George J. Michelsen Furniture Factory is a historic factory located in the north-central neighborhood of Rochester, Monroe County, New York. It was built in 1914, and is a four-story, L-shaped brick building with a flat roof. It is of heavy timber frame construction and features large window openings. The building housed a bedroom furniture manufacturing concern until the late-1950s.: 3, 6 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Saint Michael's of Rochester Roman Catholic church located in Rochester, New York. Standing at 246 feet (75 m), it is the 10th tallest building in Rochester. It is a currently active parish church within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester, Monroe Central Deanery, and is one of three churches that make up the Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini Parish, alongside Church of the Annunciation, and Our Lady of the Americas Church.

Congregation Ahavas Achim Anshi Austria, also known as Congregation B'Nai Israel, is a historic synagogue located at Rochester in Monroe County, New York. It was built in 1928, and is a two-story, Georgian Revival style brick building with decorative cast stone classical details. It is five-bays wide with the end bays being square towers and a recessed triangular parapet is between the two towers. The front façade features a portico with four Ionic order round columns. The building was used as a synagogue until 2004.: 3, 7 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Genesee Brewing Company ( JEN-ə-see) is an American brewery located along the Genesee River in Rochester, New York. From 2000 to 2009, the company was known as the High Falls Brewing Company. In 2009, High Falls was acquired by the capital investment firm KPS Capital. Together with newly acquired Labatt USA, KPS merged the two companies as North American Breweries. Along with this change, High Falls Brewery changed its name back to the original "Genesee Brewing Company" operating under the North American Breweries name. In October 2012, North American Breweries was purchased by FIFCO. In 2012, North American Breweries was the sixth-largest brewing company in America by sales volume.

Dundee was a Rochester, New York–based brewing company that produced ales and lagers. It was part of the Genesee Brewing Company, owned by North American Breweries (now FIFCO USA ) which started marketing the brand's first lager in 1994 as J.W. Dundee's Honey Brown. Honey Brown quickly gained a good reputation and won awards, most notably the gold medal at the 2004 World Beer Cup. The company produced one year-round craft beer, India Pale Ale, as well as eight craft beers available in seasonal variety packs: English-Style Ale, Kölsch-Style Ale, Pale Ale, Pale Bock, Pilsner, Porter and Stout. The company also produced four seasonal craft beers: Irish Red Lager (Spring), Summer Shandy (Summer), Oktoberfest (Fall), Nut Brown Ale (Winter). On October 29, 2020, Genesee Brewing announced the rebranding of Original Honey Brown Lager, their last product still bearing the J.W. Dundee brand, to Genesee Specialty.

Rochester School for the Deaf (RSD) is a private, tuition-free school for deaf and hard of hearing students to attend in Rochester, New York. It is one of the oldest and most respected preK-12th grade schools for children with hearing loss and their families in the United States, and one of nine such school in the state of New York. Serving the Central and Western portions of New York State, it has been educating students since 1876. Rochester School for the Deaf is an inclusive, bilingual school (Communication Philosophy) where deaf and hard of hearing children and their families thrive in an extraordinarily rich educational environment. The school's approach includes: New York State Regents-level educational programs; Direct communication through American Sign Language and English; Highly skilled teaching and support staff professionals; Inclusive, barrier-free approach to teaching and learning activities; and Support to students and their families through a wide array of accessible services.The intake evaluation process for deaf and hard of hearing children to attend RSD follows New York State Education Department procedures. Families in New York State with deaf and hard of hearing children – newborn to age 18 – can apply to RSD directly at any time. Parents of deaf and hard of hearing infants, toddlers and twos (children up to age 3) may request a referral to RSD from their county's Early Intervention program. Families with children age 3 to 5 can request a referral to RSD from their home school district's Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). Families with children age 5 to 18 can request a referral to RSD from their school district's Committee on Special Education (CSE). RSD support service staff conducts comprehensive intake evaluations. Each school has its own board of directors and receives financial support for operations and programming directly from the New York State Department of Education. These eleven schools form the 4201 Schools Association of New York State. The mission of the Association is to enhance the future of New York's children and advocate for the continuation of specialized services.

The bishop of the diocese is currently Salvatore Matano. The metropolitan for the diocese is the archbishop of the Archdiocese of New York – currently Cardinal Timothy Dolan. The cathedral parish for the diocese is Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rochester. The patron saint of the diocese is English Cardinal John Fisher.The diocese comprises 12 counties with approximately 350,000 Catholics and over 125 faith communities (parishes and chapels), 22 diocesan elementary schools and seven independent parochial high schools.

