Queen's Medical Centre

The University of Nottingham Medical School is the medical school of the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, UK. Its first intake of 48 students graduated in 1975. Student intake has steadily increased to a current level of 330 students per year, including 90 from the satellite graduate-entry school at Derby, which opened in 2003.

Queen's Medical Centre is a tram stop on the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) network. The stop serves the Queen's Medical Centre, a hospital in the city of Nottingham. The stop is on line 1 of the NET, from Hucknall via the city centre to Beeston and Chilwell. Trams run at frequencies that vary between four and eight trams per hour, depending on the day and time of day.The tram stop is situated on a viaduct that rises alongside the campus of the University of Nottingham, crosses the Nottingham Ring Road (A52), runs between the South Block of the Queen's Medical Centre (to the north) and the Nottingham Treatment Centre (to the south), crosses the River Leen, and finally descends back to street level. The tram stop is on the section between the hospitals, and direct access bridges have been constructed from the platforms to the two buildings that will be opened once the necessary changes have been made within the buildings. Access is also available by staircase and lift from ground level in the hospital grounds, and by a walkway along the viaduct from another staircase and lift to the university side of the ring road.Queen's Medical Centre opened on 25 August 2015, along with the rest of NET's phase two. The adjacent bridge over the city's ring road was named the Ningbo Friendship Bridge at a ceremony attended by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham and the Vice-Mayor of Ningbo in China. The name celebrates Nottingham's links with its twin city and the presence there of a campus of the University of Nottingham.The tram line through the QMC had to be specially designed to avoid electromagnetic interference which could affect hospital equipment. The overhead line masts are individually fed with power, to limit interference.

Dunkirk is a residential area of Nottingham, England which is located to the south-east of the University of Nottingham and the Queen's Medical Centre. It is in the electoral ward of 'Dunkirk and Lenton', part of the Nottingham South constituency, with a population of 10,920 in the 2011 census.While home to many permanent residents of Nottingham, the area also houses numerous students, including many international students, mainly from east and south-east Asia. The area has become increasingly popular in the last decade due to its proximity to the university. Dunkirk has a nursery, primary school and the Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology; socially, there is the Old Lenton and Dunkirk Community Centre. Dunkirk also has a small industrial area, next to the Nottingham Canal. Nottingham Science and Technology Park, Nottingham Science Park, is also located in Dunkirk. There is a large cinema and entertainment centre across the canal from Dunkirk, adjacent to Clifton Boulevard (A52 road).

The William Woodsend Memorial Homes were erected in 1912–13 on Derby Road in Lenton, Nottingham.They were built as six almshouses in memory of local builder William Woodsend by his sons, Jack and Arthur. These almshouses have several conditions of tenancy including preference to be given to persons who, through no fault of their own, have become reduced in circumstances. Or, to women previously employed as governesses, nurses or school mistresses who have not been able to make provision for their old age. The William Woodsend Memorial Homes charity looked after the property and its residents from 1913 until 2007. When the charity managing the homes ran out of money in 2007, the homes were taken over by the Nottingham Community Housing Association.

It is situated on reserved track between University Boulevard (A6005) and the campus, and comprises a pair of side platforms flanking the tracks. The stop is on line 1 of the NET, from Hucknall via the city centre to Beeston and Chilwell. Trams run at frequencies that vary between 4 and 8 trams per hour, depending on the day and time of day.From the Chilwell direction, trams approach this stop along reserved track on the south side of University Boulevard, crossing the boulevard on a traffic light controlled crossing immediately before the stop, which lies parallel to the north side of the boulevard. Heading towards the city centre and Hucknell, the trams curve around the back of the Djanogly Art Gallery before climbing a ramp to reach the viaduct to the Queen's Medical Centre tram stop.The University of Nottingham stop opened on 25 August 2015, along with the rest of NET's phase two.

The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) (inheritor of the site and functions of the National College for School Leadership (NCSL)) was an executive agency of the Department for Education (a United Kingdom Government Ministry whose responsibilities extended to England only, not Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland). NCTL had two key aims, to improve academic standards by ensuring there was a well qualified and motivated teaching profession in sufficient numbers to meet the needs of the school system; and to help schools to help each other to improve. NCTL also supported the quality and status of the teaching profession by ensuring that in cases of serious professional misconduct, teachers were prohibited from teaching, and it had oversight of teachers' induction and awarded Qualified Teacher and Early Years Teacher Status.In April 2018 the National College for Teaching and Leadership was discontinued, its functions being absorbed by a new Teaching Regulation Agency for the regulation of the teaching profession, and by the Department for Education for other matters.

Highfields Park is Grade II listed park providing 121 acres (49 ha) of public space, in the west of Nottingham, England. It is owned and maintained by Nottingham City Council. It located alongside University Boulevard, adjoining the University of Nottingham's University Park campus. Due to its proximity to the university campus to the north, Highfields Park appears to be a part of the campus itself and therefore many refer to the whole area as University Park. There are historical ties between the park and the campus. The park contains a boating lake, complete with boats to hire throughout the summer months. The cascade and the stepping stones at the western end are Grade II listed. To the south of the lake the Tottle Brook, a tributary of the River Trent, flows on the surface, this brook is culverted for much of its length. At the eastern end there are children's play facilities and a pavilion with a cafe.

The Priory Church of St. Anthony, Lenton is a parish church in the Church of England in Lenton, Nottingham.

Lenton Priory was a Cluniac monastic house in Nottinghamshire, founded by William Peverel circa 1102-8. The priory was granted a large endowment of property in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire by its founder, which became the cause of violent disagreement following its seizure by the crown and its reassignment to Lichfield Cathedral. The priory was home mostly to French monks until the late 14th century when the priory was freed from the control of its foreign mother-house. From the 13th-century the priory struggled financially and was noted for "its poverty and indebtedness". The priory was dissolved as part of King Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries.

The GlaxoSmithKline Carbon Neutral Laboratory for Sustainable Chemistry is a chemistry laboratory in Nottingham, England. It is located on the Jubilee Campus of the University of Nottingham, and is part of the university's School of Chemistry. The school carries out research at the carbon neutral laboratory, which is the first of its kind in the UK. The construction was majority funded by GlaxoSmithKline, as part of their commitment to green chemistry first announced in 2010, and saw a grant of £12 million provided to the project.There are five teaching and research laboratories on the first floor, with write-up space for about 100 researchers. The laboratories have been designed to encourage sharing of equipment, in order to be more collaborative than traditional ones. There are also dedicated instrument rooms, including nuclear magnetic resonance, and space to work with schools on outreach activities. The laboratory contains a number of innovations to reduce its environmental impact including a wooden construction, a green roof, solar panels, and extensive use of passive ventilation.
