Revala (also Rävälä, Latin: Revalia, by Henry of Livonia Revele, by Danish Census Book Revælæ) was an Ancient Estonian county. It was located in northern Estonia, by the Gulf of Finland and corresponded roughly to the present territory of Harju County. It was conquered by the Danish in 1219 during the Estonian Crusade. It also contained the town of Lindanise, nowadays known as Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The Icelandic Njal's saga—composed after 1270, but describing events between the years 960 and 1020—mentions an event that occurred somewhere in the area of what is now Tallinn and calls the place Rafala. The toponym, Rafala, was probably a derivation of Rävala, or Revala, or some other variant of the locally used Estonian-language name for the adjacent medieval Estonian county.

Harju County

Harju County (Estonian: Harju maakond or Harjumaa), is one of the fifteen counties of Estonia. It is situated in Northern Estonia, on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, and borders Lääne-Viru County to the east, Järva County to the southeast, Rapla County to the south, and Lääne County to the southwest. The capital and largest city of Estonia, Tallinn, is situated in Harju County. Seli, Rae Parish

Seli (sometimes called also as Selimäe, literally Hill of Seli) is a village in Rae Parish, Harju County in northern Estonia. It is a 3.5 kilometres long chain-like village along Vaida–Pajupea road (road nr 11201). Seli has a population of 24 (as of 1 January 2010).The administrative territory of the village includes Limu Lake, and eastern border of the village goes along Leivajõgi River. The latters are connected with a 1 kilometre long Trummi ditch. At the Vaida side of the village Kiviluks Ltd operates Seli gravel mine. Because of this many artificial ponds have been created. On an 1844-issued map Generalcharte von Ehstland the village has been shown as Sellimae. On an 1881-issued map Karte von Ehstland the place has been shown as Selli. In 1883 issued one of the first Estonian language map Eestimaa kaart (issued by Olevik newspaper) shows the name of the village also as Selli.

Vaida, Estonia

Vaida is a small borough (Estonian: alevik) in Rae Parish, Harju County, northern Estonia. It's located about 21 km (13 mi) southeast of the capital Tallinn, by the Tallinn–Tartu road (E263). Vaida has a population of 990 (as of 1 January 2010).Vaida was first mentioned in 1241 in the Danish Census Book. Vaida Manor (Wait) was established in the 1630s, during the almost three centuries of existence the manor had many owners. The 1-storey main building from the beginning of the 19th century was burned down during the 1905 Revolution. In 1911 an ethnic Estonian Jaan Saar built a new wooden main building, but this also burned down in 1945. Nowadays mainly the park has remained from the former manor.In the Soviet times a sovkhoz operated in Vaida. Nowadays there are primary school, library and a post office in Vaida.
