University of Piraeus (UniPi; Greek: Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς, abbr. ΠαΠει) is a Greek public university located in Piraeus, Greece with a total of ten academic departments focused mainly on Business Management, Computer science, Economics, Finance and Maritime Studies.This university is the second-oldest business school established in Greece, while the Department of Banking and Financial Management is the country's oldest academic department in the area of finance.

The Veakio Municipal Theater (Greek: Βεάκειο Δημοτικό Θέατρο) is a 2,000-seat open-air amphitheater located in the Kastella neighborhood of Piraeus, Greece. Built in 1969 during Greece's military junta period, the theater was originally named "Skylitsio" after the junta-appointed mayor who commissioned it. Following the restoration of democracy, it was renamed in 1976 to honor Aimilios Veakis, one of Greece's most celebrated actors and a Greek Resistance fighter. The venue serves as a premier summer cultural destination in the Athens metropolitan area, hosting ancient Greek drama, contemporary theater, concerts, and dance performances.

The Battle of Munychia was fought between Athenians exiled by the oligarchic government of the Thirty Tyrants and the forces of that government, supported by a Spartan garrison. In the battle, a substantially superior force composed of the Spartan garrison of Athens and the army of the oligarchic government attacked a hill in Piraeus (the Munychia) which had been seized by 1,000 exiles under Thrasybulus, but was defeated. After this defeat, the Thirty Tyrants were forced to flee to Eleusis.

Munichia or Munychia (; Greek: Μουνιχία or Μουνυχία) is the ancient Greek name for a steep hill (86 metres (282 ft) high) in Piraeus, Greece, known today as Kastella (Καστέλλα). This is a fashionable neighborhood in Piraeus. On the top of the hill is a Greek Orthodox church named after the Prophet Elijah. The narrow streets around the church are surrounded by picturesque houses. The Veakeio Theater, known for its summer performances is located here. In 403 BCE, Athenian democrats defeated forces of the Thirty Tyrants at the Battle of Munychia. In Antiquity there was also a local festival to Artemis.

Dimotiko Theatro (Greek: Δημοτικό Θέατρο, lit. 'Municipal Theatre') is a station in Piraeus, Greece. It is the southwestern terminus of Athens Metro Line 3. It opened in October 10, 2022, as part of the Line 3 extension to Piraeus.

The Bay of Zea, since Ottoman times and until recently known as Paşalimanı (Πασαλιμάνι), is a broad bay located at the eastern coast of the Piraeus peninsula in Athens, Greece. It hosted the swimming events at the 1896 Summer Olympics held in Athens. A seaport and marina are in the bay. During ancient times this bay was the biggest Athenian military harbour, where the fleet of triremes were built. Following its renovation in 2004 in relation to the 2004 Summer Olympics, the seaport now has a total of 670 berths for boats up to 150 meters in length and up to 10 meters in draught. The marina is managed by D Marinas Hellas, a global marinas network, that manages requests and reservations for berthing at Zea as well as services offered at the marina such as fuel, bathrooms, showers, port police, etc. The marina is also a part of the Greek Marinas Association.

It is located eight kilometres (5 mi) southwest of Athens' city centre, along the east coast of the Saronic Gulf in the Athens Riviera. The municipality of Piraeus and four other suburban municipalities form the regional unit of Piraeus, sometimes called the Greater Piraeus area, with a total population of 448,997. At the 2011 census, Piraeus had a population of 163,688 people, making it the fifth largest municipality in Greece and the second largest (after the municipality of Athens) within the Athens urban area. Piraeus has a long recorded history, dating back to ancient Greece. The city was founded in the early 5th century BC, when plans to make it the new port of Athens were implemented: A prototype harbour was constructed, which resulted in concentrating in one location all the import and transit trade of Athens, along with the navy's base. During the Golden Age of Athens, the Long Walls were constructed to fortify the route from the main settlement to the port (Piraeus). During the classical period, the naval base in Piraeus had 372 trireme shipsheds. Beginning in the 3rd century B.C., Piraeus went into a period of cumulative decline. However, it began growing once again in the 19th century, after Athens was made the capital of Greece. Today, Piraeus is a large city, bustling with activity, and an integral part of Athens. It is a huge marine and commercial-industrial centre, and home to Greece’s largest harbour. The port of Piraeus is the chief port in Greece, the 5th largest passenger port in Europe and the 24th largest passenger port in the world serving about 4,37 million passengers annually in 2020. With a throughput of 5.44 million TEUs, Piraeus is among the busiest ten ports in Europe in terms of container traffic, and is the busiest container port in the Eastern Mediterranean. The city hosted events in both the 1896 and 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens. The University of Piraeus is one of the largest universities in Greece, and includes the country's second-oldest business school, as well as the oldest academic department dedicated to the study of finance.

The Piraeus Municipal Theatre is a neoclassical building built on plans by the architect Ioannis Lazarimos and was opened on 9 April 1895.The theatre has a 600-seat capacity and is located in the centremost place of Piraeus.

Ionideios (or Ionidios) School of Piraeus (Greek: Ιωνίδειος Σχολή Πειραιά Greek pronunciation: [ioniðios sxoʎ pir̥ea]) is a school in Piraeus, Greece. It was founded in 1847, and it was named after the Greek national benefactor Constantine Ionides (Greek: Κωνσταντίνος Ιωνίδης), father of Alexander Constantine Ionides.

The Greek genocide Memorial in Piraeus is a major monument located in the Greek port city of Piraeus. It commemorates the genocide of the Pontic Greeks. The monument is situated in the Alexandra Square in Piraeus. The work consists of a contemporary sculpture created by artist Panagiotis Tanimanidis, who named it "Pyrrhic Flight." It was formally unveiled at a special ceremony in Piraeus on May 21, 2017. The ceremony marked the first time that memorial events to commemorate the genocide had taken place in Piraeus. The monument was funded by businessman Evangelos Marinakis. The Pontic Genocide was an atrocity carried out by the Turkish government, it was committed alongside the Armenian and Assyrian genocides. An estimated 353,000 Greek lives were lost as a result of the Pontic genocide. Evangelos Marinakis has said that one of the reasons the monument was such an important project for him to contribute to, is because his mother, Irene Karakatsani, is a descendant of the Ypsilantis family, whose ancestors played a central role in the Greek War of Independence. The three-dimensional sculpture is 15.50 metres long and 7.10 metres high. It is made of stainless steel and has brass details. Inside, the work is adorned with 17 sculptural compositions, successive icons depicting the flight from Pontus to reach an unprepared homeland that sheltered the refugees.

The Athinais Cultural Center (Greek: Αθηναΐς Πολυχώρος Πολιτισμού) is a "multi-purpose" conference complex in Athens, Greece. It hosts business events, cultural activities, and entertainment. It also contains an art gallery with a permanent exhibition of contemporary Greek art. The building was originally a silk factory, since renovated.
