Sierra de Mijas

Alhaurín el Grande is a town located in the province of Málaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It covers an area of 73.1 km2 extending from the northern slope of the Sierra de Mijas and the plain of the Guadalhorce river, where alternate crops of citrus and other fruit trees orchards are found. The population reaches 23,675 inhabitants, according to 2010 data. The origin of the name was given by the Arabs, who called it "Alhaurin", where the Catholic Monarchs added "el Grande" to distinguish it from the neighboring town of Alhaurín de la Torre after the conquest of both sites in 1485. It is situated between the river Fahala and the stream of Blas González. The coast is close by and there is a network of roads to get there. There is a road to Málaga Airport and Torremolinos, which takes about 30 minutes by car. A new road was built in 2010 connecting the town with Fuengirola and the beach which is only 20 minutes drive. There is also another new road to Marbella, to the southwest with Mijas just along a winding road round the mountain. From Alhaurín there is a view over the "Hoya de Málaga", Málaga's vale, full of lemon trees and other fruit trees. Villafranco del Guadalhorce is a village within Alhaurín el Grande's municipal territory. It was founded by colonist families in the 1950s and subsidized by the Instituto Nacional de Colonización of the Spanish government.

Mijas ( MEE-həs; Spanish: [ˈmixas]) is a municipality in the Province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Located on the southeastern coast of Spain, Mijas belongs to the region of Costa del Sol Occidental. Its center is a typical Andalusian white-washed village, Mijas Pueblo, located on a mountainside about 430 metres or 1,476 feet above sea level, in the heart of the Costa del Sol region. The municipality has three nuclei, gathering the majority of its population: Mijas Pueblo (a hillside village, administrative center of the municipality) La Cala de Mijas (a coastal village and a seaside resort) Las Lagunas (a suburban and commercial area to the north and west of, and largely integrated with, Fuengirola).Mijas Costa is used to denominate the coastal area of Mijas, especially the villages Calahonda, Riviera and La Cala de Mijas. The economy of Mijas is primarily based on tourism, featuring local historical museums and many souvenir shops. The municipality has seven golf courses (four more are under construction), including the La Cala Resort, which is the biggest golf resort in Spain. Agricultural products include potatoes, cereals, and avocados.

St Anthony's College is an independent educational establishment located between Mijas and Fuengirola, Spain. It is notable as it is the oldest British college on the Costa del Sol, and indeed in Andalucia. It currently offers British education, with convalidated Spanish curriculum from ages 3–18 and has a large range of nationalities in both its student faculty and its teaching staff. It is an accredited school with the British Council, the Spanish Ministry of Education and the Junta Andalucia.

Benalmádena Stupa is a stupa in Benalmádena, Málaga in the Andalusian region of southern Spain, overlooking Costa del Sol. It is 33 m (108 ft) high and is the tallest stupa in Europe. It was inaugurated on 5 October 2003, and was the final project of Lopon Tsechu Rinpoche.

The Benalmádena Museum is located on Luis Peralta Avenue, in the Benalmádena old town area, in the province of Málaga, Spain. The museum was opened to the public on 5 May 1970 and renovated on 26 April 2005. The main museum collections are:

Fuengirola (Spanish: [fweŋxiˈɾola]), in ancient times known as Suel and then Suhayl, is a city on the Costa del Sol in the province of Málaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It is located on the central coast of the province and integrated into the region of the Costa del Sol and the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol Occidental.It is a major tourist resort, with more than 8 km (5 miles) of beaches and a medieval Moorish fortress. In common with much of this coast, it has been the subject of considerable urban development. The area has a subtropical Mediterranean climate, with annual average temperatures of 18 °C (65 °F) and average summer temperatures of over 30 °C (86 °F).

Castillo de Colomares is a monument, in the form of a castle, dedicated to the life and adventures of Christopher Columbus. It was built near Benalmádena in Spain, between 1987 and 1994. Covering an area of 1,500 meters, it is the largest monument in the world to the explorer, but also contains the smallest church in the world, covering an area of just 1.96 square meters.In 1987, Dr. D. Esteban Martín Martín began this singular work in an improvised way and with the help of two masons he created Colomares in seven years of artisanal work using brick, stone and cement. Thanks to his knowledge of art, history and architecture, Dr. Martín was able to mold this work at his whim, turning it into a "unicum" due to the stony way of narrating the Discovery of America.

Fuengirola Bullring (Plaza de Toros de Fuengirola (Spanish)) is a 3rd category bullring located in Fuengirola, a coastal town in the province of Málaga, part of the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Alhaurín de la Torre is a town in the province of Málaga, Andalusia, in southern Spain. The town is part of Málaga Metropolitan Area and of the comarca of Valle del Guadalhorce. It sits at the entrance to the Guadalhorce valley on the slopes of the Sierra de Mijas mountains, some 17 km from Málaga. The municipality covers an area of 82 km2 between the Sierra de Mijas and Málaga basin, and is crossed by the river Guadalhorce. It is the most populous municipality in the region of Guadalhorce and third within the province, with 33,567 inhabitants, behind Antequera and Ronda. Alhaurin de la Torre experienced a marked increase of population in the 90s due to the expansion of the metropolitan area of Málaga. The population density is 409.35 inhabitants/km2. The city was founded by the Phoenicians, mostly from Libya. Since 1991 it has been the headquarters of the Málaga Provincial Prison, just outside the city, which currently is one of the most well known in Spain, housing some of the special cases of social impact, like the Malaya case amongst others.

Calaburras Lighthouse (Spanish: Faro de Calaburras) is a lighthouse located at the coastal point known as Punta de Calaburras near Mijas, Málaga province, in Spain. The station was the first air/sea lighthouse in Spain and was built in 1863 and rebuilt in 1928. It is the main beacon of the province. The light is used by ships and planes navigating the Strait of Gibraltar. The present lighthouse is 29 metres (95 ft) high having replaced a 13.5 metres (44 ft) high masonry tower. Its signal is automatic and electric since 1949. Its light signal flashes every 5 seconds and its maximum visibility range is 28 nautical miles.
