Allerton Bywater is a semi-rural village and civil parish in the south-east of the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 4,717. The village itself is 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Castleford, with neighbouring villages Kippax and Great Preston all providing local amenities. St Aidan's Nature reserve borders the village attracting many visitors with its beauty and charm. Additionally "The Lines Way" bridle path which runs from Garforth through to Allerton following the old train track provides a pleasant route for walkers, joggers and cyclists alike. The River Aire flows through the village to the south-west. Allerton Bywater is built up of several smaller communities, mainly old mining villages such as Brigshaw, Hollinhurst and Bowers Row.

Ledston railway station was a railway station on the now disused Castleford–Garforth line in West Yorkshire, England. The station opened in 1878 and was closed in January 1951, well before the Beeching Axe took effect.

Bowers railway station was a station opened in 1934 by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) on the Castleford–Garforth line, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was only open for 17 years, being closed in January 1951, though the line remained open until the 1990s for coal traffic from the nearby collieries.

The Church of the All Saints' in Castleford, West Yorkshire, England is an active Anglican parish church in the archdeaconry of Leeds and the Diocese of Leeds. The church is Grade II listed. All Saints is one of the three Anglican churches in town; the other two being All Saints at Hightown and St Paul the Apostle.

It is 3 miles (5 km) north of Castleford and 10 miles (16 km) east of Leeds. The parish had a population of 400 in 2001, which decreased slightly to 394 at the 2011 Census.

Lagentium or Legiolum was the Roman name for the fort and surrounding civilian settlement which was built around the year 74 by the Roman Empire. The English town of Castleford, West Yorkshire, is now built on what was the fort.

The bus station is situated in Castleford Town Centre off Albion Street and is approximately 110 yards (100 m) away from the town's railway station. The rebuilt station has 10 stands in a drive-in-reverse out format while the original station had 15 stands on four islands at the bus station. The main operator is Arriva Yorkshire.

Castleford railway station serves the town of Castleford in West Yorkshire. It lies on the Hallam and Pontefract lines, 11 miles (18 km) south-east of Leeds. Although it was built originally as a through station, regular passenger services beyond Castleford towards York were discontinued in January 1970. Today, all Northern Trains services calling at the station reverse here, arriving and departing from the former northbound platform 1. Platform 2 had been brought back into temporary use during the Leeds First project in 2002; Trans-Pennine services between York and Huddersfield were diverted to avoid engineering work in Leeds, routed via Church Fenton, Castleford and Wakefield Kirkgate. Platform 2 has subsequently been rebuilt with a new footbridge to enable step-free access. Platform 2 was brought back into permanent use in 2023 to accommodate extra services as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade project. The route from Church Fenton continues to be used for freight traffic, empty stock transfers, special trains and such engineering and other diversions as required as well as a small number of passenger trains that are booked this way for route retention. In February 2016, West Yorkshire Metro opened a new Castleford bus station close to the railway station, featuring an integrated and staffed transport interchange. Work on the new £6 million bus station was started in October 2014.

Tickle Cock Bridge is a pedestrian underpass in Castleford, England, under a railway line originally built by the York and North Midland Railway between York and Normanton. Built in 1890, the thoroughfare now connects the town's main residential area with the Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre, and is used by 50,000 pedestrians each week. The original Victorian structure, described by the shopping centre's manager as "small, narrow, very low and gloomy" and "frightening to walk through", was replaced in 2008 as part of an urban regeneration scheme.The replacement bridge was initially renamed Tittle Cott. After a protest organised by a local over-50s group, Wakefield Council reversed its decision and a plaque bearing the original name, Tickle Cock, was installed.

Lower Mickletown is a hamlet in the City of Leeds, in the English county of West Yorkshire. It was named Low Mickletown in the early 20th century and has been known under this name at least until about 1950.Lower Mickletown is served by Arriva Yorkshire buses running between Leeds and Wakefield.
