Boosey & Hawkes is a British music publisher purported to be the largest specialist classical music publisher in the world. Until 2003, it was also a major manufacturer of brass, string and woodwind musical instruments. Formed in 1930 through the merger of two well-established British music businesses, it controls the copyrights to much major 20th-century music, including works by Leonard Bernstein, Benjamin Britten, Aaron Copland, Sergei Prokofiev, and Igor Stravinsky. It also publishes many prominent contemporary composers, including John Adams, Karl Jenkins, James MacMillan, Mark-Anthony Turnage, and Steve Reich. The Gladstone Memorial on the Strand, London is a bronze sculpture of the British statesman, created by Hamo Thornycroft between 1899-1905. The statue was erected as the national memorial to Gladstone and shows him in the robes of the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The figure stands on a plinth surrounded by allegorical figures depicting four of the Virtues, Courage, Brotherhood, Education and Aspiration. The memorial is a Grade II listed structure.

The statue of Arthur Harris is one of three statues outside the front of St Clement Danes church on the Strand in London. It is one of two by the sculptor Faith Winter, the other being a statue of Hugh Dowding. Harris served as Commander-in-Chief of RAF Bomber Command during the Second World War, earning him the nickname "Bomber Harris". During this time he led air raids on many German cities. His participation in the Bombing of Dresden, a controversial event, led to the statue commemorating him being caught up in controversy of its own. The unveiling of the statue saw protests and the statue has faced vandalism on numerous occasions. The statue was funded by the Bomber Command Association; it was commissioned in 1989 and was completed three years later on the centenary of Harris's birth. St Clement Danes was chosen as the site alongside the statue to Dowding as St Clement Danes had largely been gutted by bomb damage during the war. After its reconstruction and 1958 reconsecration, it has served as a place of remembrance for members of the RAF who died fighting in the war.

St Clement Danes was a civil parish in the metropolitan area of London, England; an ecclesiastical version remains (see its Anglican church, St Clement Danes). The parish was split between the Liberty of Westminster and the Liberty of the Duchy of Lancaster (also known as of the Savoy). The area is colloquially split between Aldwych and Adelphi areas associated with the larger Strand area in the extreme east of the City of Westminster. It includes hotels, restaurants, the Indian and Australian High Commissions and the London School of Economics. To its west is Charing Cross station which faces Trafalgar Square.

The statue of Hugh Dowding is one of three statues outside the front of St Clement Danes church on the Strand in London. It is one of a pair by the sculptor Faith Winter, the other being a statue of Arthur Harris. Hugh Dowding was an air marshal during the Second World War who commanded the Royal Air Force in the defence of London during the Battle of Britain. Dowding was well respected by those who worked under him, whom Winston Churchill called "Dowding's chicks". The site in front of St Clement Danes is significant in that the church was bombed out during the war, and its reconstruction and reconsecration in 1958 saw it become a monument of remembrance for those of the RAF who had fallen during the war. The statue was designed by Faith Winter, was modelled directly in plaster, and was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1988 with a single Spitfire flypast. The statue portrays Dowding in uniform, and his son Derek who had himself served during the Battle of Britain remarked that it was an "uncanny likeness" when it was first revealed.

Wych Street was in London where King, Melbourne and Australia Houses now stand on Aldwych. It ran west from the church of St Clement Danes on the Strand to meet the southern end of Drury Lane. It was demolished by the London County Council in around 1901, as part of redevelopment bisected by new street Aldwych, the east of which mimics its course, in a curved way so taking up land buildings stood on, and these works created Kingsway.

The Chapel of King's College London is a Grade I listed 19th century chapel located in the Strand Campus of King's College, London, England. Originally designed by Sir Robert Smirke in 1831, the Renaissance Revival chapel seen today was redesigned by the prominent Victorian Gothic architect Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1864.

The Crown and Anchor, also written Crown & Anchor and earlier known as The Crown, was a public house in Arundel Street, off The Strand in London, England, famous for meetings of political (particularly the early 19th-century Radicals) and various other groups. It is no longer in existence.The first tavern built on the site sometime before 1710 accommodated the Academy of Vocal Music and the Royal Society. George Frideric Handel premiered his first oratorio, Esther, here in 1732, a significant moment in British musical life as it was the first oratorio in English (rather than the usual Italian). Samuel Johnson and James Boswell dined here during the 18th century. A second tavern was built in 1790, and both this and its earlier incarnation may have been called The Crown. Its rooms were large and able to accommodate 2,500 people, leading to its use as a venue for political meetings, particularly by the Radicals, including John Cam Hobhouse and Charles James Fox. One meeting was addressed by the Irish leader and MP in the United Kingdom Parliament, Daniel O'Connell. On 11 November 1823, George Birkbeck made a speech at the Crown and Anchor, attended by over 2000 people including Jeremy Bentham, Hobhouse and Henry Brougham, at which he proposed the foundation of an institution dedicated to educating the working-class inhabitants of London. This meeting led to the foundation of London Mechanics' Institute on 2 December 1823, which would go on to become Birkbeck, University of London.The Association for Preserving Liberty and Property against Republicans and Levellers, founded by John Reeves in 1792, were known as the Crown and Anchor Society or Association.During the late 20th century, the site housed offices and a branch of HSBC Bank. It is today a residential development, 190 Strand, incorporating groundfloor retail units.

Surrey Street in the City of Westminster, London, runs from Strand in the north to Temple Place in the south. It was built on land once occupied by Arundel House and its gardens.
