Topeka Regional Airport

The Combat Air Museum is a non-profit aviation museum at Topeka Regional Airport (Forbes Field) in Shawnee County, near Topeka, Kansas. The museum is dedicated to the creation of facilities and resources for the education of the local and regional communities through the collection, preservation, conservation and exhibition of aircraft, information, artifacts, technology and art associated with the military aviation history of the United States.

Heartland Motorsports Park, formerly known as Heartland Park Topeka, is a multi-purpose motorsports facility 8 miles (13 km) south of downtown Topeka, Kansas near the Topeka Regional Airport. It operated from 1989 until its closure in 2023.

It is located 11 miles (18 km) south of downtown Topeka. Wakarusa is also the name of an unincorporated community in adjacent Douglas County, Kansas, 6.6 mi (10.6 km) southwest of downtown Lawrence and the name of the township that includes Lawrence, Kansas.

The Nickell Memorial Armory is a Kansas National Guard armory, located at 2722 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, Kansas 66611. It is bounded on the north by 27th Street, on the east by Kansas Avenue and on the west by Topeka Avenue (US 75 highway). On the south is a public baseball complex and an area with retail shops that fronts 29th Street. The armory is more than 0.5 miles (0.80 km) east to west and is almost as wide north to south.The armory is named for Lieutenant General Joe Nickell, the Adjutant General of Kansas from April 21, 1950, to December 31, 1972. At present, the armory has a staff of between 20 and 49 persons. It contains the Adjutant General's Public Affairs Office and is known as the Kansas State Defense Complex. The armory has approximately fifteen larger buildings and a number of small buildings. A large gymnasium fronts Topeka Avenue. The armory contains much military equipment and supplies used by Kansas National Guard units. Since Nickell Memorial Armory is a military installation, access points to it are controlled. The armory is surrounded by a tall fence. The only public entrance is on its southeast corner, on Kansas Avenue, where the headquarters building of the armory is located.

Topeka USD 501, also known as Topeka Public Schools, is a public unified school district headquartered in Topeka, Kansas, United States. It is one of four school districts that serve the city of Topeka. Serving 13,430 students in the 2019-2020 school year, the district comprises 5 high schools, 6 middle schools, 15 elementary schools, and 7 other schools focused on serving other Pre-K-12 students. It has the highest enrollment of all school districts in Shawnee County. Topeka Public Schools is widely known for its role in the landmark Brown v. Board of Education school desegregation case.

The Horace G. Lyons House is a historic house. It was built in 1860 for Horace G. Lyons, a settler and farmer. It was expanded in 1893. In 1900, Lyons authored a religious booklet called The Devil Problem, in which he argued that the devil could be found in every man. The house remained in the Lyons family until 1977.The house was designed in the Second Empire and Italianate architectural styles. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since August 1, 1984.

The Evel Knievel Museum is a non-profit museum located in Topeka, Kansas, United States. The museum houses the largest collection of authentic Evel Knievel memorabilia in the world, including interactive experiences. It is 13,000 square feet (1,200 square meters) and two stories. The museum is located adjacent to Topeka's Historic Harley-Davidson and opened in June 2017.

The Stormont Vail Events Center, formerly known as Kansas Expocentre, is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose arena built in 1987 in Topeka, Kansas. Previously, the Topeka Sizzlers of the Continental Basketball Association, Kansas Koyotes indoor football team,Topeka Tarantulas, Topeka ScareCrows, Topeka Pilots ice hockey and Topeka Tropics of the National Arena League (NAL) teams played there. Many other shows, including concerts, perform here. The Kansas Expocentre was renamed on June 13, 2019, to the Stormont Vail Events Center after signing a ten-year partnership agreement with Topeka-based Stormont Vail Health. It has hosted the Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 5A boys and girls state basketball tournaments since its opening, and the KSHSAA Class 5A and 6A volleyball state championships since 1992. The arena also hosts the USA Wrestling Kansas Kids state championship tournament every March. Landon Arena is the main part of the events center. Other areas include the Exhibition Hall, a building for trade shows, and Domer Arena, a livestock/horse show arena.
