Fiskerton, Lincolnshire

Royal Air Force Fiskerton or more simply RAF Fiskerton was a Royal Air Force station located north of the Lincolnshire village of Fiskerton, 5.0 miles (8.0 km) east of Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England. The airfield closed at the end of the war in 1945 being a satellite to RAF Scampton and very little now exists. The station was home to some 2000 personnel during the war, and various technical sites were in what is now the village of Fiskerton. A small cluster of semi-derelict buildings still exist and are still in use at the end of the present village on the road out to short ferry. Drake's view is the entrance to these old buildings.

Five Mile House was a railway station on the Lincolnshire Loop Line which served the village of Fiskerton in Lincolnshire between 1848 and 1964. Situated on the south bank of the River Witham, passengers on the north bank had to use a ferry to reach it. It closed two years after opening due to low traffic, but reopened fifteen years later. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1958, leaving the station open for anglers' excursions until 1964. The Water Rail Way footpath now runs through the site.

Reepham railway station was a railway station in Reepham, Lincolnshire which opened in 1848 and closed in 1965, though the line is still in use. It was located a few miles east of Lincoln. The station's building is now a private residence. The former coal yard and sidings are occupied by two bungalows. There is no trace of the platforms which were located either side of the level crossing, the staggered layout being typical of the company that built the line. The manual signal box and crossing gates were removed a few years ago and replaced by barriers. They are controlled by the still staffed signal box at Langworth further up the line towards Market Rasen, the next still-in-use station on the line. The removal of the staffed signal box has resulted in much longer waiting times for road traffic and pedestrians since the control was moved to Langworth. Up to closure, the station was used by grammar school pupils to go to De Aston School in Market Rasen. There are occasional calls for the station to be re-opened. It was the only village station on the line which was actually in the village. Most others being a few miles outside the villages from which the stations took their names. The line links Newark North Gate/Newark Castle-Lincoln Central-Grimsby-Cleethorpes. A couple of miles east of the village is the Welton oil field where a gathering station is located, and the oil is tanked for transportation, making the line very busy for freight.

Reepham is a small village in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 5 miles (8.0 km) north-east from the city and county town of Lincoln. Village population is approximately 1,250, reducing to 915 at the 2011 census. The village shop is a Post Office, general store and newsagents. There is also a primary school, a Church of England church (St Peter and St Paul), Methodist chapel, and a public house, The Fox and Hounds Inn. The village shares its village hall with neighbouring Cherry Willingham, and Priory Pembroke Academy in that village is the local secondary school. There is a cricket club in the village.A regular bus service provided by the Stagecoach in Lincolnshire (previously Lincolnshire Road Car Company) links the village to Lincoln and the neighbouring villages of Fiskerton and Cherry Willingham. The parliamentary constituency is Gainsborough, where the current MP is Edward Leigh (Conservative). Although the centre of the village contains very old properties there has been expansion in recent years and in-fill with new houses and bungalows. The village previously contained a Co-op store, police station, a second pub The Chequers, doctors' surgery and Reepham railway station, but all have closed. The railway still passes through the village on the Lincoln/Market Rasen/Cleethorpes line. The village has a parish council, the lowest level of local government.

Cherry Willingham is a large village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population at the 2011 census was 3,506. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) east from the city and county town of Lincoln. Neighbouring villages are Reepham, Nettleham and Fiskerton. The village is twinned with the French village Le Grand-Lucé.The village has two schools, Cherry Willingham Primary School and the Priory Pembroke Academy, shopping centre, library, surgery, two pubs, a church and a chapel.

The Priory Pembroke Academy (formerly Cherry Willingham Community School, Cherry Willingham Comprehensive School and Cherry Willingham Secondary Modern School) is a school for pupils aged 11–16 on Croft Lane in the village Cherry Willingham, located just outside the city of Lincoln, England. It opened under its current name in September 2017, under The Priory Federation of Academies. It was named for William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke.

Sudbrooke is a small village and Civil Parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 4.5 miles (7 km) north-east from the centre of Lincoln. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 1,788.Sudbrooke is situated just off the A158 Lincoln to Skegness road, and although the original heart of the village near the church has existed for centuries, the main development as a commuter village for Lincoln took place from the 1970s. Known only from written records the site of Holme in Sudbrooke has been built over since.Sudbrooke church is dedicated to Saint Edward the Confessor, and was built in 1860 by John Dobson of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is a Grade II* listed building. A much older churchyard cross was restored at about the same time. The new church replaced an older brick building, possibly itself a successor to an older Norman church. The church is part of the Barlings Group Ministry in the Deanery of Lawres.There appears to have been a searchlight battery in the village at some point during the Second World War.Although facilities are few, Sudbrooke has a shop, a café, a hairdresser, a filling station, two playgrounds, and a village hall which is primarily used by independent groups.

Langworth railway station was a railway station in Langworth, Lincolnshire, opened in 1848 and closed in 1965. On 30 June 2015, a freight train was derailed near the site of the station. On 3 March 2017 The station building was damaged when a stolen car drove through the railway barriers, injuring the two teenage boys in the car.

Heighington ( HAY-ing-tən) is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated about 4 miles (6 km) south-east of Lincoln.In the 2001 Census the population of the parish was recorded as 2,918 in 1,203 households.

Holme is the site of a lost settlement in West Lindsey, Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) north-east from the city of Lincoln, and contained within the village of Sudbrooke, between Main Drive to the east and Holme Drive to the west. Holme was documented as a village in 1334, but no trace remains today. Holme was in the Lawress Wapentake.

Branston Booths is a small village in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The village is situated approximately 5 miles (8 km) east from the city and county town of Lincoln, and stands at the intersection of the Car Dyke and Branston Delph drain. Branston Booths is part of Branston and Mere civil parish. A church mission hall with seating for over 500 was built at Branston Booths in 1931. A Methodist chapel with seating for 110 was built to the south-west of the village at Branston Moor in 1911.

Branston and Heighington railway station was a station in the village of Heighington, Lincolnshire, on the line between Lincoln and Sleaford.
