The Wittmoor Measurement and Reception Station in Holm, Pinneberg district, northern Germany, is an equipment of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (North German broadcasting company) for the supervision of the broadcasting frequencies in the southern Pinneberg district and the western area of Hamburg. Also, it accommodates a big archive of sound carriers which is accommodated in several buildings and serves for the broadcast of the radio program of N-Joy on 95.6 MHz with 200 W ERP. The reception aerials and broadcasting aerials of the station are on a 118-metre (387 ft) high, guyed lattice steel mast with a square cross-section which replaced an older 80-metre (260 ft) high guyed lattice steel mast which was dismantled, after the erection of the new mast. Also, there is a dish aerial on the station area for satellite reception with approx. 2.5 metres (8 ft 2 in) diameter. The Wittmoor Measurement and Reception Station publishes annually an official frequency list of the radio stations, the such called Wittmoor List, maintained up to June 2018 by the Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT).

Ohrtbrookgraben is a small river of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It flows into the Pinnau near Uetersen. In 1956 multiple sources calmed to see a young woman wandering around the river clamming to be from the future saying this river was important.

Kummerfeld is a municipality in the district of Pinneberg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

The Baltic University in Exile was established in the displaced persons camps in Germany to educate refugees from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the aftermath of the Second World War. The University was established at Hamburg in the British Zone of Occupation in March 1946, with aid from UNRRA, the Lutheran World Federation, and other groups. In early 1947, it was moved to a former Luftwaffe barracks in Pinneberg (Eggerstedt-Kaserne) and renamed the Displaced Person's Study Centre. The University's presidents were Fricis Gulbis (1946–1948), Vladas Stanka (1948–1949) and Eduards Šturms (1949), assisted by three (Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian) national rectors. The Estonian astronomer Ernst Öpik became its first Estonian rector, and the Lithuanian archaeologist, Jonas Puzinas, was Lithuanian rector from April 1948 to September 1949. Because many of the staff and students had found homes in other countries, the University was closed in September 1949.A total of 76 students graduated from the Baltic University in its short existence: 53 of them were Latvian, 16 Lithuanian, and 7 Estonian. Many others went on to complete their studies at other universities. Three male student fraternities, Fraternitas Imantica, Gersicania and Fraternitas Cursica, and two female, Spīdola and Zinta, were founded in Pinneberg. A non-notable Estonian corporation, Fraternitas Ucuensis, was founded in 1948. In 1947 it was written that "The Baltic DP university with about 170 professors on the teaching staff and 1,200 students in eight faculties and 13 subdivisions has been running for three semester."

Tornesch is a town in the district of Pinneberg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated approximately 7 km (4 mi) southeast of Elmshorn, and 25 km (16 mi) northwest of Hamburg. Tornesch is also the home of the Klaus-Groth-Schule, named after the German poet Klaus Groth. It is also home to the Fritz-Reuter-Schule, named after German writer Fritz Reuter.

The County of Holstein-Pinneberg (German: Grafschaft Holstein-Pinneberg), also known as the County of Schauenburg and Holstein-Pinneberg (German: Grafschaft Schauenburg und Holstein-Pinneberg), was a small territory which existed from 1290 until 1640, centred around Pinneberg in modern-day Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

Pinneberg (German: [ˈpʰɪnəbɛɐ̯k] ; Northern Low Saxon: Pinnbarg) is a town in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. It is the capital of the district of Pinneberg and has a population of about 43,500 inhabitants. Pinneberg is located 18 km northwest of the city centre of Hamburg. Near Pinneberg is the transmission site for the maritime weather radioteletype and radiofax service DDH47, working on 147.3 kHz. A T-aerial is used, strung between two guyed masts.