The Pont De Rennes bridge is located in the Brown's Race Historic District of Rochester New York at the base of the High Falls where it spans the Genesee River. The Pont De Rennes bridge formerly carried Platt Street over the river but was converted to pedestrian use in 1982 as part of a redevelopment of the High Falls area as an entertainment area. The bridge was renamed the Pont De Rennes for Rochester's sister city Rennes in France as part of the conversion. The Pont De Rennes bridge provides unobstructed views of the High Falls and downstream gorge.The bridge was designed by Leffert Buck, who also designed the Williamsburg Bridge in New York City.On July 5, 2023, the bridge was closed to pedestrian traffic for structural repairs and renovation of the public space on top, with plans to reopen in 2024.

Established in 2002, the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival Presented by M&T Bank takes place in June of each year, in Rochester, New York. It is owned and produced by RIJF, LLC, whose principals are John Nugent, Co-Producer and Artistic Director, and Marc Iacona, Co-Producer and Executive Director. The nine-day festival is held at 20+ diverse venues throughout downtown Rochester New York's East End cultural and entertainment district, including Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music, Hatch Recital Hall, Lutheran Church of the Reformation, Rochester Regional Health Big Tent, Max of Eastman Place, Montage Music Hall, The Auditorium at Broad and Chestnut, Wilder Room, The Little Theatre, Bethel Christian Fellowship, and multiple outdoor free stages and venues - all within walking distance and many on "Jazz Street" (otherwise known as Gibbs Street during the rest of the year), which is closed off for the festival's nine days. More than 90 free concerts and events are presented on outdoor stages and other free venues. A five-day Jazz Workshop provides an opportunity for elementary and high school music students to learn from and play alongside noted musicians performing at the festival. The festival supports the RIJF Eastman School of Music Jazz Scholarship, which has awarded almost $500,000 in scholarships since 2002 to 40 students to attend the Eastman School of Music. In 2008, attendance was estimated at a record 125,000 for the nearly 250 concerts presented.In 2010, 162,000 people attended the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival's 250 concerts presented over nine days, breaking the record set the prior year of 133,000.2011 saw another record-setting year with 285 concerts presented over nine days and in 18 different venues. Attendance reached an all-time high of 182,000.In 2012, the 11th Edition hit another attendance record of 187,000, a record number of headliner sell-outs, the addition of new venue, Hatch Recital Hall and 9 days of spectacular weather. Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers, Esperanza Spalding, Zappa Plays Zappa, and Daryl Hall "Live From Daryl's House" with special guest Keb' Mo' headlined this year. In 2018, the festival drew a record-setting crowd of more than 208,000 people from around the world to see more than 1500 musicians from 20 countries performed in 320+ shows. In 2019, the festival also drew more than 208,000 to see 1750+ musicians from around the world perform in 325+ shows. CGI Communications became the festival's new title sponsor as of July 2018, succeeding Xerox, which was the title sponsor for 10 years from 2009 through 2018. M&T Bank is the presenting sponsor.

Teoronto Block Historic District is a national historic district located in the Frankfort neighborhood of Rochester in Monroe County, New York. The district consists of 10 contributing buildings originally built beginning in 1844, with later additions and modifications. It is reflective of Rochester's early commercial and industrial development as an Erie Canal-oriented boom town. It includes a block long group of three story, brick commercial buildings, known as the Teoronto-Smith Block. They consist of nine five bay buildings with a continuous gable roof. Also in the district is a set of attached commercial / industrial buildings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Not Dead Yet (NDY) is a United States disability rights group that opposes assisted suicide and euthanasia for disabled people. Diane Coleman, is the founder and president. In 2004, NDY protested against the removal of Terri Schiavo's feeding tube. It also protested against the movie Million Dollar Baby, in which the injection of an overdose of epinephrine to euthanize a suicidal quadriplegic woman is depicted as a rational and compassionate act. The group has been highly critical of utilitarian philosophers such as Peter Singer of Princeton University. Coleman has called Professor Singer "the most dangerous man on earth" and asserted that he was advocating genocide. In June 2015, NDY organized protests against Singer's position that new-born babies with certain disabilities can morally be killed, which he sees as no different from abortion. The 2015 protest happened because Singer had recently advocated that expensive treatments should be withheld from disabled babies to save the healthcare system money; Not Dead Yet’s first protest against Singer happened at Princeton University after it hired Singer in 1998. Both times the protesters called for Princeton University to dismiss Singer.
