Shakopee High School is a four-year public high school as of fall 2018 located in Shakopee, Minnesota, United States. The school district serves nearly 8,380 students in Shakopee, Savage, Prior Lake, and the Jackson, Louisville, and Sand Creek Townships. The district is located in one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the Twin Cities. The high school received a major expansion and was reopened after a summer of construction in the fall of 2018.

Marystown is an unincorporated community in Louisville Township, Scott County, Minnesota, United States, near Shakopee. The community is located along Scott County Road 15 and 160th Street West.

St. Mary's Church of the Purification is a historic Roman Catholic church complex in Marystown, Minnesota, United States. The oldest surviving buildings consist of a Romanesque Revival church constructed 1882–1883 and a rectory built in 1910. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 for its significance in the themes of architecture, exploration/settlement, and religion. It was nominated for representating the Roman Catholic church properties around which many German American settlements grew in rural Scott County, Minnesota. At the time of its National Register nomination, the complex also included an 1893 school and 1921 convent. The school was demolished in 1990 and the convent moved elsewhere to serve as a private home.

St. Francis Regional Medical Center is a not-for-profit regional medical center located on the southwestern edge of the Twin Cities metropolitan area in Shakopee, Minnesota. St. Francis was founded by a small group of Franciscan Sisters in 1938 and is currently owned by Allina Health, HealthPartners Park Nicollet and Essentia Health.

Significant growth as a bedroom community occurred after U.S. Highway 169 was realigned in 1996 toward the new Bloomington Ferry Bridge. The city is known for the Valleyfair amusement park and the Canterbury Park racetrack.

Jackson Township is a township in Scott County, Minnesota, United States. Organized in 1858, Jackson Township's population was 1,361 at the 2000 census. While the origin of its name is not recorded, it is most likely named after President Andrew Jackson.

The Minnesota Correctional Facility – Shakopee (MCF-SHK) is a women-only state prison in Minnesota, USA.Constructed in 1986 and located in Shakopee, Scott County, it is Minnesota's only facility for housing female offenders.MCF-SHK is home to 500+ women of all five custody levels. The Facility consists of ten buildings, including six inmate living areas (including a chemical dependency treatment unit, parenting unit and education unit), a mental health unit and a segregation facility, an industries building, and administration and engineering related buildings. The prison previously had no perimeter fence or wall, only a hedge surrounding the property until 2016. This was after a bonding bill passed by the legislature of Minnesota in 2014 allowing for the erection of a twelve foot fence to surround the prison. Despite previously having no fence or wall only eight prisoners have been able to escape but all were later caught.MCF-SHK is home to a chemical dependency treatment unit, a program that promotes and teaches good parenting skills, and was formerly home to a work-release style program for women. Cosmetology, office support classes, as well as several college courses are also offered to the women.

Canterbury Park Holding Corporation ("Canterbury Park") hosts parimutuel wagering on live thoroughbred and quarter horse racing at its facilities in Shakopee and parimutuel wagering on races held at out-of-state racetracks that are simulcast to the racetrack. In addition, the Canterbury Park Card Casino operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is also regulated by the Minnesota Racing Commission. Casino games include blackjack, baccarat, Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em, and poker. Canterbury Park also derives revenue from related services and activities, such as concessions, parking, admissions, and programs, and from other entertainment events held at the racetrack. Furthermore, Canterbury Park is pursuing a strategy to enhance shareholder value by developing approximately 140 acres of underutilized land surrounding the racetrack in a project known as Canterbury Commons. The company is pursuing several mixed-use development opportunities for the underutilized land, directly and through joint ventures.Canterbury Park hosted the Claiming Crown of horseracing for 10 of its first 12 years of existence, through 2010. The inaugural Mystic Lake Derby, offering the largest purse at the track since 1991, was run on July 28, 2012. The race was won by the 3-year-old Hammers Terror in a time of 1:37.18 over the one-mile turf event.A two-week series of poker tournaments, Fall Poker Classic, is held each fall at Canterbury Park.

The Strunk–Nyssen House is a historic property in Jackson Township, Minnesota, United States, just outside the city of Shakopee. The original wing of the house was built around 1856 for Herman H. Strunk, who established the area's first brewery on the site. The brewery went by several names over the course of its existence, but is commonly referred to as the Shakopee Brewery. The residence was enlarged around 1880 by Hubert and Mary Nyssen, who used the second floor as a boarding house. The Nyssens continued operating the brewery until 1920.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 for its significance in the themes of architecture, commerce, exploration/settlement, and industry. It was nominated for its long association with the important brewing industry of early Scott County and as an example of 19th-century vernacular architecture.
