The Wilds (Johannesburg)

36 Houghton Drive is one of a pair of buildings (Stands 1123 and 1125) situated in the suburb of Houghton, Johannesburg with fine craftsmanship in the Arts and Crafts manner. The buildings were designed in 1919 by the architect Piercy Patrick Eagle and commissioned by the original owner P.W. McKie. Eagle was a Transvaal Government Architect from 1904–1920, and he designed public buildings including Jeppe High School for Boys and King Edward VII High School.

St John's College is an Independent Anglican day and boarding boys' school situated in Houghton Estate in the city of Johannesburg in the Gauteng province of South Africa. It was founded in 1898 and comprises five schools: College, Preparatory, Pre-Preparatory and The Bridge Nursery, as well as a co-educational Sixth Form. St John's College is a member of the ISASA.

Brenthurst Gardens is a 45-acre (180,000 m2) private garden in Johannesburg, South Africa attached to Brenthurst Estate, the residence of the Oppenheimer family, led by Nicky Oppenheimer.

Munro Drive is a suburban pass through the Linksfield Ridge on the Witwatersrand range in Johannesburg, South Africa. It connects the suburbs of Upper and Lower Houghton. The drive is about 900m long and rises around 43m to the summit.

The Beacon Royal, also known as the Beacon Court, is an Art Deco block of flats constructed in 1934. This was a time of enormous growth as South Africa and the rest of the world emerged from the Great Depression. All over Yeoville and Bellevue in the years 1933 – 1934, blocks of flats were going up. The Beacon Court is located on stand 1044 at 55 Grafton Road/Louis Botha Avenue in Yeoville, Johannesburg. It was designed for PP Weisholtz by the brothers Obel and Obel who were also responsible for Astor Mansions in Jeppe Street and the Circle Court in Willie Street which overlooked Clarendon Circle at the time.

Yeoville is an inner city neighbourhood of Johannesburg, in the province of Gauteng, South Africa. It is located in Region F (previously Region 8). It is widely known and celebrated for its diverse, pan-African population but notorious for its high levels of crime and poverty. It is part of Greater Yeoville, a greater territory combining Bellevue, Bellevue East and Yeoville itself and its size, crime, poverty and population density levels is somewhat comparable to nearby Hillbrow. Yeoville is home to Yeoville Boys Primary School, Yeoville Market and Yeoville recreational centre.

Killarney is a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. A relatively wealthy area, located west of the M1 freeway, Killarney is a densely built-up area, and it has numerous apartment blocks, as well as a large shopping mall, Killarney Mall. Neighbouring suburbs include Houghton Estate, Riviera, and Parktown. It is home to the first shopping mall in Johannesburg. It was formerly known as the Hollywood of Johannesburg, due it being the location of one of the first film studios in South Africa. Killarney currently is home to consulates, tall residential building (including some of Johannesburg's best examples of Art Deco architecture) and a golf course. There is a large Jewish and Muslim community in Killarney. Killarney is very cosmopolitan and also has a large gay community.

Beit Emanuel Progressive Synagogue is a progressive synagogue located in Parktown, Johannesburg. The synagogue was established in 1954 and is one of the largest progressive Jewish congregations in South Africa. Israeli-born, Rabbi Sa'ar Shaked has been Beit Emanuel's congregational rabbi since 2013. It is an affiliate of the South African Union for Progressive Judaism (SAUPJ), which is part of the World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ). Congregational rabbi, Shaked is currently involved in efforts to establish a Rabbinic Academy and Higher Education Institution in Gauteng.

Parktown Convent for Girls (now Holy Family College) was a private girl's school founded in 1905. It is located in Parktown, South Africa. The school falls within Johannesburg East in Gauteng. In 1991, the school became Holy Family College.

Doornfontein is an inner-city suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa, located to the east of the city centre, Region 8.

The Berea Fire station was constructed to serve the northern district of Johannesburg in 1910. It is situated in stand 927/8 on Mitchell Street in Berea. It is sometimes known as the Doll's House and it is the oldest functioning fire station in Johannesburg. The station was built in a time when Johannesburg had electricity but paraffin lamps were still providing lighting, which added to serious fire threats.
