Pinchot State Forest is a Pennsylvania State Forest in Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry District #11. The main offices are located in Lackawanna State Park in North Abington Township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The forest is located on several tracts in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wyoming, Susquehanna, and Wayne counties. As of February 8, 2022, the total area is 49,635 acres (20,087 ha).The reorganization of Pennsylvania State Forests that took effect 1 July 2005, added the southern part of Luzerne County to District #11 (it was previously in the defunct Wyoming State Forest). Other aspects of the realignment include moving the District #11 office from Scranton 10 miles (16 km) north to Lackawanna State Park, and the acquisition of a new tract, "Theta Forest" (not included in the description above).

Lackawanna State Park is a 1,445-acre (585 ha) Pennsylvania state park in Benton and North Abington Townships, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania in the United States. Lake Lackawanna, a 198-acre (80 ha) man-made lake, is the central focus of recreation at the park. Lackawanna State Park is located near Dalton on Pennsylvania Route 524 just off exit 199 of Interstate 81. On June 1, 2023, the contractor for the park filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

North Abington Township is a township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located approximately 10 miles (16 km) north of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and is located in the suburban area known as “the Abingtons". North Abington is also approximately 6 miles (10 km) north of Clarks Summit and borders Waverly Township and Dalton Borough to the south, as well as Benton Township to the north. Originally called Abington Center, it was founded in the late 18th century by settlers from Connecticut, along the Warriors' Path. The population of the CDP at the 2010 census was 604.

Thomas G. Cupillari Observatory is an astronomical observatory in Fleetville, Pennsylvania, owned and operated by Keystone College.It is named after Thomas G. Cupillari, a professor of physics, mathematics, and astronomy at Keystone College, who founded it in 1973 after purchasing its dome and telescope from television personality Dave Garroway. Cupillari retired as a professor in 2007, stepped down as director of the observatory in 2015, and died of cancer in 2021.

South Abington Township is a township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,526 at the 2020 census. The census-designated place of Chinchilla is within the township. South Abington Township is the northern terminus of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension (I-476).
