Odenheim Abbey

Odenheim station is the station of Östringen district of the Odenheim. It is the terminus of the Katzbach Railway (Katzbachbahn) running from Bruchsal to Odenheim and is served by line S31 of the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn.

Angelbachtal is a municipality in Kraichgau, between Sinsheim and Bruchsal, created in 1972 by the union of Eichtersheim and Michelfeld. The name Angelbachtal comes from the valley of the Waldangelbach, which flows through Kraichgau.

The Battle of Sinsheim took place on 16 June 1674, near Sinsheim in modern Baden-Württemberg, then in the Holy Roman Empire. Part of the 1672 to 1678 Franco-Dutch War, a French army under Marshall Turenne defeated an Imperial force led by Aeneas de Caprara. The war began in May 1672, when a French army invaded the Dutch Republic. In August 1673, the Dutch agreed an alliance with Emperor Leopold, opening a new theatre of operations in the Rhineland. For the 1674 campaign, Turenne was ordered to prevent Imperial troops entering the contested area of Alsace; facing a number of separate forces which outnumbered his in total, he sought to defeat his opponents piecemeal. On 16 June 1674, Turenne intercepted a slightly larger Imperial detachment of around 8,500 men, on its way to join Alexander von Bournonville and their main army near Heidelberg. De Caprara managed to repulse the first two French assaults before withdrawing; although unable to prevent him linking up with von Bournonville, Turenne inflicted heavy casualties, and thereafter gained the strategic initiative in the campaign.

Östringen (South Franconian: Öschdringe) is a town in Northern Karlsruhe district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Östringen is a twin town with Abergavenny, South Wales. Until the district reform on January 1, 1973, Östringen means the district of Bruchsal. The status of central government in 1981 was taken over by the state government for city administration. Extensive deciduous forests take up about a third of the municipal area. The Freibach flows through the core town of Östringen, while the Katzbach flows through the Tiefenbach and Odenheim districts. In the 19th century, a flourishing cigar industry developed in Östringen and Odenheim. In Eichelberg and Tiefenbach, agriculture, especially viticulture, remained predominant.

In the Krummbachwald near Östringen (district of Karlsruhe) there is the enclosed, publicly accessible sulfur spring Östringen, whose water is said to have healing powers and support the immune system. As with the medicinal springs in Bad Mingolsheim and Bad Schönborn, the spring is made up of dissolved, sulfur-containing sodium hydrogen carbonate (Na-HCO3) from the rock (Black Jura). The water comes from the bituminous slate of the Langenbrücken depression. This is the deepest part of the Kraichgaumulde landscape between Ubstadt and Malsch, which extends in an easterly direction to Östringen. When the rock containing pyrites (pyrite) is weathered, the oxidation of the pyrite with subsequent bacterial reduction of the sulfate ion produces hydrogen sulfide (H2S). It gives the mineral water the smell of rotten eggs. In contrast to the healing springs in Bad Schönborn and Bad Mingolsheim, which are pumped from a depth of over 40 °C from a depth of 600 m, the water of the Östringen sulfur spring is cold. It contains 1.5 g / l dissolved substances and 30 mg / l hydrogen sulfide. Visitors who regularly drink from it should note that the daily intake of hydrogen sulfide does not exceed the limit of 100 mg. The well was built in 1960 in the hope of using the medicinal water economically. The dream of Östringen as a spa town "Bad Östringen" failed, however. A sign at the “Am Fischbach” forest car park, next to district road 3521 (Rettigheimer Straße), shows the approx. 400 m long path through the forest. The futuristic design of the fountain and its circular platform in the middle of the closed forest area give the location an extraordinary appearance. Several benches on site invite you to linger. It is advisable to bring a drinking cup with you. Water withdrawal is not possible in the winter months.

Mühlhausen is a town in the district of Rhein-Neckar in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Mühlhausen has three districts.

Gochsheim Castle (German: Graf-Eberstein-Schloss, or the Castle of Count Eberstein) is an old royal residence in the Kraichtal area of Baden-Württemberg, in the north-eastern part of Karlsruhe, Germany. It currently houses a museum and holds around 100 works of local artist Karl Hubbuch who died in 1979. The castle fell into the ownership of Frederick August of Württemberg-Neuenstadt after his marriage on 9 February 1679 to Countess Albertine Sophie Esther, the last remaining member of the family of the Counts of Eberstein (now known as Alt-Eberstein). The newlyweds had the castle renovated and used it as their residence from 1682 onwards but it was ransacked by French invaders during a campaign of the War of the Grand Alliance, during which Frederick August withdrew to take up residence in Neuenstadt. The castle was reconstructed after the war ended in 1700, after which Gochsheim once again became a ducal residence. Frederick August died in 1716. On the death of his wife in 1728, Gochsheim returned to the main ducal line. The upper floor now houses the world's largest collection of irons, around 1,300 examples collected by Heinrich Sommer, as well as works by theologian, local historian and artist Dr. Carl Krieger and Margarethe Krieger.

Kraichtal is a town in the north-eastern part of the Karlsruhe district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was founded in 1971 by a merger of nine smaller municipalities.
