The Top Gun House, formerly known as the Graves House, is a historic landmark in Oceanside, California known for being the location in a scene in the 1986 action drama film Top Gun, starring Tom Cruise. It was built in 1888 and utilizes Folk Victorian styles, being one of the earliest surviving examples of it in San Diego County. As of 2023, it is in possession of the Mission Pacific Hotel and contains a pie shop.

The Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre is a public entertainment and recreation complex located at the foot of the Oceanside Pier in Oceanside, California. Formerly known as the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater, also known as Oceanside Bandshell, the complex was renamed in 2012 posthumously in honor of football player Junior Seau. Seau was a hometown hero to Oceanside and especially its Samoan Community.

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is the major West Coast base of the United States Marine Corps and is one of the largest Marine Corps bases in the United States. It is on the Southern California coast in San Diego County and is bordered by Oceanside to the south, San Clemente and Orange County to the north, Riverside County to the northeast, and Fallbrook to the east. The base was established in 1942 to train U.S. Marines for service in World War II. By October 1944, Camp Pendleton was declared a "permanent installation," and by 1946 it became the home of the 1st Marine Division. It was named after Major General Joseph Henry Pendleton (1860–1942), who had long advocated setting up a training base for the Marine Corps on the West Coast. Today it is home to myriad Operating Force units, including the I Marine Expeditionary Force and various training commands.

Camp Pendleton South is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Diego County, California, located at the southwest corner of the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The population was 10,616 at the 2010 census, up from 8,854 at the 2000 census. Much of the population are residents of Camp Pendleton barracks situated in the area, as well as housing communities for married Marine and Navy personnel and their families. It, along with Camp Pendleton Mainside CDP, is one of two CDPs on the base.

The Oceanside City Hall and Fire Station, also known as Oceanside Civic Center, at 704 and 714 Third St. in Oceanside, California, was built in 1929. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It consists of two buildings, a single-story L-shaped city hall and a two-story fire station with a 50 feet (15 m) tower, which are visually linked by a retaining wall.The buildings were designed by architect Irving J. Gill in 1929 as part of a larger civic complex which was not completed.The listing included one contributing object.

Oceanside Transit Center is a major railway interchange in Oceanside, California, serving both intercity and suburban/commuter services. The station is used by Amtrak on the route of its Pacific Surfliner service between San Diego and San Luis Obispo. It is also a terminus for two different regional transit operators – Metrolink, the commuter rail operator for the Los Angeles area, has two of its services, the Orange County Line and Inland Empire–Orange County Line, that terminate at Oceanside (the only Metrolink station in San Diego County), while the North County Transit District, the operator for most of the public transport in the North County, has its COASTER and SPRINTER services also terminating at Oceanside. Oceanside Transit Center is also served by Greyhound Lines, numerous BREEZE buses, and is also the terminal for Riverside Transit Agency's Bus Route 202 to Temecula and Murrieta (which is temporarily suspended in response to the COVID-19 pandemic). COASTER and Metrolink trains going out of service will head to Stuart Mesa but due to the small facility, some Metrolink sets will either be kept at the nearby Fallbrook Yard or stored on an empty track south of the station.

The WWII/Korea LVT Museum is located in a Quonset hut-style building at Camp Del Mar, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, near the Assault Amphibian School Battalion Training Command. It houses exhibits on landing vehicles tracked (LVTs) from World War II and the Korean War, including six vintage models used by the US Marine Corps. The museum highlights the service of the "Alligator" Marines during the amphibious assaults of World War II and the Korean War. In 1996, the museum won the prestigious Colonel John H. Magruder III Award from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.

Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton is a large US Navy medical treatment facility in Oceanside, California, part of the United States' Military Health System. Located on Camp Pendleton in Camp Pendleton South, California in San Diego County. The current hospital operates in a 500,000-square-foot, four-story building that opened on January 31, 2014. The new complex was completed under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 2, 2010, and construction was completed on October 17, 2013. Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton has 150 beds, a 26-bed emergency center, nine operating rooms, six imaging rooms, and a labor and delivery unit. It also operates branch clinics in the Southern California area. It provides medical care for active-duty military, veterans and their families. Noted architectural achievements include a large solar energy system in the parking structure.The first naval hospital in the area was called U.S. Naval Hospital, Santa Margarita, California. It was established in 1943 on Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores, near Lake O'Neill, to care for the sick and wounded during World War II. It was built quickly, initially with temporary wood-frame buildings on 252 acres. By 1945 it had expanded from 600 to 1,584 beds. In 1950 it was renamed Naval Hospital Camp Joseph H. Pendleton, and has had several other name changes. After the war it was reduced in size, and rebuilt twice.

The Americanization School in Oceanside, California, built in 1931, was intended as an assimilation school where Spanish-speaking Oceanside residents would be taught English and civics. Historically, it reflects a time before the rise of multiculturalism where immigrants who arrived in the United States were more actively Americanized in assimilation programs.The building, now known as the Crown Heights Resource Center, was designed by Irving Gill. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. The school was one of the last works by Gill, a pioneer of modern architecture and one of nearby San Diego's most celebrated architects.
