Wadway

Noordermeer is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Koggenland, and lies about 5 km east of Heerhugowaard. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1575 as Noore meer, and means "northern lake" which refers to the Baarsdorpermeer. Noorder ("northern") has been added to distinguish from Zuidermeer.Noordermeer is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Zuidermeer. It consists of about 25 houses.

Spanbroek is a small city in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Opmeer, and lies about 9 km (6 mi) northwest of Hoorn.

Sijbekarspel is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Medemblik, and lies about 10 km northwest of Hoorn. Sijbekarsel consists of one long road, with a ribbon of buildings around it. On the east, it is connected to Benningbroek.

West Friesland (Dutch: West-Friesland) is a contemporary region in the Northwest of the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland.

Zuidermeer is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Koggenland and lies about 6 km west of Hoorn. The village was first mentioned in 1665 as Zuyder M., and means "southern lake". It refers to the Baarsdorpermeer which was poldered in 1624. Zuid- ("south") has been added to distinguish from Noordermeer. Zuidermeer was home to 87 people in 1840.In 1898, a railway station opened on the Alkmaar to Hoorn railway line. It closed in 1938. In 1934, the Catholic Our Lady of Lourdes Church was built with the expectation that the village would grow in the future. The village house moved into the church after the local pub closed down, and it was decided in 2007 to transform the church in a multifunctional centre.

Opmeer (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɔpˈmeːr] ; West Frisian: Opmar or Obmar) is a municipality and town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland and the region of West-Frisia.

Zandwerven (West Frisian: Sandwerfen) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Opmeer, and lies about 8 km east of Heerhugowaard. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1653 as "op Sandwerven", and means "terp (artificial living hill) on the sand". Zandwerven is the site of a Neolithic settlement, and artefacts have been recovered from 1,700 Before Christ.Zandwerven has place name signs. It was home to 108 people in 1840.

Benningbroek is a village in the northwest Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Medemblik, North Holland about 40 km north of Amsterdam. On the western side, Benningbroek has merged with Sijbekarspel. The village was first mentioned around 1338 as Bennenbroech, and means "swampy land of the people of Benne (person)". Bennebroek developed in the 11th century as a peat excavation settlement.The Dutch Reformed church is a single aisled church with a tall spire from the 16th century. The choir was demolished at the end of the 18th century.Benningbroek was home to 461 people in 1840. In 1887, a joint railway station with Sijbekarspel opened on the Hoorn to Medemblik railway line. The line closed in 1941.

Baarsdorpermeer is a hamlet and polder in the municipality of Koggenland in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands. The hamlet is named after the water, which itself would have been named after an older place called Baarsdorp, which was first attested in 1345 as Barsdorp. This would probably have been a compound of the Middle Dutch Baer (a personal name) and dorp ('village'). The current place was mentioned in 1745 as Baersdorpermeer, which itself is a compound of Baersdorp and meer ('lake').The hamlet formally falls under the village of Zuidermeer. The place is located in the extension of that village and continues to Lekermeer. It is located in the Baarsdorpmeerpolder and just west of the city of Hoorn. Until 1 January 1979 Baarsdorpermeer fell under the city and municipality of Berkhout. From 1979 to 2007 it belonged to the municipality of Wester-Koggenland, into which the municipality of Berkhout was merged. Baarsdorpermeer falls almost entirely within the village area of Zuidermeer. Until the 1980s, that was a quarter of the place. This is also where most of the houses are found. As one travels further from the village centre, one also encounters more agricultural habitation. Baarsdorpermeer has one side road, which also dead ends at an agricultural company. The water of De Kromme Leek starts at Baarsdorpermeer and continues to Medemblik. This water was an important drainage water before the exploitation of the peat area from the early Middle Ages and also after the exploitation. At the area border with Lekermeer and Wognum, the area still has the old typical type of local allotment. Further on, the winding course has been preserved as much as possible during the centuries-later land consolidation.

De Weere (West Frisian: De Weare) is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Opmeer, and lies about 10 km northwest of Hoorn. The village was first mentioned in 1680 as De Weeren, and means "enclosed land". It refers to the ditches which enclose the polder.The Catholic St Lambertus Church was built between 1905 and 1907. In 1963, exterminators tried to remove longhorn beetles using gasoline, and the church burnt down. The damage was repaired by December 1964.De Weere was home to 526 people in 1840. It used to belong to three municipalities. In 1978, all parts were merged into Opmeer.

Gouwe is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Opmeer, and lies about 11 km northwest of Hoorn. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1437 as "bij de Gowe", and refers to a stream. The etymology of the word is unclear. The centre of the hamlet has place name sign, however the remainder of the hamlet is unmarked. It used to home to 190 people in 1840.

Wognum (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋɔɣnʏm] ) is a former municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Wognum received city rights in 1392 but lost them in 1426. In 2007 it merged with the municipalities of Medemblik and Noorder-Koggenland into the surviving municipality of Medemblik.
