Little Menominee River

The Sinsinawa River is a 21.1-mile-long (34.0 km) tributary of the Mississippi River. It rises in Grant County, Wisconsin, with headwaters just outside Cuba City, flowing southwards into Jo Daviess County, Illinois, joining the Mississippi a few miles west of Galena. The river is part of the Driftless Area of Illinois and Wisconsin. This region remained ice free during the last ice age, contributing to the rugged appearance of the river canyon. The name "Sinsinawa" is associated with Sinsinawa Mound in Grant County, Wisconsin. One version holds that "Sinsinawa" derives from an Algonquian word (possibly Potawatomi, Fox or Menominee language) for "rattlesnake" to describe the Sioux. Another version says "home of the young eagle".

Menominee Township is one of twenty-three townships in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,122 and it contained 419 housing units.

The Menominee River is an 11.3-mile-long (18.2 km) tributary of the Mississippi River, which it joins in Jo Daviess County, Illinois.The name "Menominee" refers to the Menominee, a Native American people. The name means "good seed" or "wild rice". The Menominee rises in Grant County, Wisconsin at the confluence of Louisburg and Kieler creeks one mile south of Kieler just east of U.S. Route 151 and flows south past Sandy Hook and enters Illinois just south of Wisconsin Highway 11. It continues south through the northwestern corner of Illinois for about four miles before reaching its confluence with the Mississippi River after crossing under U.S. Route 20.The river is part of the Driftless Area of Illinois and Wisconsin, a region that remained ice-free during the last ice age.

The Henry W. Miller House is a historic house located at 11672 West Norris Lane in Galena, Illinois. Henry W. Miller, a flour wholesaler and dealer who played an important role in Galena's large flour-producing industry, had the house built between 1847 and 1850. The house was built on a plot of land overlooking the plank toll road that connected Galena to Dubuque, Iowa and Mineral Point, Wisconsin; the route, which is now part of U.S. Route 20, eventually became known for its collection of large, elaborate homes. Miller chose the popular Greek Revival style for his house; its design features sidelights and a transom around the front door, a door surround with pilasters and dentillation, and a symmetrical front with six-over-six windows. Richard Barrett, who owned the house in the 1870s, added its Italianate bay window.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 13, 2010.

The Henry N. Frentress Farmstead is a historic farm located at 19140 U.S. Route 20 West in East Dubuque, Illinois. The farm was established in 1832 by the parents of Henry N. Frentress; Henry, the family's most noteworthy and prosperous farmer, ran the farm from 1876 to his death in 1899. His agricultural pursuits included both common farm products such as livestock and wheat, which he shipped to large markets on the Illinois Central Railroad, and several varieties of fruit, which he sold locally. He was also known for his engineering innovations; his most profitable was a new variety of barbed wire, the profits from which bolstered East Dubuque's developing economy. Henry and his mother also built the farm's Italianate farmhouse; the farmhouse is one of two main buildings remaining at the farm, along with a summer kitchen which dates to the 1830s.The farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 4, 2011.

Frentress Lake is a backwater lake located on the eastern side of the Mississippi River in Jo Daviess County in northern Illinois, to the southeast of East Dubuque. Homes on Frentress Lake experienced flooding in April 2011.

Greenwood Cemetery is a public cemetery in West Galena Township in the city of Galena, Illinois. It is located one mile west of downtown Galena at the intersection of US 20 (Ulysses S. Grant Memorial Highway) and Gear Street. Greenwood Cemetery interments include United States Civil War veterans and casualties along with a number of staff members from President Ulysses S. Grant's administration. Greenwood is an active cemetery and is open to the public.
