site is now the new location of the North Richland Hills City Hall. In 2012, North Richland Hills was ranked at #44 as one of the Best Dallas Suburbs according to D Magazine.

Cross Timbers Park is a park located in North Richland Hills, Texas. The park claims 101 acres (0.41 km2) of land. Included in the park are playgrounds, walking trails and a youth baseball complex with three lighted fields and a practice field. In 2007 the baseball complex acted as the home field for the Tarrant County Blue Thunder of the Continental Baseball League.

The NYTEX Sports Centre is a 2,400-seat multi-purpose arena in North Richland Hills, Texas. It is home to the Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League and the Texas Jr. Brahmas in the North American 3 Hockey League. The facility was designed by architect Kent Holcomb and built in 1999 as the Blue Line Ice Complex before being renamed in June 2006. It is owned by NYTEX Sports, a management firm based in New York City and Texas.

Established in 1999, it was the third high school built into the Birdville Independent School District. Birdville High School is home to the Birdville Hawks and hosts grades 9-12. For the 2009-2010 school year, according to the TEA (Texas Education Agency), Birdville High School's population consisted of 6.3% Black/African American, 20.6% Hispanic/Latino(a), 68.3% White/Caucasian, 0.6% Native American, and 4.2% Asian/Pacific Islander.

North Hills Mall was a shopping mall on SH 26 in North Richland Hills, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth, Texas, United States. It held its grand opening on 12 September 1979. The property premiered with department stores, Stripling and Cox, Sanger Harris, and Mervyn's serving as anchor tenants. It would be successful for the first 20 years of its existence.

North East Mall (previously as Northeast Mall) is an American super-regional shopping mall located in Hurst, Texas, United States, a suburb in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. It is located below highways SH 121, SH 183, and is east of Interstate Highway 820 S. It features two units, the main mall and the outside being the Shops at North East Mall both encompassing a total of 2,134,000 square feet (198,000 m2) and featuring 135 stores. The mall features Macy's, Dillard's, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Penney's.
