Arco de la Victoria

Moncloa is a multimodal station in Madrid, Spain that serves Madrid Metro Line 3 and Line 6, as well as city buses and intercity and long-distance coaches. It is located underneath Moncloa square and Princesa street near Arco de la Victoria and the headquarters of the Spanish Air Force in fare Zone A.

Moncloa-Aravaca is a district of the municipality of Madrid, Spain. It is located to the northwest of the city centre, spanning across both banks of the Manzanares. It is made up of the neighborhoods of Aravaca, Argüelles, Casa de Campo, Ciudad Universitaria, El Plantío, Valdemarín and Valdezarza. The Palace of Moncloa, located in Ciudad Universitaria, is the residence of the Spanish Prime Minister.

The Monument to Lieutenant General Manuel Cassola is an instance of public art in Madrid, Spain. It consists of a bronze statue of Manuel Cassola designed by Mariano Benlliure topping off a stone pedestal.

The Faro de Moncloa is a 92-metre (302 ft)-high transmission tower with an observation deck at the Plaza De Moncloa, Madrid, Spain. It was project by architect Salvador Pérez Arroyo and built in 1992. The tower was closed to the public from 2005 to 2015, when new safety regulations were introduced after the Windsor Tower fire took place earlier that year. It reopened to the public in April 2015.

Operation Galaxia (Spanish: Operación Galaxia) was the codename given to the plan which preceded the 23-F attempted coup d'état in Spain. It was named Galaxia, because the officers who took part met in Cafetería Galaxia in Madrid (later known as Van Gogh Café, and as of 2019 is a Taco Bell), on 11 November 1978. It was meant to take place on 17 November 1978, to stop the Spanish transition to democracy taking place at that time. That date was chosen because the King, Juan Carlos, would be away in South America. The three people in charge of the operation were Guardia Civil Lieutenant-Colonel Antonio Tejero, Major Ricardo Saenz Ynestrillas, and another colonel, whose name has not been revealed. An Infantry Captain of the Police, and an Infantry Commander of the Army were present at the conversation, and informed their superiors of the plot. On 8 May 1980, the two main suspects, Tejero and Ynestrillas, were court-martialled, and on their way, they were cheered by crowds with nationalist flags, but also insulted, which showed the division of Spain at that time. The attorney general asked for six years for Tejero, and five for Ynestrillas, but they were only given seven months and a day and six months and a day respectively, the minimum sentence. Neither of them lost their military rank, and Ynestrillas was later promoted to Commander (major).

A la Hispanidad or the Monument to Hispanidad (Spanish: Monumento a la Hispanidad) is an instance of public art in Madrid, Spain. The sculptural group is an allegory of the "meeting" of two civilizations.

In the Cárcel Modelo massacre, at the outset of the Spanish Civil War, a group of anarchist militiamen occupied the Madrid prison on August 22, 1936, and killed about 30 politicians and soldiers held there. Following rumors that the prisoners—suspected political and military supporters of the 1936 military uprising—were escaping, an angry throng assembled at the prison's gates and demanded the execution of the "fascists". A group of anarchist militiamen took control of the prison and that night executed well-known politicians and soldiers. The reputation of the republican government faltered from its inability to quell the crowd and protect the prisoners. The incident sparked protests from the diplomatic corps in Madrid.

The Statue of Vasco Núñez de Balboa is an instance of public art in Madrid, Spain. Located in the Ciudad Universitaria, next to the Museum of the Americas, it consists of a bronze sculpture of Vasco Núñez de Balboa, best known for his exploration across the Isthmus of Panama and the discovery of the Pacific Ocean.

The Museo de América (English: Museum of America) is a Spanish national museum of arts, archaeology and ethnography in Madrid. Its collections cover the whole of the Americas and range from the Paleolithic period to the present day. It is owned by the Spanish State and its initial pieces came from the former collection of American archaeological and ethnographic artifacts from the National Archaeological Museum, also exhibiting a number of unrelated donations, deposits and purchases.

The Hospital Clínico San Carlos is a hospital located at the Ciudad Universitaria neighborhood in Madrid, Spain, part of hospital network of the Servicio Madrileño de Salud (SERMAS). It is one of the healthcare institutions associated to the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) for the purpose of clinical internship.

The Casa de las Flores is a block of flats in the Chamberí district of Madrid, designed by Secundino Zuazo in 1931. The distribution of spaces with its central landscaped corridor has provided a model for architecture students studying the fifties and sixties. It is located on the corner of Calle de la Princesa (Hilarión Eslava, Rodríguez San Pedro, Gaztambide and Meléndez Valdés streets), and has balconies decorated with flower boxes, from which the name of the building is derived. The poet Pablo Neruda lived in this house in 1934, and the writer Emilio Carrere lived in it until his death. In 1981, the building began the process of being registered as a bien de interés cultural (cultural heritage) site.

Gaztambide is an administrative neighborhood (barrio) of Madrid belonging to the district of Chamberí. It has an area of 0.506596 km2 (0.195598 sq mi). As of 1 February 2021, it has a population of 23,038.
