The Cranberry River is a river in central Massachusetts that is part of the Chicopee River Watershed. It rises in Cranberry Meadow Pond in Spencer, Massachusetts, and flows northward for 3.7 miles (6.0 km) to its confluence with the Sevenmile River southwest of Spencer.

Spencer State Forest is a Massachusetts state forest and recreation reserve located in the town of Spencer, managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. The 92 mile (148 km) Midstate Trail passes through the state forest. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts also conducts logging in some parts of the property.

East Brookfield is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 2,224 at the 2020 United States Census. The census-designated place of East Brookfield (CDP) is located in the town. The village of Union Chapel is also located in the town.

Lake Lashaway is a 293-acre (1.19 km2) pond located near the East Brookfield and North Brookfield, Massachusetts town line. The Lake Lashaway Community Association’s website is www.LakeLashaway.org. The town line cuts the lake approximately in half. The lake lies just to the north of state Route 9 as it passes through East Brookfield.

The Hodgkins School was a former elementary school in East Brookfield, Massachusetts, United States. At the time of its closing in 2002, it was the oldest continuously operating public school building in the state.

The Seven Mile River or Sevenmile River is a 9.6-mile-long (15.4 km) stream in central Massachusetts. It heads at Browning Pond, at the Oakham and Spencer border, and travels south through Spencer, following a short distance from State Route 31 (North Spencer Road). It crosses under Route 31 the highway becomes Pleasant Street, then continues south along Old Meadow Road and under State Route 9 near the junction of State Route 49. It then parallels Route 9 to its south until it joins the East Brookfield River between Lake Lashaway and Quaboag Pond.

Camp Atwater is a summer camp on Shore Road in North Brookfield, Massachusetts. Originally named, St. John's Camp, it was established in 1921 by Dr. William N. DeBerry on the shores of Lake Lashaway. The camp gained the name "Atwater" when Mary Atwater donated $25,000 to Dr. DeBerry in 1926. They were funded to honor her late father who was Dr. David Fisher. Camp Atwater's mission was to provide a summer recreational experience for African-American boys, at a time when summer camps were generally racially segregated. The camp catered primarily to middle- and upper-class African Americans, and drew attendees from up and down the Atlantic coast. Notable attendees include Coleman Young, Clifford Alexander, Jr., Clifton Wharton, Jr., Hazel O'Leary, Dennis Hightower, and Wayne Budd. The camp was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is now owned and operated by the Urban League of Springfield.The camp occupies 75 acres (30 ha) of land on the northern shore of Lake Lashaway. Of this, about 75 acres (30 ha) are wooded, while the developed area is mainly located between Shore Road and the lake. The camp owns 325 feet (99 m) of lakeshore, as well as a 3-acre (1.2 ha) island. Most of the camp facilities are organized around a U-shaped drive, and include the main hall, recreation hall, dining hall, and camper cabins. Recreational facilities include a variety of sports fields as well as basketball and tennis courts. There are fourteen camper cabins, housing between 8 and 25 campers in addition to counselors. The oldest building in the camp is White Cabin, which was built about 1760, and is one of two structures that predate the camp's founding. Located just on the north side of Shore Road, White Cabin was where the camp's first season of campers were housed.

Spencer is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Spencer in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,700 at the 2010 census.

The Pleasant Street School is an historic school building at 54 Pleasant Street in Spencer, Massachusetts. The two story Victorial Eclectic brick building was designed by the Worcester firm of Fuller & Delano, and built in 1883 by J. D. Morton. It follows a cruciform plan, with a large pavilion projecting from the main facade. The paired main entrances (one for boys, one for girls) are on the sides of this projecting section.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996, and was included in the 2003 expansion of the Spencer Town Center Historic District.

The Spencer Town Center Historic District encompasses the historic downtown of Spencer, Massachusetts. When first listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, the district covered 250 acres (100 ha) centered on Main Street between High and North Streets. A major expansion, the East Main Street – Cherry Street Historic District, added 45 acres (18 ha) of a predominantly residential area east of the center. The district was expanded twice in 2003, adding residential areas along Grove, Prouty, Pleasant, High, and Main Streets, and industrial areas on Cherry, Wall, and Mechanic Streets, as well as Luther Hill Park. The main period of historic interest is the peak period of Spencer's industrial history in the last quarter of the 19th century, although there are a significant number of properties that predate this period.
