Little Hallingbury Marsh

Spelbrook railway station, also known as Spellbrook railway station, Spelbroke railway station and Spillbrook railway station served the hamlet of Spellbrook, Hertfordshire, England, from 1841 to 1842 on the Northern and Eastern Railway.

Thorley Wash or Thorley Flood Pound is a 17.3-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Thorley, south of Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire. It was formerly a flood pound for the Stort Navigation, which was decommissioned in 2004 and converted to a more natural state. It was purchased by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust from the Environment Agency in 2011.Habitats include tall wash grassland, which is now rare, marsh and waterlogged grassland. It has a wide variety of plant species, including reed sweet-grass and meadowsweet. There are flowers such as fen bedstraw and early marsh orchid. Breeding birds include snipe and water rails. The site also has the endangered Desmoulin's whorl snail, which is in the Red Date Book, together with diverse dragonflies, damselflies, birds, bats, small mammals and reptiles.There are five wooden sculptures by Daniel Cordell, commissioned by the Wildlife Trust in 2012.The Stort Navigation forms the boundary between Hertfordshire and Essex, and the site is on the Hertfordshire bank, but access is by a bridge from the towpath on the eastern Essex side. Access is restricted to footpaths due to the dangerous deep silt on the site.

Sawbridgeworth Marsh is a 6.3-hectare (16-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) near Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire, apart from a small area in the north which is in Essex. It is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust. The planning authorities are East Hertfordshire District Council and Uttlesford District Council.The site is a river valley marsh close to the River Stort, which has a varied wetland flora. Grazing and cutting of the marsh in rotation maintain biological diversity. The site also has an important wetland fauna and many moth species. Uncommon plants include marsh willowherb, marsh valerian and marsh arrow-grass, and drainage ditches and two ponds have a rich aquatic life.The site is always open and there is access from Hallingbury Road.

Great Hallingbury is a village and a civil parish in the Uttlesford District of Essex, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 713. It is near the town of Bishop's Stortford, and the M11 motorway. Great Hallingbury contains houses from the Tudor period to modern. Decrease in population has resulted in the closure of the village school; its building and its accompanying playing field still exist, but are converted to housing and a grazing field. Great Hallingbury has a church dedicated to St Giles. Village groups include a Brownie club and the WI which meet in the Village Hall. There is an annual flower show organised by either Great Hallingbury or Little Hallingbury.William Parker, 4th Baron Monteagle, best known for his role in the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, died in the village on 1 July 1622.At the edge of the village is the ancient Royal Hunting Forest and National Trust property Hatfield Forest. On 22 December 1999, Korean Air Cargo Flight 8509 crashed into the Forest near Great Hallingbury shortly after take-off from nearby London Stansted Airport. All four crew on board were killed.

Sawbridgeworth railway station is on the West Anglia Main Line serving the town of Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire, England. It is 26 miles 57 chains (43.0 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Harlow Mill and Bishop's Stortford stations. Its three-letter station code is SAW. The waiting room was added in 1960 by H.H. Powell of the British Railways Eastern Region Architect's Department with H.E. Green as the Project Architect. The ticket office was added in 1972 by S. Hardy with Project Architect P.H. Thomas. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Greater Anglia. Both platforms were extended to accommodate 12-coach trains in 2011. The station adjoins Lower Sheering in neighbouring Essex, and part of the station was previously in Essex.

In 2018, GCSE results "exceed[ed] national targets".The average grade at A level in 2018 was C, just below the England and Hertfordshire averages of C+. Absence and persistent absence were better than the England average for 2016/17.

Sawbridgeworth Town Football Club is an English football club based in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. The club are currently members of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division and play at Crofters End.

Rushy Mead is a 4.6-hectare (11-acre) nature reserve on the bank of the River Stort in Essex, between Sawbridgeworth and Bishop's Stortford. Until the 1950s it was the site of a pumping station for a sewage works. It is owned by Thames Water and Wimpey Homes, and managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust. The name Rushy Mead comes from an old map showing the area as riverside meadows.The site has areas of sedges and reeds with water near the surface all year. They provide protection for snipe and water rails in the winter, and sedge and reed warblers in the summer. The northern part is alder woodland with some ash and willow. In drier areas there is chalk grassland which supports a wide variety of wild flowers. The site also has many species of invertebrates.There is access from the Stort navigation towpath and from Hallingbury Road.

The school admits boys aged 11 to 16 in the first five years, with a mixed sixth form of boys and girls aged 16 to 18. The school had specialisms in Mathematics and Computing, focusing on these areas as well as music, drama and sport, possessing state-of-the-art in-house computing facilities and providing assistance to local schools in this area. The current Headmaster, Mr D Reeve, was appointed in January 2014.In September 2024 the school is due to move to a purpose built new school on nearby St James' Park.
