Glenburn is a census-designated place (CDP) in Glenburn Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 953 at the 2010 census. It is approximately 10 miles (16 km) north of downtown Scranton, in the growing suburban area known as the "Abingtons". Glenburn is located north of Clarks Summit and south of Dalton.

The community is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 6 and Pennsylvania Route 438, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east-southeast of Factoryville. La Plume has a post office with ZIP code 18440. La Plume is located 11 miles northwest of Scranton, one of Pennsylvania's most populous cities.

Waverly is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the central community within Waverly Township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. Originally called Abington Center, it was founded in the late 18th century by settlers from Connecticut, along the Warriors' Path. The population of the CDP at the 2010 census was 604.

The Waverly Historic District is a national historic district that is centered roughly on Academy Street and Abington Road, and which encompasses Carbondale Road, Beech, Cole, Church and Dearborn streets in Waverly Township, Pennsylvania. It is bordered by Dalton and Glenburn townships to the west, North Abington Township to the north, the boroughs of Clarks Summit and Clarks Green to the south, and South Abington Township to the south and southeast. Waverly Township is part of a suburban area known as "the Abingtons". The population was 1,861 at the 2020 census.Prior to 2011, the township was named Abington Township, and was originally referred to as "Ebbington" in Connecticut's claim in 1806.

Pinchot State Forest is a Pennsylvania State Forest in Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry District #11. The main offices are located in Lackawanna State Park in North Abington Township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The forest is located on several tracts in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wyoming, Susquehanna, and Wayne counties. As of February 8, 2022, the total area is 49,635 acres (20,087 ha).The reorganization of Pennsylvania State Forests that took effect 1 July 2005, added the southern part of Luzerne County to District #11 (it was previously in the defunct Wyoming State Forest). Other aspects of the realignment include moving the District #11 office from Scranton 10 miles (16 km) north to Lackawanna State Park, and the acquisition of a new tract, "Theta Forest" (not included in the description above).

Kennedy Creek is a tributary of South Branch Tunkhannock Creek in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 5.3 miles (8.5 km) long and flows through Scott Township and North Abington Township. The watershed of the creek has an area of 6.17 square miles (16.0 km2). The creek is not designated as an impaired waterbody. The surficial geology in its vicinity consists of Wisconsinan Till, alluvium, bedrock, and fill. A number of bridges have been constructed over Kennedy Creek. The watershed of the creek is designated as a Coldwater Fishery and a Migratory Fishery. The creek flows through Lackawanna State Park in its lower reaches. It is crossed by two trails in the park and is utilized for canoeing.

Abington Heights High School is a moderate-sized public high school. It serves the boroughs of Clarks Green and Clarks Summit and the townships of Waverly Township, Glenburn Township, Newton Township, North Abington Township, Ransom Township and South Abington Township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. It is the sole high school operated by the Abington Heights School District. In 2016, AHHS enrollment was reported as 1,047 pupils in 9th through 12th grades. The school employed 76 teachers.The school is served by Northeastern Intermediate Unit IU19, which provides special education services, preemployment screening for future employees, inservice training and other services.
